We agreed it was just a hug, why did you actually do it?
Chapter 47 A Different Kind of Mother
Su Weile was a little surprised that Tang Shaowu agreed so readily.
And I also wondered if I was being a bit too dramatic. It's perfectly normal for two men to watch a little porn together. But I was being so hesitant and dawdling, it seemed a bit boring.
Su Weile tentatively asked, "Are you angry?"
Tang Shaowu said calmly, "No."
Su Weile touched his nose and said, "I really don't have those kinds of films. I'll ask Tie Tou for two tomorrow; he has plenty."
Tang Shaowu's tone remained indifferent: "Never mind."
Then I glanced at Su Weile's bedroom; it was just a standard boy's bedroom. But it was clear that it was usually kept tidy. Although there were many things, it wasn't messy.
When Tang Shaowu didn't speak, Su Weile also looked at him. The presence of Tang Shaowu in her room gave Su Weile a strange feeling.
He was happy. Just watching him relax so casually leaning against the tatami mat where he slept every day, Su Weile felt quite happy. He felt that he especially liked Tang Shaowu as a friend.
Neither of them spoke, but their eyes met unexpectedly, and they smiled at each other.
Su Weile asked softly, "Does your head still hurt?"
Tang Shaowu shook his head. "It doesn't hurt anymore, it's much better."
Su Weile also took a cushion, placed it on the tatami, and lay down next to Tang Shaowu.
"Tang Shaowu, you should continue to go to the hospital to try the medication. Didn't the doctor say back then that you needed to be observed in the hospital and then a suitable medication formula could be prepared for you? Because a single medication isn't very effective, it has to be mixed like this. Just listen to the doctor."
Tang Shaowu looked down at the boy lying next to him and said with a smile, "I don't like hospitals, and I have no one to keep me company."
Su Weile frowned and thought for a moment, but she really couldn't think of any other friends he had. She could only say, "You're such a grown man, why do you need someone to accompany you in the hospital? Don't you have Uncle Xu? And Brother Kai? I can call you every day too!"
Tang Shaowu remained silent, his expression indifferent, and turned his head to look at the starry sky outside.
Su Weile looked up at Tang Shaowu and felt that the night had become more beautiful.
"Tang Shaowu, how come you're so handsome? Do you look like your mother? I look just like my mother."
Su Weile recalled what her uncle had told her about Tang Shaowu's childhood experiences. With a touch of heartache, she gently twisted the silver needles in Tang Shaowu's hand, watching them slowly rotate on his skin.
Tang Shaowu said in a flat voice, "Yes, I look a lot like her, and maybe my personality is similar to hers too."
Su Weile tentatively asked, "Did Auntie die from an illness? My mother died from an illness. I was really heartbroken when I was in elementary school, and I still feel sad when I think about it now."
Tang Shaowu's lips curled up slightly, his smile somewhat cold. "You could say she was sick, but she committed suicide."
Upon hearing this, Su Weile was stunned for a long time. "Suicide? Why...why?"
"After I was born, she wasn't in a good state. She probably had postpartum depression. She had been trying to get treatment, but it wasn't very effective. One time, while I was sleeping, she grabbed my neck hard. My nanny found out and took me to the hospital, where I was saved."
From then on, I was placed in the care of a nanny, and she was sent back to her parents' home in Jiangcheng. I rarely saw her after that, and later, when I was seven years old, she committed suicide.
Su Weile sat up in shock when Tang Shaowu mentioned that he had almost been strangled to death by his own mother.
He couldn't imagine how a mother could kill her own son. In Su Weile's heart, a mother's love for her child was the most sincere and selfless love in the world, the kind of love that no amount of love could ever be enough.
After Tang Shaowu finished his calm statement, Su Weile was overcome with sadness. His eyes were very red, and he leaned forward to gently hug Tang Shaowu.
The hug lasted a long time, and Su Weile said with a slightly choked voice, "You must be feeling very sad."
Tang Shaowu let him hug him, chuckled softly and said, "I'm not sad. Compared to your longing and sadness over your mother's departure, I'm actually quite calm."
From the time I was born until her death, over those seven years, I probably saw her no more than ten times. Each time, she showed nothing but disgust or indifference towards me. I felt nothing about her leaving either.
Maybe I'm just naturally more aloof, or maybe I'm more like her. Anyway, I'm not in pain.
Su Weile was still hugging Tang Shaowu, gently patting his back and saying, "Why would she treat you like this? Is it because she has depression? She must be sick, she's not thinking straight."
Tang Shaowu's smile deepened as he said, "Not entirely. Her illness actually comes and goes. When she's sick, she hates me, and when she's well, she's annoyed with me. She and my father got married because she was pregnant. My father probably married my mother for the Jiang family's power."
As for whether my mother truly had feelings for him, or whether she only agreed to marry into the Tang family because of me, or for some other reason, I have no idea. She won't tell me, and I don't want to know.
All I know is that after my mother passed away, a new Mrs. Tang came into our family. She was a distant cousin whom my mother had always taken good care of. I didn't care, but what made me uncomfortable was that the woman brought a child with her—my half-brother. I was seven years old at the time, but they told everyone the child was five. In reality, my brother was a year older than me.
Su Weile had already released Tang Shaowu, and he opened his mouth in shock once again. His eyes widened, and he didn't know what to say.
He thought of what his uncle had said and deeply understood what it meant to say "the gates of a noble family are as deep as the sea." He also understood what his uncle meant when he said that "outwardly glamorous wealthy families actually have many dirty and sordid things going on inside."
Su Weile felt a pang of heartache that he couldn't bear. He gently patted Tang Shaowu's leg and said, "Tang Shaowu, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought up things that hurt you. You...you shouldn't be sad."
Tang Shaowu smiled and looked at him, saying, "You don't need to feel sorry. When I said I wasn't sad, I meant it; there was no intention of hiding anything. I don't feel heartbroken or upset, but I don't like being deceived. They all say I'm vindictive, and I think that's quite accurate."
Su Weile silently counted in her mind: Tang Shaowu's grandfather, father, mother, stepmother, and the brother who was actually his brother in public—none of his closest relatives treated him well. What kind of family was this? Su Weile grew angrier the more she thought about it. She secretly made up her mind that she must be nicer to Tang Shaowu and become his best friend.
After thinking it over, Su Weile suddenly said, "Tang Shaowu, didn't you want to watch porn with me? Come on, I'll watch it with you."
