Reborn in 1993, Dark Sea

Chapter 008 Wang Tiejun

After leaving the First Prison, Wang Tiejun did not go home, but went straight back to his team.

Wang Tiejun naturally wouldn't believe An Xiaohai's words alone regarding the situation in Haifeng Town. In fact, he had already had a vague suspicion, and An Xiaohai had simply revealed it to him.

Wang Tiejun picked up the phone on the table, intending to call the anti-drug team members, but then put it down after thinking about it.

An Xiaohai's words kept echoing in Wang Tiejun's mind.

"I trust the government, but I don't trust the very few bad apples hiding within it..."

Are there any bad apples in the anti-drug squad?

Wang Tiejun was unwilling to doubt his comrades; he never doubted them. He believed that his team members were the most outstanding and steadfast public security officers.

However, the series of setbacks recently have shaken Wang Tiejun's faith.

It's better to be safe than sorry! Any minor mistake in your work could have disastrous consequences, potentially even resulting in the sacrifice of an undercover officer!

The responsibility and consequences are far too serious.

"No, we can't afford to fail again this time, or it will be a fatal blow to everyone's confidence..."

Wang Tiejun made up his mind and picked up the phone again, but only sent pager messages to his two most trusted subordinates.

-----------

Having been in bed for ten days, An Xiaohai couldn't lie still any longer. He could only stand up and stretch from time to time. If he continued to lie like this, he would definitely get sick.

No one came to urge An Xiaohai to return to his cell, and the doctors and nurses seemed to have become a little nicer, perhaps because Yang Yuanbing had spoken to him.

Liu Cong would come to see An Xiaohai every day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. He always arrived on time, and each time he would simply ask about the situation and then leave. An Xiaohai did not take the initiative to have much interaction with him.

As for Liu Jun, he never appeared from beginning to end, and An Xiaohai had no interest in asking him anything.

An Xiaohai knew that his stab was both accurate and ruthless, much more so than the one Liu Jun had stabbed him with.

Liu Jun is completely ruined. He's probably groaning in some hospital somewhere out there right now. The prison infirmary definitely can't cure him.

If something like this happens in a cell, unless there's an irreconcilable hatred, generally no one will report it. Once someone does report it, the whistleblower will no longer be able to survive in that prison.

This is the law of survival in prison: you can fight each other to death, but you can't get help from the police.

Late at night on the 12th day, Wang Tiejun finally reappeared.

An Xiaohai secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Wang Tiejun's arrival meant that his actions had yielded results; otherwise, he wouldn't have appeared here.

"Tell me your conditions!" Wang Tiejun went straight to the point.

"I already stated my conditions last time."

"That's all."

Yes, those.

"This operation was a great success and yielded many results. I can submit a report and try to get your sentence reduced."

"No need. Doing that will only make me die faster."

"Are you sure someone wants to harm you?"

Wang Tiejun frowned again, and after thinking for a moment, he said, "An Xiaohai is probably worried that once he submits a report, several more people will find out about this. However, Wang Tiejun has a way to avoid this risk."

What puzzled Wang Tiejun was that An Xiaohai kept saying that someone wanted to harm him, but why would a mere kid like him want to harm him?

"Absolutely sure!" An Xiaohai nodded.

"Could you tell me who it is?"

"To be honest, I don't know either, but it must have something to do with the person I killed."

"I can help you look it up."

"No need, thank you!" An Xiaohai shook his head decisively.

Wang Tiejun is too upright. He's fine with arresting drug dealers, but let's forget about investigating this matter!

Firstly, they had crossed the line; secondly, An Xiaohai was certain that Wang Tiejun was no match for that person.

If Wang Tiejun messes things up, he will not only harm himself, but also Wang Tiejun. Wang Tiejun's situation will not be safer than An Xiaohai's, and An Xiaohai is well aware of this.

Wang Tiejun lit a cigarette and began to ponder.

Wang Tiejun may be honest, but he's certainly not stupid. He understood what An Xiaohai was saying and naturally understood An Xiaohai's concerns.

"You've been sentenced to ten years, I don't have that much time to wait for you to get out!"

After a long pause, Wang Tiejun finally spoke again. He knew that if he wanted An Xiaohai to help crack the Haiyao Group, he wouldn't be of much use while waiting in prison.

"Yes! Ten years, that's a long time!" An Xiaohai let out a soft sigh. "Captain Wang, you've probably been investigating the Sea Hawks for more than ten years now."

Wang Tiejun was stunned again, then his expression quickly turned cold.

Yes, Wang Tiejun has been investigating the Sea Hawk for more than 10 years!

