Ms. Gojo thought she was dating an ordinary person's boyfriend.
Chapter 54 "You weren't exactly easy to raise to begin with"
The guest rooms are rarely used, but Sumi Kichikawa always keeps them spotless, so all that's needed is to change the sheets and duvet covers.
Gojo Satoru casually leaned against the door frame, watching him busy at work, still clutching the crookedly cut teddy bear certificate in his hand.
"Sumiko, may I bring it in?" Gojou Satoru pointed to the certificate of merit.
Kikawa Sumi turned her head and looked at the somewhat comically drawn little bear: "You're going to sleep with it?"
"It did a lot of work today and needs to rest," Gojo Satoru said without any hesitation.
A hint of a smile appeared in Sumire Kikkawa's eyes: "Put it on the bedside table."
Gojo Satoru immediately put the certificate away.
"The bathroom is outside, and the new toothbrush is on the second shelf of the sink cabinet," Sumi Kichikawa instructed.
"I know, I've been to this apartment many times."
Sumire Kikkawa paused slightly.
I've been here many times, but this is the first time I've stayed overnight.
Gojo Satoru clearly realized this as well. He stood by the bed, looking down at the neatly made quilt, and fell silent.
"If the pillow is uncomfortable, you can change it."
"No." Gojo Satoru raised his head, his gaze meeting Sumi Kikawa's eyes. "It's prepared by Sumi, so it'll definitely be comfortable."
He was no longer joking around; a certain extremely tender emotion settled in his pale blue eyes.
"Xiao Cheng, I'm very happy today." He spoke softly. "I was happy with the activities, happy with dinner, happy to receive the award... I'm also happy that you let me stay."
Gojo Satoru usually expresses his emotions in an exaggerated and bright way, but when he sheds his nonchalant pretense and speaks in a low voice that is almost a confession, it is irresistible.
Sumi Kichikawa stood at the doorway, her fingers lightly resting on the door frame.
"I'm happy too," he replied softly, then closed the door behind him.
Goodnight, Wu.
After washing up, Gojo Satoru crawled into bed.
The quilt carried a faint scent of sunshine and laundry detergent; it was clean and soft, much like the scent of Sumi Kichikawa herself.
He had originally thought it would be difficult to fall asleep in an unfamiliar bed.
After all, he doesn't usually sleep very well.
When work is busy, it's hard to even get a full night's sleep. What's more, he's long been used to being interrupted by phone calls, schedules, and various unexpected arrangements, so even when he's resting, it's hard for him to truly relax.
But whether it was because the apartment was too quiet tonight, or because the scent under the covers was too comforting, he soon drifted into a deep, sweet dream after closing his eyes.
The next morning, Gojo Satoru was awakened by the faintest noises coming from the kitchen.
The aroma of food wafted in through the crack in the door.
He opened his eyes, stared at the ceiling for a while, and felt a long-lost lightness, like the lightness of someone who had truly had a good night's sleep.
Gojo Satoru was lying in bed when he suddenly laughed.
"Xiao Cheng's house is such a perfect place to sleep."
He sat up, saw the little bear certificate on the bedside table, and subconsciously reached out to touch the corner.
Sumire Kikawa is making him breakfast.
This realization put Gojo Satoru in a good mood, and he couldn't help but hum a couple of off-key lines while washing up.
When he finished washing up and came out, he saw the morning light shining brightly on Sumi Kichikawa.
He was wearing loose loungewear, with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, and was bending down to scoop the fried eggs into a white porcelain plate.
Toast, salad, coffee, and hot milk, along with a small dish of honey, were already laid out on the table.
"Awake?" Sumi Kichikawa turned her head.
"Good morning, Sumi." Gojo Satoru pulled out a chair and sat down, picking up a glass of milk as he did so.
Good morning. Did you sleep well?
"Unexpectedly good." Gojo Satoru poked the fried egg with his fork. "I don't think I've slept this soundly in a long time."
Kisakawa Sumi sat down opposite him, and upon hearing this, subconsciously glanced at Gojo Satoru: "Too busy with work?"
"Pretty much, the schedule is always a mess."
Kikawa Sumi pushed the honey dish towards him: "If you get tired in the future, you can come over to sleep anytime."
