Chapter 21 Was it you who plotted against me?
The other man also woke up instantly, and the two of them hurriedly grabbed the machetes at hand and rushed towards Yun Jin.
"Thief!" the man inside roared, his machete whistling as it slashed toward Yun Jin's face.
Yun Jin lightly touched the ground with her feet, dodging the blade while simultaneously scattering a handful of medicinal powder. The man on the outside couldn't dodge in time, his face covered in the powder, and he immediately collapsed to the ground.
The remaining man, seeing this, showed a flicker of fear in his eyes, but still gritted his teeth and swung his knife, shouting, "You brat, daring to cause trouble in the Liu residence, you're asking for death!"
Yun Jin's eyes turned cold, and she no longer held back.
By the dim light of the oil lamp, she began to fight with the man.
Although her opponent's swordsmanship was crude, it carried a brute force that forced her to retreat repeatedly.
Seizing an opening, Yun Jin ducked to avoid the cleaver, and then slashed at the opponent's arm with her short knife.
With a "sizzle," the blade sliced through the flesh, and blood gushed out instantly.
The man screamed and tried to back away, but the next second his eyes widened, his mouth gaped open in disbelief, and he fell straight down.
Yun Jin took a breath and went forward to tie up the unconscious man.
She touched the rope around her waist and found that there was very little left. She then walked to the small bed in the gatehouse, ripped off the bed sheet, tore it into sturdy strips, and put it into her storage space.
After dealing with the gatekeeper, she took a deep breath and made her way towards the main courtyard.
The lights in the main courtyard were still on. Madam Liu, Steward Liu, and the family physician were all in the main room. Judging by the time, Liu Sanlaizi should have woken up by now.
As soon as she reached the main courtyard gate, she heard Liu Sanlaizi's voice coming from inside the house: "Have you caught him yet?"
"Third Master, please forgive my incompetence. When our men went out, there was no one left outside the wall. I had someone check the footprints, and there were probably more than a dozen people. I dared not let them chase after them, for fear of falling into a diversionary tactic," Steward Liu replied. "However, I have them strengthen the security inside the courtyard to ensure everything is foolproof!"
Yun Jin couldn't help but sneer. This steward was really just spouting nonsense in an attempt to shirk responsibility.
Madam Liu fed Liu Sanlaizi some porridge, then led her maid back home.
After Yun Jin and the other two came out, she quietly followed them.
Madam Liu, accompanied by her dowry maids, walked towards the inner courtyard. The lanterns under the eaves cast long shadows of the two women.
The maidservant, carrying a food box, muttered, "Madam, don't worry too much. Third Master is a lucky man; he's awake now, isn't he?"
Madam Liu sighed, "She's awake, but how did she end up being drugged? I still feel uneasy."
Just as the two turned the corner, a gust of wind suddenly came from behind them.
Just as the maid was about to turn around, a hand covered her mouth and nose, and she collapsed to the ground after struggling for a moment.
Madam Liu was so shocked that her mouth dropped open. Before she could even utter a sound, she was struck hard on the back of the neck, and her vision went black as she fainted.
Yun Jin neatly tied the two up, dragged them to the bushes nearby, gagged them with a strip of cloth, and then turned back.
As soon as she arrived at the main courtyard gate, she saw the family physician carrying a medicine box coming out of the courtyard. She quickly followed him, knocked him unconscious, tied him up, and threw him in a corner.
At this point, apart from Liu Sanlaizi and the steward, no one in the Liu household was in the way anymore; they were either dead or unconscious.
Inside the room, Liu Sanlaizi was leaning against the headboard, his face still somewhat pale. He glared at the butler and asked, "Where's the young woman I brought back?"
The steward quickly bowed and said, "Reporting to Third Master, he's still locked in the woodshed. You've just woken up, so rest first. We can deal with him tomorrow."
"Where's that meddlesome poor scholar?" Liu Sanlaizi spat. "He keeps calling himself a scholar, but I wonder which backwater he came from, daring to meddle in my business?"
A sinister glint flashed in the butler's eyes: "When you fainted this afternoon, I interrogated him. That kid was very stubborn, saying he was alone and didn't know who ambushed you. I had him beaten up, but who knew he was so weak and passed out after only a few blows. I had him thrown into the room next to the second son's, thinking we'd decide what to do after you woke up."
Liu Sanlaizi sneered, "My fainting is most likely related to him! If it wasn't him, it must be! Daring to meddle in my business, I'll tie him up and feed him to the fish!"
Hearing this from outside the window, Yun Jin felt a surge of anger. She tightened her grip on the dagger. Those two beasts, neither of them was any good!
She quietly retreated to a corner of the courtyard, took the ox horn bow from her back, and drew out a bamboo arrow soaked in medicine.
Two thugs were still guarding the courtyard, leaning against a pillar chatting idly, completely unaware that death was approaching.
Yun Jin squinted, aimed, and suddenly released the bowstring.
With two sharp "whoosh" sounds, two arrows struck the two men's throats almost simultaneously.
They collapsed without even uttering a sound, clutching their necks.
Hearing the commotion outside, Liu Sanlaizi and the housekeeper inside the house suddenly sat up straight.
"What's that sound?" Liu Sanlaizi asked warily.
The butler also perked up his ears, his expression changing slightly: "It sounds like... a heavy object falling?"
The two exchanged a glance, both seeing unease in each other's eyes.
Just as the butler was about to get up to check, the door creaked open.
The two saw a masked person standing at the door, holding a short knife in his hand. The person was thin and it was impossible to tell whether he was male or female, but his exposed eyes were full of coldness.
"Who goes there?!" Liu Sanlaizi shouted, mustering his courage. "If you know what's good for you, you'd better get lost right now. Do you even know where you are?"
The butler, forcing himself to remain calm, grabbed a teapot from the table and threw it at Yun Jin, shouting, "Guards! There's an assassin!"
Yun Jin dodged the teapot by sidestepping it, and the teapot crashed to the ground with a loud bang, shards flying everywhere.
She walked into the house step by step, her voice as cold as ice: "The ones who will take your dog lives."
Liu Sanlaizi finally realized what was happening, his hand trembling as he pointed at Yun Jin: "It was you! You were the one who ambushed me this afternoon!"
"So what if I am?" Yun Jin raised her short knife, looking at his -87% favorability rating, knowing that this person was no good. The tip of her knife was pointed directly at his throat. "You forcibly took women and treated human life like dirt. It's time to pay your debt."
Seeing her head straight for Liu Sanlaizi, the butler, with a -75% favorability rating above his head, grabbed a stool from the ground and smashed it at Yun Jin's back, yelling, "You little brat, you're asking for it!"
Without turning her head, Yun Jin kicked her right leg back sharply, striking the side of the stool. With a loud crash, the stool flew out and smashed into the wall, breaking in two.
At the same time, she flicked her wrist, and the dagger in her hand shot towards the butler like an arrow. The butler hurriedly dodged, and the dagger "thudded" into the door panel behind him.
But he was a beat too slow; the sharp blade slashed his arm, and blood gushed out instantly.
He was about to yell and curse when his face suddenly turned black, a hoarse sound came from his throat, and he fell straight down.