During this long period of time, Wang Tiejun lost many things, including four undercover agents he personally selected and trained, as well as a comrade-in-arms who was as close as a brother to him, Luo Xiangyang.

Luo Xiangyang and Wang Tiejun can be said to have been friends since childhood. They were classmates from elementary school until they joined the police force together more than ten years later.

At that time, Luo Xiangyang went to the anti-drug task force, and Wang Tiejun went to the criminal investigation task force.

But one day not long after, Luo Xiangyang suddenly left and disappeared without a trace. His family searched everywhere in a panic, but a long time passed without any news.

Wang Tiejun naturally participated in the search, but he also failed to find Luo Xiangyang. Wang Tiejun was depressed for a long time because of this. Although he was very puzzled, he was helpless. It was as if Luo Xiangyang had vanished into thin air.

It wasn't until several years later that Wang Tiejun learned the truth through other cases. It turned out that Luo Xiangyang had gone undercover, and he had disappeared after only two months. There was no news of him until then, and his superiors judged that Luo Xiangyang had most likely sacrificed himself.

Three days after learning the news, Wang Tiejun, still grieving, submitted a report and was transferred to the city's anti-drug squad.

Luo Xiangyang was a painful memory that Wang Tiejun dared not even recall, and also his greatest obsession. It was from that moment on that Wang Tiejun began to relentlessly pursue various drug lords.

Deep in Wang Tiejun's heart lay a tiny hope: that Luo Xiangyang was not dead, but merely imprisoned by drug lords. Although he knew this hope was extremely slim, Wang Tiejun refused to let it be extinguished.

The drug cartel that Luo Xiangyang infiltrated back then was very likely the Sea Hawks.

"You know too much, which makes me very suspicious!" Wang Tiejun looked up again, his gaze towards An Xiaohai once more sharp as a blade.

An Xiaohai stared intently at Wang Tiejun, his eyes like an abyss.

A moment later, An Xiaohai lowered his head and avoided Wang Tiejun's gaze, not because he couldn't bear it, but because he didn't want to embarrass this upright police officer.

"Captain Wang, believe it or not, this is all I know for now. I've already applied for a transfer to another prison area, and I should be transferred to Area A soon," An Xiaohai said again after a long pause.

"Area A?"

"Yes, that area is full of serious criminals, and quite a few of them are drug traffickers. If I put in a little effort, I should be able to find out a lot of information for you."

"Are you just gathering information for me?"

"Of course, it's also for my own sake. I'll report to you once a month. Of course, I still need to think about how to report specifically; the main thing is that the fewer people who know about this, the better..."

"You don't need to emphasize this repeatedly! Your real intention is for me to monitor your situation every month, so that I'll know quickly if anything unexpected happens to you, right?"

"As expected, nothing can be hidden from Captain Wang!" An Xiaohai chuckled softly.

"Okay, I'll arrange how we communicate. I'll also try to arrange some necessary training for you."

"Thank you so much, Captain Wang! But really, there's no need for any training or anything like that!"

"No need? You need to understand what kind of desperados you're about to face!"

"Precisely because I know this, I don't need it! You all have a peculiar scent, and I'm afraid of picking it up; that would be even more dangerous!"

An Xiaohai's words stunned Wang Tiejun once again, and at the same time, he was shocked. What An Xiaohai said made a lot of sense!

Undercover police officers, because they have received long-term and systematic police training, are implicitly burdened with many constraints, which makes them appear somewhat different from real criminals.

This might be one of the reasons why they were exposed!

Wang Tiejun gave An Xiaohai a deep look: "The court has accepted your family's appeal. Are you sure there's nothing I need to do?"

"No need!" An Xiaohai said firmly. "If Captain Wang really wants to help me, it's not impossible, but it absolutely can't be through official channels. It would be best if it looked like he was using connections. I don't think Captain Wang is good at that."

Wang Tiejun did not answer, and after looking at An Xiaohai for a while, he turned and left.

Listening to Wang Tiejun's footsteps gradually fading into the distance, An Xiaohai let out a deep breath. Judging from Wang Tiejun's expression, he certainly wouldn't stand idly by; An Xiaohai had no doubt about that.

"Captain Wang, I hope you don't ruin things..."

An Xiaohai turned his gaze to the window. The infirmary window also had thick iron bars, but at least it was much larger than the windows in the prison cell…

Just then, the door to the infirmary was suddenly pushed open again, and a hospital bed was pushed in with exaggerated groans. When An Xiaohai saw the person on the bed, his brows suddenly furrowed.