"Are you sure?" Gojo Satoru stared at him, as if confirming something. "I'll take this seriously."
"You can take it seriously." Sumi Kichikawa's gaze didn't waver at all. "I didn't put sugar in the fried egg; you can add honey yourself."
Gojo Satoru looked at the dish of honey that had been prepared especially for him and suddenly chuckled softly.
"Xiao Cheng, I've said it before, always indulging people without any limits will spoil them."
"Then let him spoil you." Sumi Kikawa sat down opposite him, a slight smile playing on her lips. "Anyway, you weren't exactly easy to raise to begin with."
Gojo Satoru chuckled, "So, Sumi finally figured it out?"
This breakfast was eaten quietly.
Gojo Satoru wasn't wearing sunglasses; his slightly curled white hair, still wet from sleep, was spread across his forehead, and his eyes were surprisingly clear in the morning light.
At first, Sumi Kikawa was able to concentrate on the salad on her plate, but gradually, her gaze began to drift uncontrollably toward the other side of the table.
"Sumi." Gojo Satoru, biting into his toast, precisely caught his gaze, his eyes gleaming with smugness. "You're spying on me again."
Somewhat embarrassed, Sumi Kichikawa looked away.
"I'm not quite used to it yet," he said, gently picking up his coffee. "Your face, and your eyes."
Gojo Satoru blinked.
"I knew you were beautiful before." Sumi Kichikawa took a sip of coffee, suppressing the slight heat rising in her ears, "but I didn't know seeing the whole thing would be so... distracting."
Gojo Satoru burst into laughter, his eyebrows curving into a beautiful arc. He leaned closer, resting his chin on his hand, and said, "Then, Sumi, take a look more often, and maybe you'll get used to it."
Sumire Kawakawa looked up at Satoru Gojo.
Are you sure?
Gojo Satoru paused abruptly, caught off guard. He had intended to tease him, but saw Kikkawa Sumima put down his cup and fix his gaze on his face without flinching.
From soft white hair to azure eyes, and then to the slightly upturned corners of her lips.
They inspected the area inch by inch downwards.
In the end, it was Gojo Satoru who couldn't take it anymore. He blinked uncomfortably, his long eyelashes trembling slightly, and he instinctively looked away: "Sumi..."
"You said it was okay to watch." Sumi Kichikawa lowered her eyes, slowly picked up her coffee again, and concealed the smile in her eyes.
Gojo Satoru lowered his head, rubbed the tip of his nose, and smiled resignedly.
In this confrontation, he was clearly defeated.
Before leaving, Sumi Kichikawa handed a paper bag to Satoru Gojo.
"If you're busy in the morning, bring this to tide you over. It's a ham and egg sandwich." Sumi Kikawa then pulled a jar of candy from her pocket and tossed it into the paper bag. "Even though this is sweet, don't just eat candy."
The two walked side by side on the street in the early morning.
The rising sun bathed everything in a pale gold light. Gojo Satoru put his black sunglasses back on, his light-colored jacket still standing out in the crowd.
As they walked, Sumi Kichikawa suddenly stopped.
"What's wrong?" Gojo Satoru stopped as well.
"Lower your head."
Gojo Satoru obediently lowered his head.
Kikawa Sumire raised her hand and very naturally smoothed a stray white hair that had sticked up on his forehead. The cool touch of her fingertips brushing against the hair made Kikawa Sumire's heart skip a beat.
Passersby couldn't help but turn around frequently to admire this overly eye-catching couple.
"Alright." Sumire withdrew her hand and continued walking forward with a normal expression.
Upon arriving at the station entrance, the crowd gradually thickened.
Sumire Kawakawa stopped and turned to look at Satoru Gojo.
"Enlightenment".
"Um?"
"If you get tired, you can come back to sleep anytime."
Upon hearing this, Gojo Satoru slowly curved his eyes into a smile: "I'll remember that."
Kikawa Sumi nodded, turned around, swiped her card, and entered the station.
As he stepped onto the ascending escalator, he turned around as if sensing something. Gojo Satoru was still standing at the bustling entrance, raising the hand holding the paper bag and waving vigorously at him across the crowd.
Kikawa Sumi lowered her eyes, a faint smile spreading across her lips, and raised her hand, waving it in the distance.
