Ms. Gojo thought she was dating an ordinary person's boyfriend.
Chapter 50 "I must remember everything related to Xiaocheng"
By the time the event ended, it was already dark.
The start screen on the small TV in the game area was still scrolling tirelessly. Fujii Makoto walked over and reached out to turn it off.
The electronic sound effects that had been playing all day finally quieted down.
Ono Haruka clutched the "King of Glory" certificate in her hand as the nurse pushed her towards the door. At the door, she even turned back to wave to Gojo Satoru.
"Mr. Gojo, will you come again next time?"
Gojo Satoru bent down and gave her a light high five.
"Come on. I'll win next time."
Haruka Ono looked at him with great confidence.
I will become stronger.
"That's great," Gojo Satoru said with a smile. "That's how challengers should be."
Kikawa Sumi stood beside her and pulled the blanket up her legs.
"Go back and take your medicine properly, and make sure to rest first."
Ono Haruka nodded obediently. Before leaving, as if remembering something, she suddenly leaned close to Kisakawa Sumi and whispered:
"Dr. Qichuan, your friend is really handsome."
It seemed like he was speaking softly, but he actually didn't suppress the sound at all.
Kikawa Sumi's hand, which was tucking the blanket in, paused almost imperceptibly.
Without warning, the striking, beautiful, and somewhat flamboyant azure blue of Gojo Satoru's eyes flashed through my mind again when he took off his sunglasses not long ago.
Miyazawa Chinatsu was packing her suitcase nearby when she heard this and couldn't help but laugh. She quickly pushed Ono Haruka away.
"Alright, Ono, if you keep going, your Dr. Kichikawa won't know how to respond."
The sound of the wheelchair wheels gradually faded into the distance.
Only a few people remained in the activity room to finish up.
As family members and children left one after another, volunteers began to tidy up the tables and chairs.
Unsold picture books in the charity sale area were put back into cardboard boxes one by one, and Chinatsu Miyazawa, along with two nurses, bent down to clean up the paper-cutting scraps and ribbons in the craft area.
Makoto Fujii squatted behind the game console, unplugging the controller cables one by one.
Gojo Satoru stood to the side for a moment, then asked, "Is there anything I can do?"
Fujii Makoto didn't even look up, and handed him a bundle of thread.
"Will it be a roundabout way?"
Wu Tiao Wu took the question and answered quickly.
Yes.
Ten seconds later, Fujii Makoto looked at the ball of thread in his hand and fell silent.
Gojo Satoru blinked.
"How about it? Pretty stylish, right?"
Fujii Makoto took the bundle of things back.
"You should go and move the boxes."
Gojo Satoru shrugged: "Okay."
Kikawa Sumi walked over and handed him the cardboard box containing the remaining small prizes.
"Put this in the storage room."
Gojo Satoru caught it, held it with one hand, and tossed it upwards.
"So light?"
"You want to move something heavy?"
"Teacher Gojo is very reliable, you know."
Fujii Makoto immediately pointed to the corner without any politeness: "Then you can move that box."
Gojo Satoru turned to look at Kigawa Sumire.
Kikawa Sumi avoided his gaze, only looking at the box of books: "That can be moved too."
Gojo Satoru chuckled softly, "Alright, I'll do as you say."
He walked over, easily picked up the heavy box of old books, and with a long stride, casually moved the small plastic stool blocking the road aside with his foot.
Several young volunteers nearby were tidying up posters, glancing this way out of the corner of their eyes.
One of them sidled up to Chinatsu Miyazawa and whispered:
"Ms. Miyazawa, is that really Dr. Kikawa's friend?"
Miyazawa Chinatsu didn't even look up: "Mm."
"It feels... amazing."
"In what areas are you good at?"
"I can't really explain it... At first I thought it was a celebrity doing charity work, but... it just felt like they were from a completely different world from us."
Miyazawa Chinatsu then stopped what she was doing and looked up.
Gojo Satoru, carrying a box, was walking side by side with Sumi Kikawa towards the storage room.
The corridor lights shone on his tall, straight shoulders and back.
He tilted his head slightly, talking to Sumire Kikkawa. Sumire Kikkawa replied with something, and Gojo Satoru immediately laughed after hearing it.
That smile was completely different from when he was teasing the child; it carried a hint of unguarded intimacy.
Miyazawa Chinatsu watched quietly for a while before looking away.
