Chapter 84 So you've accepted your fate?
"You're right," he said. "As long as there are living people coming in, your father will continue killing."
"So you've resigned yourself to your fate?"
"No." Zhou Lang wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. "That's why I'm going to kill your father and end all of this."
Emily was stunned.
"you……"
"You hate your father, right?" Zhou Lang said. "You hate him for turning you into this, for keeping you trapped here for over a hundred years. Then why don't you help me kill him?"
"I can't kill him." A vulnerability flickered in Emily's voice for the first time. "I tried, but I couldn't. He's my father..."
"He's no longer your father," Zhou Lang said. "He's a monster, a monster who will stop at nothing to achieve immortality. Your father died long ago, on the day he chose to perform that ritual."
Emily fell silent.
Zhou Lang continued, "Do you want to be trapped here forever, watching him continue killing, year after year, without end?"
"I……"
"Help me," Zhou Lang said, "Help me kill him, and then you'll be free."
Emily looked at Zhou Lang, the deathly stillness in her eyes slowly fading, and a glimmer of light appeared.
"Can you really kill him?"
"I can," Zhou Lang said, "but I need your help."
Emily remained silent for a long time before finally nodding.
"Okay," she said. "I'll help you."
Emily led Zhou Lang back to the ground.
Zhao Qiang and Han Yingying were startled when they saw them.
"She is..." Han Yingying looked at Emily warily.
"She will help us," Zhou Lang said briefly.
"Help us?" Zhao Qiang couldn't believe it. "She's a ghost!"
"I know she's a ghost," Zhou Lang said, "but we need her now."
Emily didn't say anything, she just stood quietly to the side.
"Where is Edward now?" Zhou Lang asked her.
"He spends his days in the master bedroom," Emily said. "That's the most heavily guarded place in the entire manor, with a dozen locks and traps he's set up."
"Can we go in?"
"Yes," Emily said, "but it's dangerous."
"I'm not afraid of danger," Zhou Lang said. "I just need to know how to get in."
Emily glanced at him, then turned and walked upstairs: "Come with me."
The four people went upstairs and arrived at the door of the master bedroom on the third floor.
The door was black, covered with dense runes, and exuded an ominous aura.
"These runes are seals," Emily said. "Only Edward can open them."
"What should we do then?" Zhao Qiang asked.
Zhou Lang didn't say anything, but raised the chainsaw.
"Wait!" Emily stopped him. "You'll alert him."
"Do you have a better idea?"
Emily was silent for a moment, then reached out and placed her hand on the door.
The runes began to glow, then one by one they went out.
The door slowly opened.
"You..." Zhou Lang looked at her.
“I am his daughter,” Emily said. “My blood is in his blood, so I can open this door. But this is my only chance. Once he discovers it, he will change the seal.”
Zhou Lang nodded and went into the room.
The room was large and luxuriously decorated, but dusty everywhere. In the center stood a huge bed, and on it lay a person.
Edward.
He had his eyes closed, as if he were asleep. But Zhou Lang knew he wasn't asleep.
"He's absorbing life force," Emily whispered. "He enters this state every day at this time, drawing life force from the servants in the manor."
"Shall we make our move now?" Zhao Qiang asked.
"No," Emily shook her head. "In this state, his defense is at its strongest. Any attack will be reflected."
"When can we do that?"
"Wait until he wakes up," Emily said. "The moment he wakes up, there will be a brief opening in his defenses. That's the only chance."
Zhou Lang looked at Edward on the bed and gripped the chainsaw tightly in his hand.
Time passed second by second.
Suddenly, Edward opened his eyes.
"Now!" Emily shouted.
Zhou Lang rushed forward and raised the chainsaw.
hum-
The chainsaw slashed at Edward's neck.
But the moment he touched him, an invisible force sent Zhou Lang flying.
"You think I didn't know you were here?" Edward sat up, a mocking smile on his face. "Emily, my good daughter, do you really think I didn't know you broke the seal?"
Emily's expression changed.
"you……"
"I let you open it on purpose," Edward said, "because I wanted to see who you would bring to kill me."
He looked at Zhou Lang, a hint of interest flashing in his eyes: "Interesting, you look exactly like me when I was young. Is this part of the game?"
Zhou Lang got up from the ground without answering.
"But that's not important," Edward stood up. "What's important is that you're all going to die here."
He reached out his hand, and the temperature in the room plummeted.
Zhou Lang felt a terrifying pressure pressing down on him, more than ten times stronger than Emily's power.
"You think destroying the altar will kill me?" Edward laughed. "That's only part of my power. The real power is within my body."
He walked towards Zhou Lang, and with each step he took, the surrounding air distorted a little more.
"I have lived for over a hundred years, absorbing the life force of thousands of people. What do you have to fight me with?"
Zhou Lang gritted his teeth, trying to stand up, but his body wouldn't obey him at all.
"Father, stop!" Emily stood in front of Zhou Lang.
"Get out of the way," Edward said coldly.
"No," Emily shook her head, "I won't let you kill anyone else."
"Then you should die with him."
Edward waved his hand, and a stream of black energy shot towards Emily.
Emily closed her eyes and awaited death.
But death did not come.
She opened her eyes and saw Zhou Lang blocking her way, a long spear made of black energy stuck in his back.
"You..." Emily was stunned.
Zhou Lang spat out a mouthful of blood, turned to look at her, and grinned: "I told you, I would kill him."
He reached out and grabbed the spear on his back, pulling it out with a swift motion.
Fresh blood gushed out.
"Are you crazy!" Zhao Qiang rushed over to help him up.
"Don't come any closer." Zhou Lang pushed him away, raised the black spear, and aimed it at Edward.
"This is your power, isn't it?" he said. "Then I'll use your power to kill you."
He threw the spear.
The spear sliced through the air and shot straight at Edward.
Edward tried to dodge, but the spear was too fast.
puff--
The spear pierced his chest.
Edward looked down at the spear in his chest, an expression of disbelief on his face.
"How is that possible..."
"Because this is your own power," Zhou Lang said. "Your own power, you can't stop it."
Edward's body began to disintegrate, crumbling away like sand.
"No...it's impossible...I can't die...I want to live forever..."
His voice grew weaker and weaker until it disappeared completely.
The room returned to calm.
Zhou Lang knelt on the ground, the wound on his back still bleeding.
"Zhou Lang!" Han Yingying rushed over to support him.
