Wen Zhaoci was completely stunned, his dark pupils slightly contracting. This was the first time Sang Jiuning had taken the initiative like this.

In the past, most of their intimacy was initiated by him, who took the initiative to approach and make demands, while Sang Jiuning was always gentle, passive, and obediently cooperative.

This is the first time I've been so assertive and direct in taking initiative.

A tremendous surprise and warmth instantly filled his chest. The bitterness and grievance in his heart dissipated at this moment, leaving him with a sweet and numb feeling that was so comfortable that he could indulge in it to the extreme.

Sang Jiuning leaned over him, looking down at the man beneath her, and began to kiss his eyebrows, nose, lips, and chin, from top to bottom...

After a long silence, Sang Jiuning's expression was languid, but she asked earnestly, word by word, "Wen Zhaoci, do you feel how much I love you?"

Wen Zhaoci's Adam's apple bobbed slightly, his heart burning. How could he not feel it?

But he harbored a little secret.

He secretly thought that if he were a little more stubborn and a little more aggrieved, would he be able to get more of his wife's favor?

So he looked up at her, his eyes still filled with lingering fear and unease, and his voice was soft and hesitant: "I...I'm still afraid my wife will abandon me."

Looking at him like this, Sang Jiuning tenderly stroked his eyebrows and eyes, "Then how will you stop being scared?"

Wen Zhaoci's gaze slowly moved down, landing on her slender, fair ankles.

Sunlight fell on the golden chain and the small bell, shimmering with a delicate luster, unique and belonging solely to him.

He lowered his head slightly, his warm breath gently brushing against her ankle, kissing the cool chain, and then kissing the swaying little bell.

After the kiss, he looked up, his eyes serious: "Wife, just wear this and stay with me for a few days, okay? Let me watch over you and feel at ease."

Sang Jiuning frowned slightly upon hearing this and replied truthfully, "Honey, I have to go to class. Final exams are coming up soon, and I can't miss any."

She thought these words would make him compromise, or even make him unhappy.

Unexpectedly, Wen Zhaoci remained silent for a few seconds, as if he had been carefully considering it for a long time, and finally made the biggest concession.

He looked at her and said, "Then I'll go to class with you. While you're in class, I'll stay by your side and won't bother you. After class, we'll stay in the apartment. You can just wear it like this, and we won't go anywhere else. Just stay with me, okay?"

Sang Jiuning looked at him quietly.

She felt no annoyance whatsoever. She knew that Wen Zhaoci wasn't being unreasonable; he simply loved her too much and was too afraid of losing her.

This slight clinginess is not a flaw in her eyes at all.

She raised her eyebrows and nodded, "Okay, I'll do whatever you say."

Over the next few days, Sang Jiuning truly experienced what it meant to be inseparable from someone.

Wherever he went, Wen Zhaoci followed.

They left for school together in the morning. She went to class, and he sat quietly in the last row of the classroom, his eyes fixed on her the whole time.

During breaks, because of Wen Zhaoci, everyone knew he was their fiancé, and Wen Zhaoci himself had an exclusive aura of "this person is mine," so no classmate was tactless enough to come and talk to Sang Jiuning.

We eat lunch together at the cafeteria, study together at the library in the afternoon, and return to the apartment together in the evening.

Back in the apartment where there were only two people, Wen Zhaoci completely shed all restraint and civility.

He was like a big dog that had finally returned to its own territory and was completely dependent on its owner, sticking to Sang Jiuning's side all the time.

Sang Jiuning sat on the sofa playing on her phone, while he lay obediently with his head on her lap, letting her touch his hair.

Sang Jiuning was tidying up her desk and doing her homework when he stood behind her, gently hugging her waist and nuzzling his head against her neck.

Whenever Sang Jiuning stopped what she was doing, he would raise his head slightly, look at her with his dark and gentle eyes, his shirt open, wearing the cool clothes that he had prepared for himself at some point, waiting for her comfort and touch.

Sometimes Sang Jiuning felt helpless at his clinginess, so she reached out and ruffled his hair, teasing him softly, "Wen Zhaoci, why are you getting more and more clingy? And you're always teasing me."

Wen Zhaoci hugged her waist tightly, buried his face in her neck, his breath filled with her sweet scent, and asked with a satisfied languor, "Does my wife like it?"

Sang Jiuning was naturally delighted. This man was so incredibly handsome, almost unfairly so. He knew how to charm and flirt, and was perfect in every way except for his insatiable nature.

The bells on their ankles swayed gently from time to time, their tinkling sounds lingering in their ears.

The chain was so thin it was almost invisible, yet exquisite and beautiful. Sang Jiuning loved it and wore it every day.

Even the thinnest chain, when pressed against the skin every day, will eventually become unbearable over time.

Wen Zhaoci had just come out of the shower, her wet hair still dripping with tiny water droplets, and she simply wore a loose black t-shirt.

His gaze immediately fell on the girl's exposed ankle. On her originally fair and delicate skin, there was a faint red mark. The red mark was embedded lightly in the flesh along the outline of the chain, which looked particularly glaring.

He stopped abruptly, filled with self-reproach and heartache.

He walked slowly over and knelt down in front of Sang Jiuning. He carefully hovered his fingertips over the red mark and spoke softly, his voice filled with unconcealed guilt: "Wife, let's not wear it anymore in the future."

Hearing the sound, Sang Jiuning looked up at him, her eyebrows curved and a faint smile on her face, not caring at all about the red marks on her feet.

She gently swayed her ankle, and the silver bells jingled softly again.

"Why don't you wear it?" she asked softly and relaxedly. "I think it's fine. It's thin and doesn't get in the way. I'm used to wearing it, and it doesn't feel awkward at all."

Looking at her completely indifferent expression, Wen Zhaoci felt a pang of sadness and bitterness in her heart.

Only he himself knew that this seemingly beautiful and harmless anklet was originally a shackle he hid in his obsessive mind.

The unease in his bones had never disappeared. Even though Sang Jiuning was by his side every day, always going along with him, gentle and obedient, he was still afraid.

He was afraid that such a dazzling and gentle girl would be targeted by others, afraid that one day she would get tired of his possessiveness, afraid that she would leave quietly and disappear completely from his world.

So he put this thin anklet with bells on her, simply so he could hear her every move and so that she would bear his mark.

For the past week, he secretly stared at the mark every day, watching helplessly as the faint red mark deepened day by day, turning from a light pink into a clear red line, like an indelible mark that constantly reminded him of his selfishness.

He struggled with the decision countless times, wanting to just pick it off, but every time he met Sang Jiuning's bright, affectionate eyes, he couldn't bear to spoil her mood.
