He took out the chainsaw.

"Are you going to saw it open?" Han Yingying asked.

"Give it a try."

Zhou Lang started the chainsaw; the saw teeth spun at high speed, emitting a piercing sound. He pressed the chainsaw against the door, sparks flying everywhere.

The door began to shake.

The shaking intensified, and the entire room was shaking. Instruments on the wall fell down, and glass bottles shattered on the floor.

The "corpse" on the operating table suddenly sat up, stared at Zhou Lang, and let out a scream.

"Stop right now!" Zhao Qiang shouted.

Zhou Lang didn't stop; he increased the force, and the chainsaw cut deeply into the doorway.

The door cracked open.

A plume of black gas billowed out from the crack, instantly filling the entire room. The gas reeked of decay, making it difficult to breathe.

Han Yingying coughed: "What is this?"

Zhou Lang raised the oil lamp, and the green light shone on the black gas, causing the gas to immediately dissipate.

"Don't inhale it," he said.

Black gas churned in the room, gradually coalescing into a human shape. It was a man dressed in a long black robe, with a pale face and sunken eyes.

"You shouldn't have come here," the man said in a low voice.

Zhou Lang looked at him: "You're the owner of the manor?"

The man laughed, a laugh tinged with madness: "I am the master of this place, and also its prisoner."

"What do you mean?"

"I sought immortality, yet I am trapped here," the man said. "I created an immortal body, but the price was the loss of my freedom. I cannot leave this manor, I cannot leave this room."

"What about the servants?" Zhou Lang asked. "Why did you use them for experiments?"

"Because I need it," the man said matter-of-factly. "Immortality comes at a price, and their sacrifice is worthwhile."

Zhou Lang stared at him, his eyes devoid of any emotion: "You think it's worth it?"

"Of course," the man said. "Any price is worth paying for immortality."

"So, have you gained eternal life now?"

The man's smile froze.

"You've just become a monster trapped here," Zhou Lang said. "Is this the immortality you wanted?"

The man's face contorted: "Shut up! What do you know? I just haven't succeeded yet. With a few more test subjects, I can perfect the formula, and then I can truly achieve immortality!"

"So you turned all the servants into ghosts, so they could continue working for you?"

"They were my property to begin with," the man said. "I have the right to dispose of them as I see fit."

Zhou Lang smiled.

The smile startled the man.

"What are you laughing at?"

"I laugh at your stupidity," Zhou Lang said. "You think you're pursuing immortality, but you're already dead."

The man's expression changed: "What did you say?"

"You are a ghost now," Zhou Lang said, "a ghost trapped here, still dreaming of immortality."

The man was silent for a few seconds, then suddenly burst into laughter.

"Yes, I am a demon," he said, "but I am the most powerful demon. In this manor, I am a god!"

As soon as the words were spoken, the entire room began to change. The walls melted, the floor cracked, and the ceiling disappeared. The surrounding scenery distorted, transforming into a giant laboratory.

Countless operating tables appeared all around, each with a corpse lying on it. The corpses simultaneously opened their eyes and stared at Zhou Lang and his companions.

"You cannot escape my domain," the man said. "Become my test subjects, dedicate yourselves to immortality, it is your honor."

The corpses sat up from the operating table, their movements stiff but swift. They jumped off the table and walked towards Zhou Lang and his companions.

Zhao Qiang's face turned pale: "What do we do?"

Zhou Lang looked at the oil lamp in his hand, then at the chainsaw.

"Run," he said.

"What?"

"Run first, I have a plan."

The three turned and ran, with the corpses in pursuit. They were incredibly fast, and there were so many of them, so densely packed, it was terrifying to look at.

Zhou Lang ran while observing his surroundings. The laboratory was large, but not infinite; it had walls on all sides, but these were obscured by the distorted space.

He needs to find the core of this field.

"Turn left!" he shouted.

The three turned into a passage, with the corpses following closely behind. At the end of the passage was a door, which Zhou Lang kicked open, revealing a small room.

In the center of the room was a glass cabinet, inside which was a heart.

The heart was still beating, and with each beat, the whole room vibrated.

"This is..." Han Yingying's eyes widened.

"The core of the domain," Zhou Lang said.

He raised the chainsaw and aimed it at the glass cabinet.

"No!" a man's voice came from all directions, "You dare!"

Zhou Lang ignored him and cut the glass cabinet with the chainsaw.

The glass shattered, and the heart was exposed to the air. It beat faster, making a piercing sound.

Zhou Lang reached out and grabbed his heart.

His heart was burning hot, so hot it hurt his palms. But he didn't loosen his grip; instead, he clenched it even tighter.

"Let go!" the man's voice turned shrill. "Let it go!"

Zhou Lang looked at the heart in his hand and suddenly smiled.

"You're saying this is your heart?"

"Yes! That's my heart! It's the key to my immortality!"

"What would happen if I crushed it?"

The man fell silent.

Zhou Lang applied force with his hand.

The heart begins to deform, and cracks appear on its surface.

"Wait!" the man shouted. "We can talk! What do you want? Money? I have plenty of money! Or immortality? I can give you immortality!"

"I don't need it," Zhou Lang said.

He applied force again with his hand.

With a snap, my heart shattered.

Black liquid dripped from between his fingers, making a sizzling sound as it fell to the ground.

The entire laboratory began to collapse.

The walls disappeared, the operating table disappeared, and the corpses disappeared as well. The surrounding scenery returned to normal, and they were back in the basement room.

The man's figure became transparent. He knelt on the ground, looking at Zhou Lang in disbelief.

"You...you ruined my immortality..."

"You never had immortality to begin with," Zhou Lang said. "You're just a dead man with an obsession that's too deep."

The man's figure grew fainter and fainter until it disappeared completely.

The room returned to silence.

Zhao Qiang collapsed to the ground, panting heavily: "That scared me to death..."

Han Yingying also breathed a sigh of relief, but her gaze towards Zhou Lang was somewhat complicated.

When Zhou Lang crushed the heart just now, his expression was too calm, so calm it was frightening.

Zhou Lang didn't notice her gaze; he was checking the room.

There was a box in the corner, so he went over and opened it.

The box was filled with gold coins, roughly estimated to be over a thousand.

"I've struck it rich," he said.

Zhao Qiang got up and his eyes widened when he saw the gold coins in the box: "So many?"

"The manor owner's private stash," Zhou Lang said, "is now ours."

He put the gold coins into his inventory, then turned and walked away.

"Wait a minute," Han Yingying called out to him, "What about the servants?"

"What? What should we do?"

"They were all killed by the manor owner. Now that the manor owner is dead, what if they...?"
