Reborn in 1993, Dark Sea

Chapter 060 The Anger of an Honest Man

Qiu Peng tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep, and An Xiaohai was also having trouble sleeping.

Judging from the moonlight, it must be past midnight.

An Xiaohai was just about to force himself to fall asleep when he suddenly heard a rustling sound. He opened his eyes and saw, in the moonlight, a figure stealthily walking towards the metal shelf where toiletries were stored.

It was Lai Donglin!

An Xiaohai frowned.

Lai Donglin returned a couple of days ago, and he seemed like a completely different person since then. His eyes were vacant, and he spent all his time sitting on the bed in a daze. He didn't react at all when the prison guards called him or when the inmates hit him.

This situation has been going on for two days now, and it's the middle of the night. What is he trying to do? An Xiaohai suddenly had a bad feeling.

Lai Donglin reached the metal shelf where toiletries were stored, found his washbasin, carefully took something from under the washbasin and hid it in his hand, then cautiously returned to his bunk.

"Oh no, he might be trying to commit suicide!"

Although he couldn't see it very clearly, An Xiaohai judged from the vague shape of the object that it was a sharpened toothbrush.

It's a toothbrush again!

Lai Donglin carrying this thing in the middle of the night certainly wasn't intending to commit murder or seek revenge; otherwise, he wouldn't have gone back to his own bed, but would have targeted someone else.

Now that Lai Donglin has returned to his own bed, it's highly likely that he only wants to hurt himself.

An Xiaohai's heart was in turmoil. He could understand Lai Donglin's situation and feelings very well, and even empathize with him. In another time and space, wasn't he exactly the same as Lai Donglin?

If it weren't for his mother, Lin Xuan'er, and Pan Zhuangzhuang never giving up on An Xiaohai, he might very well have chosen the same path as Lai Donglin.

"Let's just go to sleep. We agreed before that we wouldn't meddle in other people's business..."

An Xiaohai covered his head with a blanket, but the more he tried to escape, the more upset he became.

"Damn it! How did I end up seeing this? What the hell is wrong with me!"

An Xiaohai cursed inwardly. He knew very well that if he knew nothing, it would be fine, but the problem was that he had already seen it. If he really did nothing, this matter would probably become a knot in his heart, tormenting him for the rest of his life.

Worthy!

Annoyed, An Xiaohai threw off the blanket and walked barefoot to Lai Donglin's bedside.

Lai Donglin lay on the bed, his face covered in tears, his eyes staring blankly at the upper bunk. The sharpened toothbrush was pressed against his carotid artery.

If An Xiaohai had arrived any later, he might have already stabbed him.

"Move aside, give me some space!" An Xiaohai said in a low voice, sounding annoyed.

"Wh...what?"

Lai Donglin didn't even notice An Xiaohai approaching until An Xiaohai spoke, at which point he reacted and instinctively hid his hand, which was holding the toothbrush, under the blanket.

"I need to say a few words to you. Standing will make it easy for the guards to notice. Could you move over a bit and make room for me? It'll only take two minutes; I'll be leaving as soon as I'm done!"

Although Lai Donglin was completely bewildered, he subconsciously gave up a large area because he had been bullied for many years.

Looking at Lai Donglin, who was huddled in the corner with a look of fear and confusion on his face, An Xiaohai's heart softened a little. The Lai Donglin in front of him began to overlap infinitely with himself in another time and space.

An Xiaohai gently lay down in the spot Lai Donglin had given him, took a deep breath, and said:

"There was a boy who was born in a small fishing village. Although he came from an ordinary background, he had a mother who doted on him, a girlfriend who loved him to the core, and a friend he could entrust his life to.

He was very satisfied and vowed to make a name for himself in the future. He pushed himself to excel in every aspect.

Hard work pays off. He was admitted to a nationally renowned university with one of the top scores in the province, truly becoming the most outstanding young man in the village.

Just when he was riding high and felt his dream was getting closer, he accidentally stabbed someone to death, and from that moment on, he fell from heaven to hell!

An Xiaohai stopped there.

Describing one's life in this way is by no means a pleasant feeling; it's like tearing off all pretense and exposing one's wounds nakedly to others.

"You're talking about yourself, aren't you... I've heard some things about you, but I never expected it to be like this..." Lai Donglin said softly, his tone seemingly relieved.

"But we are different. Thank you for coming over and saying these things to me."

It was clear that An Xiaohai's words had some effect on Lai Donglin, but only a limited one, as his tone was full of indifference.

A person who has already resolved to die is naturally indifferent to everything.

"Yes, that's me, and we are indeed different. But this difference isn't what you imagine!" An Xiaohai took a deep breath and continued:

I'm not here to talk about myself, but just to tell you one thing:

How others see you is a projection of yourself; and how you see others is also a reflection of yourself!

Life is your own, and you only get one. Even if there's a chance to be reborn, we still need to fight for our lives!

"What do you mean by that?" Lai Donglin's eyes finally showed some emotion.

"I believe you understand what I mean. That's all I can say and do. The final choice is up to you."

I feel much better! I'm leaving now, it's late, get some rest.

After finishing his sentence, An Xiaohai immediately got up, tiptoed back to his bunk, and fell asleep. He had done what he needed to say and do, and now he felt at peace.

Although he went to bed very late, his long-established biological clock still accurately woke An Xiaohai up.

I glanced at the cell involuntarily. Thankfully, everyone was there. Lai Donglin was already packing his toiletries and getting ready to wash up. Although he looked extremely tired, his mental state had clearly improved a lot.

Sensing An Xiaohai's gaze, Lai Donglin looked at An Xiaohai. Although he didn't say or do anything, An Xiaohai could clearly feel his gratitude.

An Xiaohai smiled at Lai Donglin, then jumped up. There was still a good show to come today!

"Get lost and stop hanging around in front of me, you're an eyesore!" Skinny Monkey yelled at Lai Donglin. This guy loved to bully Lai Donglin and take advantage of his master's power.

Normally, Lai Donglin would have dodged away immediately as if stung by a bee, but this time, he seemed not to hear it at all.

"Are you fucking deaf? I..."

Before the skinny monkey could finish speaking, Lai Donglin suddenly erupted, roaring as he tackled the skinny monkey to the ground, repeatedly stabbing him with a sharp toothbrush in his hand!

"You dared to bully me! You dared to bully me! I'm not afraid of death, why would I be afraid of you? I'll kill you!" Lai Donglin roared as he swung his arm and stabbed the skinny monkey, looking like a madman.

Blood splattered!

For a moment, everyone was stunned by the scene before them. When did Lai Donglin become so fierce?

Poor Skinny Monkey, already short and weak, how could he withstand Lai Donglin's sudden madness? After screaming a few times, he suddenly fell silent, a sight that sent chills down one's spine.

When the prison guards arrived and pulled Lai Donglin away, the skinny monkey lying on the ground was already motionless.

Holy crap! Damn! Isn't this a bit too dry?

An Xiaohai had goosebumps all over his body. As soon as the prison guard left, he rushed to the washstand.

There was blood everywhere from the fight. If it got on my towel, I'd have to wash it for ages!
