Chapter 29 Organs
"The dean is monitoring this place!" Zhou Lang realized. "We have to go!"
The moment he finished speaking, the door to the room slammed shut.
The sound of a cane tapping the ground rang out, and the butler appeared at the door.
"I told you not to come here," its voice was colder than usual, "but you still came."
Zhou Lang stood in front of Zhao Qiang and Han Yingying, reaching into his pocket.
"Don't be nervous." The butler tapped his cane. "I won't kill you, at least not now."
"So what do you want to do?"
"I want to make a deal with you." The butler walked to the operating table, looking at the assembled pieces. "Help me complete this piece, and I'll let you go."
"Completed?" Zhou Lang sneered. "You mean continue killing, continue collecting materials?"
"No need to kill anyone." Butler Sha shook his head. "We have enough materials; we're just missing one last thing."
"What is it?"
"A heart." The butler turned around. "A truly living heart, full of love."
Zhou Lang was stunned.
"You're crazy," Zhao Qiang couldn't help but say. "Who would give you their heart?"
"Yes, there is." Butler Sha looked at Zhou Lang. "As long as he's willing."
"Why me?" Zhou Lang asked.
"Because you are related to her by blood," the butler said. "Only the heart of a blood relative can awaken her soul."
Zhou Lang's mind was buzzing.
Blood relatives.
That face.
sister.
"She's my sister?" His voice trembled slightly.
"She used to be," the butler said, "but now, she's just a wandering soul, trapped in this game, never to escape."
"So you want to use my heart to resurrect her?"
"It's not resurrection, it's rebirth," the butler corrected. "Give her a new body, a new life, so she can start over."
Zhou Lang fell silent.
If this is true, if my sister is really trapped here…
"Don't listen to it!" Han Yingying suddenly said, "This is definitely a trap!"
"That's right," Zhao Qiang said, "It's trying to deceive you!"
Zhou Lang knew they were right, but a voice inside him still asked, "What if it's true?"
"I need evidence," he said, looking at the butler, "proof that the owner of that face is indeed my sister."
The butler remained silent for a moment, then took out a photograph from his pocket.
The photo shows a young girl in a school uniform, smiling brightly.
Zhou Lang took the photo, his hands trembling.
The back of the photo reads: Zhou Wan, sixteen years old.
That was my older sister's name, and her age before she disappeared.
"This is impossible..." Zhou Lang muttered to himself, "My sister disappeared a month ago, how could this be..."
"Time has no meaning here," the butler said. "She may have been here for a month, or she may have been here for ten years, or even longer."
Zhou Lang stared at the photo, his mind a complete mess.
"I need time to think about it," he said.
"Okay," Butler Kill nodded, "but not for too long. This body can't hold on much longer."
After saying that, it turned and left, and the door reopened.
When the three of them walked out of the basement, it was almost dawn.
Back in his room, Zhou Lang sat on the bed, staring blankly at the photo.
Zhao Qiang and Han Yingying were also there, and neither of them knew what to say.
"Do you really believe what it says?" Han Yingying broke the silence.
"I don't know." Zhou Lang rubbed his face. "But if there's even the slightest possibility..."
"You can't gamble with your life!" Zhao Qiang exclaimed anxiously. "If you die, who will save your sister?"
Zhou Lang remained silent.
He knew Zhao Qiang was right, but that voice inside him still lingered.
"I have an idea," Han Yingying suddenly said. "We can ask the ghosts in the other rooms and see if they know about this."
"Will it work?" Zhao Qiang asked doubtfully.
"Trying something is better than doing nothing," Han Yingying said.
Zhou Lang thought for a moment and nodded: "We can give it a try."
On the second day of work, Zhou Lang went to several other rooms.
The splicing monster in room 5 remained silent for a long time after hearing his question.
"I know that girl," it concluded. "She has indeed been here, and more than once."
"What do you mean?"
"She's a player, just like you," the splicer monster said, "but she's different from others. She always gets a perfect rating and has never failed."
Zhou Lang's heart tightened.
"And then?"
"Later, the director noticed her." The splicer's voice deepened. "The director thought she was special and wanted to keep her."
"Then?"
"Then she disappeared," the splicer said. "Nobody knows where she went, but there's a rumor that the headmaster hid her in the basement."
Zhou Lang clenched his fist.
"Was that assembled body really prepared for her?"
"It should be," the spliced monster said. "The Dean killed many people for her, including me."
Zhou Lang left room 5 and went to rooms 7 and 8.
The answers were all similar: the girl did exist, and the dean did indeed want to resurrect her.
But nobody knows where she is now.
That evening, Zhou Lang went to the basement again.
He came alone this time; Zhao Qiang and Han Yingying were left upstairs by him.
He stood in front of the composite body, staring at the face that looked exactly like his sister's.
"If you really are the older sister..." he said softly, "give me a signal."
The assembled structure did not respond.
Zhou Lang waited for a long time, and just as he was about to leave, those black eyes suddenly opened.
"younger brother…"
A familiar voice rang out, weak, but it was indeed her sister's voice.
Zhou Lang's eyes instantly reddened.
"sister?"
"It's me..." the voice said. "I'm trapped here... It's so cold... It hurts so much..."
"I'll get you out of here right now!" Zhou Lang rushed to the operating table.
"No..." his sister's voice stopped him, "This body isn't mine... My soul is trapped somewhere else..."
Where?
"In...the dean's...room..."
The sound grew weaker and weaker until it disappeared completely.
Zhou Lang stood there, his mind racing.
The dean's room.
He hasn't been there yet.
Chapter Nine: The Dean's Secret
Zhou Lang rushed out of the basement and headed straight for the third floor.
The dean's room is on the top floor, the fourth floor, and the door there is always locked.
But now, he can't care about that anymore.
He raised the chainsaw and swung it at the door lock.
A piercing sound rang out; the lock was sawed off, and the door was kicked open.
The room was dark, with only moonlight streaming in through the window.
Zhou Lang walked in carrying an oil lamp, the green light illuminating the layout of the room.
It was a large room, simply furnished with a bed, a desk, and a huge bookshelf.
The bookshelf was filled with all sorts of bottles and jars, each containing different organs.
Zhou Lang forced himself to suppress his nausea and searched the room.
He searched everywhere and finally found a diary in a desk drawer.
The diary is old, and the cover has turned yellow.
