A bizarre and terrifying experience; I messed up the dungeon world.
Chapter 518 The grunts might not be able to
The corpse remained motionless, gradually turning into black smoke and dissipating.
"They won't be resurrected?" Fang Yi breathed a sigh of relief.
"The grunts probably won't," Liu Qian said. "The intelligence says the one that will be resurrected is a three-star ghost, the Stitched Corpse Demon."
"Then let's continue," Old Chen said.
The group continued forward. Over the next half hour, they encountered two more groups of weak ghost soldiers, each consisting of three to five individuals. Zhou Lang barely had to lift a finger; Old Chen and Ma Zhuang easily dealt with them.
Zhou Lang had been observing Gu Nian.
This woman never lifted a finger. In every fight, she stood at the very back, silent, offering no help, and showing no sign of panic. She was observing something.
"You don't have a weapon?" Zhou Lang walked up to her and asked.
Gu Nian glanced at him: "Yes."
"What?"
"It's not convenient to say."
Zhou Lang didn't press the matter. He changed the subject: "How come you were assigned to Rank A on your second time entering the dungeon?"
"Bad luck," she said.
The answer was essentially meaningless, but Zhou Lang noticed that the corners of her mouth curled up slightly when she said it. It didn't seem like she was mocking herself.
She wasn't afraid. Zhou Lang thought to himself. Most people would have collapsed long ago after being thrown into A-level on their second entry into the dungeon. This woman not only didn't collapse, but even seemed quite composed.
He's either stupid or really capable.
"There's a large space ahead," the bandaged man suddenly said. "The aura inside... is different. Much stronger than the ones we just encountered."
Zhou Lang stopped in his tracks.
"What's wrong?" Old Chen turned around.
"There's something big up ahead," Zhou Lang said. "It might be the Stitched Corpse Demon."
Old Chen's expression turned serious. He waved his hand, signaling everyone to stop.
"Samsung Ghost," Liu Qian whispered, "Everyone, are you ready?"
Ma Zhuang stretched his neck: "Since we're already here..."
Zhou Lang gripped the chainsaw tightly and walked at the front.
At the end of the corridor was a double iron door with a rusty sign hanging on it that read "Workshop No. 3".
The door wasn't closed properly, and a dark red light shone through the crack.
Zhou Lang used his cane to push open the door.
The workshop was very large, at least four or five hundred square meters. Various abandoned industrial equipment were piled up in the middle, and countless iron chains hung from the ceiling.
A dark red light emanated from the center of the workshop. Something... stood there.
Three meters tall. Sewed together from at least seven or eight human corpses. It has four arms, three legs, and two faces sewn onto its head. The stitches are alive, wriggling like earthworms.
Stitching Corpse Demon.
It turned around. All four eyes simultaneously looked at the eight people in the doorway.
The stitched-up corpse demon did not attack immediately. It tilted its two-faced head, looking at them as if sizing up prey.
"There's only one," Old Chen said in a low voice. "The intelligence says there are ten, possibly scattered in different areas. If it's just one, eight people should be able to handle it."
"A three-star monster's combat power is about twenty times that of a one-star monster," Liu Qian quickly added. "Don't try to fight it head-on; find an opening."
Ma Zhuang has already rushed out.
"This guy—" Old Chen cursed and rushed forward.
Ma Zhuang was incredibly fast; his iron knuckle duster slammed into the stitched-up corpse demon's knee with a whoosh. A crisp crack echoed as his fist struck the stitches, tearing open a gash. Black liquid gushed out.
The Stitching Corpse Demon looked down at its wounds, then swung down all four arms at once.
Ma Zhuang rolled backward, dodging three of them. The fourth grazed his back, tearing his clothes and tearing his flesh open.
"Ma Zhuang!" Fang Yi called out.
"A superficial wound." Ma Zhuang stood up, grinning. "This thing is strong; be careful not to get hit head-on."
Old Chen circled around to the side, plunging his dagger into the waist of the stitched-up corpse demon. The dark blade sank into the muscle, making a hissing, corrosive sound—the special effect of the ghost weapon.
The Corpse Demon cried out in pain, and swung an arm at him. Old Chen reacted quickly, ducking to dodge, and as he pulled out his dagger, a large chunk of rotting tissue came out with it.
Zhou Lang, carrying a chainsaw, circled around to the back. Once the attention of the stitched-up corpse demon was drawn to Lao Chen and Ma Zhuang, he started the chainsaw and slashed at the base of its hind legs.
The chainsaw felt heavy as it cut into flesh; the bones inside were much harder than normal. Zhou Lang increased the force, and the chainsaw roared, finally severing most of the leg.
The stitched-up corpse demon swayed, its three legs reduced to two and a half, and it could no longer stand. It roared, and suddenly all the stitches on its body came undone—
Body parts were scattered all over the ground.
"Dead?" Xiaotao peeked out from behind the door.
"That's not right." Zhou Lang took a step back.
The scattered pieces of flesh wriggled on the ground. They weren't dead; they were reassembling. Seven or eight fragments of flesh each grew new limbs, transforming into—
Seven miniature Frankenstein's monsters.
Each one is only one meter tall, but its speed is more than twice as fast.
"Damn it," Old Chen cursed.
The seven little stitched monsters launched their attack simultaneously. Unlike before, they were no longer clumsy; instead, they scurried along the ground like rats, pouncing from all directions.
Ma Zhuang punched one of them away, but the other two had already climbed onto his back, their sharp nails digging into his shoulders. Ma Zhuang grunted, reached out and ripped them off, then smashed them on the ground.
Old Chen handled the situation relatively calmly; the corrosive effect of the dagger was very effective against these small creatures, paralyzing them for a few seconds with a single cut. However, there were too many of them, and he couldn't deal with them all at once.
Zhou Lang swept his chainsaw across, slicing the two objects rushing towards him into pieces. The pieces continued to move after hitting the ground, but they didn't recombine; they just twitched a few times and then stopped moving.
"They're too small to split further!" Zhou Lang shouted. "Chop them up!"
Old Chen heard this and changed his dagger technique, no longer aiming for a single fatal blow, but instead repeatedly slicing. Ma Zhuang was even more direct, punching each of the little stitched monsters into mincemeat.
Fang Yi hid in the back row, pulled a syringe from his chest, and injected it into a small stitched monster that had crawled to his feet. After the liquid in the syringe was injected, the little monster stiffened and froze as if it had been frozen.
"Anesthesia?" Zhou Lang asked.
"A paralyzing agent," Fang Yi said. "It only lasts for thirty seconds."
Thirty seconds was enough. Zhou Lang swung his saw down, slicing the stiff little monster to pieces.
Liu Qian stood in front of Xiao Tao, quickly drawing a circle in the air with her red chalk. A red halo appeared in front of her, blocking the two small monsters that lunged at her. Xiao Tao crashed into the halo as if into an electric net, hissing and smoking as it was flung away.
"A defensive formation," Liu Qian said, "but it can only block the front; don't let them get around to the back."
Xiao Tao, hugging her teddy bear, suddenly said, "Bear, bite it."
The teddy bear's mouth opened.
A little stitched monster came around from the side, and the teddy bear flew out of Xiao Tao's arms. Its tattered cloth mouth opened to an impossible angle and swallowed the little stitched monster whole.
The teddy bear landed back in Xiao Tao's arms and burped.
Zhou Lang glanced at it but didn't say anything. You can't judge a little girl's toys by common sense.
The last little Frankenstein's monster was crushed by Ma Zhuang. The workshop fell silent.
