Director Jiang, don't let the divorce get out of control.

Chapter 61 Do you want to rekindle your old flame with her?

Madam Jiang's shocking remark stunned everyone.

Ji Shiyan, suspected adulterer: "??!"

He stared at Madam Jiang with a strange look in his eyes, and couldn't help but think, "I've never heard anyone say that Madam Jiang has mental problems."

Could it be that he/she has been stimulated by something?

Wen Ruan: "???"

Wen Ruan couldn't believe it either, thinking there was something wrong with her ears.

Did she hear that right?

What did Madam Jiang say?

"Grandma, what...what are you saying?"

Wen Ruan was almost incoherent.

Adulterer?

What is she thinking?

"I'd also like to know, was the person Madam Jiang was referring to... me?"

Ji Shiyan looked at Old Madam Jiang with a strange gaze, his eyes lingering on her head.

A flash of anger crossed the old lady's eyes, and her voice trembled as she questioned Wen Ruan, "If you have nothing to hide, why are you afraid to have this surgery? If you're innocent, what's wrong with getting a DNA test?"

Wen Ruan gritted her teeth and said, "Grandma, I'm only one month pregnant, so I can't have an amniocentesis!"

"This surgery can only be performed at the earliest sixteen weeks of pregnancy; forcing it now could lead to miscarriage..."

She suspected that the old lady might not actually be unaware.

But if we insist on her having this surgery, I'm afraid...

"Stop making excuses!" the old lady interrupted her sharply. "You've been secretly seeing Ji Shiyan all along, haven't you?"

"Are all those photos and rumors online just baseless rumors?"

She sneered, her gaze piercing Wen Ruan and Ji Shiyan like a knife: "Poor Yu Bai, you've completely fooled him, and he's still speaking up for you!"

Ji Shiyan was enjoying the play, but when he heard this, he finally couldn't hold back anymore.

He frowned, a hint of speechlessness flashing in his eyes: "Madam Jiang, are you alright?"

"What did you say?" Old Madam Jiang frowned slightly.

Ji Shiyan said unhurriedly, "I met Wen Ruan just a month ago, and it was at a work event. Apart from that, we have no private contact."

How did you come up with the word "adulterer"?

Being mistaken for a lover is something I've never experienced before in my life.

He glanced at Wen Ruan, then asked Old Madam Jiang, puzzled, "Or do you think I, Ji Shiyan, am so idle that I'd want to keep entangled with my ex-fiancée and end up becoming a father unexpectedly?"

These words were spoken without any politeness, and the old lady's face turned pale and then red.

The old lady's face turned completely cold, her tone leaving no room for argument, ignoring Ji Shiyan: "I said, this surgery must be done. No one can stop me today."

Looking at her cold and resolute face, Wen Ruan felt a chill suddenly rise in her heart.

She clenched her fists, her voice cold: "Grandma, do you want the surgery to find out the child's origins, or... do you simply not want Yu Bai to have a child?"

The question came suddenly, and the old lady's expression changed slightly, a strange glint flashing in her eyes.

Wen Ruan caught that fleeting glimpse of something unusual, and her suspicion deepened.

She had always felt that the old lady's attitude towards Jiang Yubai was somewhat subtle; her controlling and harshness went beyond the typical concern a grandmother has for her grandchildren.

Moreover, she had previously been skeptical.

It's now almost certain that the old lady simply didn't want to keep her child...

Is it because you think she's not good enough for you?

Do you want Jiang Wanxing to give birth to the Jiang family's next generation?

The old lady shouted sternly, "Stop talking nonsense! Guards, take her away!"

The bodyguards attempted to forcibly take Wen Ruan away.

Ji Shiyan stepped in front of Wen Ruan, a half-smile on his face, and said, "Madam Jiang, although Wen Ruan and I are no longer engaged, as a man, I cannot stand to see the Jiang family bullying her like this."

The old lady's face darkened: "Ji Shiyan, what do you mean? Do you really want to rekindle your old flame with her?"

Ji Shiyan frowned even more, and said irritably, "Do you have some kind of obsession with the phrase 'rekindling old flames'?"

"I've only met her at work. If you insist on putting this label on me, then all I can say is—"

He shrugged and smiled coldly: "Whatever makes you happy."

The old lady was thoroughly enraged by his nonchalant attitude: "Ji Shiyan, if you dare to obstruct me again, don't blame me for being impolite!"

Ji Shiyan's expression cooled slightly: "You're welcome? How do you intend to be impolite to me? It's been a long time since I've been threatened."

The last time was Jiang Yubai.

"I'll protect her today. If you're so capable, take her away from behind me."

The old lady's chest heaved violently with anger; she was about to erupt—

A deep, cold voice came from behind her.

"My wife doesn't need anyone to protect her."

Everyone turned their heads at the same time.

Jiang Yu's gaze behind his white gold-rimmed glasses was like the surface of a lake covered with thin ice, calm yet chilling.

Ji Shiyan raised an eyebrow when he saw the person who had arrived.

When Wen Ruan saw Jiang Yubai, her nose suddenly stung and her eyes burned.

Wasn't he supposed to be back in the afternoon?

How come you got back so quickly?

Jiang Yubai strode up to her, his gaze sweeping over her pale face before landing on her wrist, which had been gripped red by the bodyguard. His eyes darkened.

He reached out and grasped her wrist, his fingertips gently pressing against the red mark, his voice low: "Does it hurt?"

Wen Ruan shook her head, her voice a little hoarse: "It doesn't hurt."

Jiang Yubai pulled her to his side, looked up at the old lady, and asked, "Grandma, what do you mean by insisting that my wife have this surgery?"

On the way here, he had already found out what the old lady wanted to do to Wen Ruan when she brought her to the hospital.

A surge of anger welled up inside Jiang Yubai, making his aura even colder.

"I'm doing this for your own good! You have health problems, and she suddenly got pregnant. I'm just doing this as a precaution."

Old Madam Jiang spoke with such conviction, as if she genuinely cared about Jiang Yubai's well-being.

Jiang Yubai pondered for a moment, then said calmly, "That matter, I lied to you."

The old lady's pupils contracted sharply, her face turning ashen as she was choked by his words. "You...you would dare to tell such a lie just for this woman?"

She truly believed it back then!

Jiang Yubai's expression remained calm, his tone completely unwavering: "She's my wife. If I don't protect her, who will I protect?"

The old lady was so angry she couldn't speak.

Jiang Yubai, however, seemed oblivious to her anger and coldly said, "Grandma, this is the last time I'm telling you, stop interfering in my marriage and stop making things difficult for Wen Ruan."

"If you continue like this, I can choose never to return to the Jiang family. After all..."

A slight smile played on his lips, but it didn't reach his eyes: "You weren't really welcoming of me as your grandson, were you?"

The old lady's expression changed several times, her lips moved as if she wanted to say something, but in the end she couldn't say anything.

She gave Wen Ruan a cold glare, and finally said to Butler Chen with a stiff face, "Go back."

Butler Chen quickly helped her up, and the group soon disappeared from the hospital.

The doubts in Wen Ruan's mind grew larger and larger. She glanced at Jiang Yubai, but in the end, she didn't ask anything.