"Yes, not an ordinary person," she said. "She's a friend of Dr. Kichikawa."
The storage room is at the end of the corridor. It's not very big to begin with, and it's usually filled with spare folding chairs, balloons, paper cups, and unused flyers.
Once the door is closed, the space inside feels extremely cramped.
A low-wattage incandescent bulb shone overhead, casting a dim, yellowish light.
Gojo Satoru stuffed the box of old books into the bottom shelf, then took the small box from Kikkawa Sumi and pushed it into the gap on the top shelf.
"Is it okay to put it here?"
"Um."
Sumi Kichikawa held a few sticky notes and bent down to stick labels on them.
The space is too narrow.
Gojo Satoru was tall with broad shoulders and long legs. When he stood there, he took up most of the pitiful aisle.
A faint, clean, and slightly sweet scent emanated from him, amplifying his presence in the small, enclosed space.
After finishing affixing the last label, Sumi Kichikawa turned around and unexpectedly bumped into Satoru Gojo's arms.
They're too close.
So close that Sumi Kichikawa could see the faint light reflected from the edge of his sunglasses.
"Dr. Kosuke." Gojo Satoru lowered his head slightly, his voice sounding somewhat muffled in the small space.
"Mm," Sumi Kichikawa responded, instinctively taking a step back.
After walking only a few steps, my lower back bumped against the cold metal shelf.
There was no way to retreat.
Gojo Satoru didn't move, but his gaze followed the man's retreating movement. He suddenly chuckled softly.
"What are you hiding from?"
"I didn't dodge." Sumire's gaze fell on the line of his chin, not daring to look up.
His usual impeccable composure was nowhere to be found at this moment.
"It's so cramped here," Gojo Satoru drawled, not moving back but leaning forward slightly. "Aren't we a little too close right now?"
Kikawa Sumi's breathing became slightly sluggish.
He knew that Gojo Satoru was doing it on purpose.
This person was frighteningly perceptive; he probably noticed long ago that I had been acting strangely ever since he took off his sunglasses.
"Storage rooms are all like this." Sumire Kichikawa tried to keep her voice as normal as possible, but her hand unconsciously rose up and touched her earlobe.
It's a little hot.
These actions, of course, did not escape Gojo Satoru's eyes.
Gojo Satoru stared at his slightly flushed earlobes, the corners of his lips curving upwards involuntarily.
"Xiao Cheng, your ears are red."
Caught red-handed, Kikawa Sumi paused, put her hand down, and finally looked up at him.
Seeing that he had the upper hand, Gojo Satoru immediately raised his hands in surrender, but he couldn't suppress the smile on his face: "Okay, I won't say anything more."
The storage room fell silent.
The only faint sound coming from outside was the clanging of chairs being moved.
Just when Sumire thought this inexplicable embarrassment was finally about to pass, Satoru Gojo spoke up again.
"However," he lowered his voice a little, "Xiao Cheng praised me many times today."
Kikawa Sumi lowered her eyes, her gaze fixed on the notepad in her hand.
"Beautiful, good-looking, you look great today, and your face looks good too." Gojo Satoru repeated each word carefully, as if counting candies with the familiarity of a child.
"...Enlightenment."
"Um?"
"Your memory doesn't need to be this good."
Gojo Satoru chuckled softly.
He bent down slightly in front of Susumu Kikkawa, looking him straight in the eye.
"I must remember everything that concerns Dr. Kosumi."
Kikawa Seiichi was speechless for a moment.
He could usually handle all kinds of unexpected situations with ease, but he was somewhat at a loss when faced with Gojo Satoru's straightforward and almost frank approach.
Because he knew in his heart that his praise just now was not at all polite.
This put him at a disadvantage in this confined space.
"I'm just telling the truth," Sumi Kichikawa said softly.
"I know."
Gojo Satoru looked at him.
Even through those black lenses, Kikawa Sumi could still feel the weight of that gaze.
Gone was his usual nonchalance, and the mischievousness he had shown earlier when teasing him was gone.
In fact, Gojo Satoru didn't know how to take things further in such a cramped and ambiguous atmosphere.
He was used to being looked up to with awe or adoration by others.
But I've never been so close to anyone under such a dim light before.
He instinctively cornered Sumi Kichikawa, watching her lose her composure because of him, and felt a strange and amusing joy welling up inside him.
But he didn't know what to do next.
