Jiang Zhiyu came out of the raw material warehouse and walked along the dirt road to the gate of the experimental base.

The sentry at the gate recognized her immediately, snapped to attention, saluted, and let her through without asking any further questions.

She walked through two guard posts and three barbed wire gates, heading straight for Qian Weiguo's office with practiced ease.

She knocked twice on the door, and before anyone could answer, she pushed the door open and went inside.

Qian Weiguo was hunched over his desk reading documents when he looked up and saw her. His pen clattered to the table, and he scurried over to her. "My goodness, you just got here like that?"

"Otherwise, how would we get here?" Jiang Zhiyu sat down in the chair opposite him, catching her breath. "The ore has been mined, in the same spot. This batch should last you for at least another six months."

Qian Weiguo's eyes lit up as soon as he heard the word "ore".

But his gaze immediately fell on her stomach, his brows furrowing deeply. "Is the baby alright?"

Jiang Zhiyu waved her hand, "What could possibly happen? My child is incredibly resilient."

Qian Weiguo pulled up a chair and sat down next to her, seeing that she did indeed look quite well. Only then did he feel relieved.

Jiang Zhiyu deliberately changed the subject, "President Qian, aren't you bored spending all day here?"

Qian Weiguo slapped his thigh, leaned closer, and couldn't hide his excitement. "Boring? Do you know how much progress I've made here in just the last few months?"

He counted on his fingers, "Besides the new type of special steel you know about, the one that's publicly displayed, there's also the high-temperature blade alloy for aero-engines, which we've already figured out, but we can't disclose that. And high-purity single-crystal silicon—these are already taking shape. Do you know how much this changes the military industry?"

His voice trembled as he spoke, "This experimental base is unique in the whole country, a highly sought-after resource. We produce results every few months, and I'm almost embarrassed by all the praise we get. People from other labs are practically scrambling to get in here. I have to keep this place firmly under control; if even a single bad apple gets in, it'll be a disaster."

Jiang Zhiyu couldn't help but smile at his spirited appearance.

Qian Weiguo rubbed his hands together, then lowered his voice, "And you know what? These new young researchers, knowing that our nuclear radiation is being covered, are working incredibly hard. You can't stop them; they work day and night. But I still gave them strict orders to protect themselves. Because they have no worries, they're actually making rapid and smooth progress, and their research is particularly accurate."

Jiang Zhiyu nodded after listening. "That's a good thing."

She leaned back in her chair and thought for a moment, "Uncle Qian, since things are developing so well here, could you give the higher-ups a heads-up? Some things we've researched shouldn't be left out in the open. Leave one or two insignificant ones out so they think we're making progress, but not surpassing them. Don't reveal all our cards so they unite against us again."

Qian Weiguo's smile faded, and he nodded solemnly. "Okay, I'll talk to my superiors about that."

He looked at her and sighed, "You should also take good care of your belly. Calling you down for this mission was really putting me under immense pressure. But it's good that you're doing well so far. If anything happened to you, those old men up there would devour me."

"Mr. Qian, you're too kind. I won't disturb your work any longer; I need to get home safely. The people in Kyoto are really worried sick about my return."

"Go ahead, go ahead, I'd be worried sick too. You're pregnant with twins, so everyone has to be extra careful."

...

After leaving the experimental base and reaching a secluded spot, Jiang Zhiyu instantly teleported back to Kyoto.

She had prepared a change of clothes and a pair of flat cloth shoes in her space beforehand. She placed them in a secluded corner in the suburbs, changed her shoes, and walked around outside to dispel the dust and sand before heading towards the courtyard.

Sure enough, as soon as I entered, everyone crowded around me.

Su Wanqing rushed out of the main room, grabbed her arm, and looked her up and down, her eyes practically screaming that she wanted to strip her clothes off and examine her thoroughly.

"Mom, don't worry, look at me, I'm alive and kicking, standing right in front of you! Look at your face, haven't you been sleeping well these past few days because you were worried?"

Su Wanqing reached out and touched her face, then her hand. "Your mother is fine. Why are your hands so cold, and your lips are chapped?"

"Mom, there are some things I can't tell you, but I can truly guarantee my own safety and the children's safety. Look at the state you've become."

Hearing her daughter's words, Su Wanqing felt extremely comforted. "Zhiyu, go sit down and have some water. I'll get you something to eat."

Jiang Zhiyu followed her into the kitchen. While Su Wanqing turned around to get a bowl, she took out some seafood from her spatial storage and placed it on the cutting board. She also poured a cup of spiritual spring water and placed it next to her.

"Mom, could you cook a pot of seafood porridge for the family later?" She pointed to the cup of spiritual spring water, "and add this to it while you're cooking."

Su Wanqing looked at the fresh shrimp and shellfish that still smelled of the sea, then at the glass of clear water, and nodded knowingly.

"Okay, I know you're worried about us. The three of us can drink it here after we finish cooking; we won't bring it over there."

Jiang Zhiyu gave her a thumbs up.

"Alright, you brat, go get some rest. Let me hurry up and cook the porridge. I need to get a good night's sleep after dinner," Su Wanqing muttered as she cleaned the seafood. "I haven't slept for three days because I've been worried."

"Then finish your porridge and go to sleep."

Jiang Zhiyu slowly walked back to the main room, plopped down on a rattan chair, and let out a long sigh.

The two little ones in my belly stayed quietly, probably because they were full, or perhaps because they sensed that their mother was back, without even kicking once.

Song Yanzhou walked in from outside, carrying a bag of steamed buns, clearly having just come from next door. He saw Jiang Zhiyu sitting in the rattan chair, paused for a moment, then walked over and squatted down in front of her, placing his hands on her knees and looking up at her.

"You're back?"

"Um."

Where are the children?

"Don't worry, everything's fine."

Song Yanzhou buried his face in her stomach, closed his eyes, and remained silent for a long time.

Jiang Zhiyu reached out and ruffled his hair. "Don't worry, I'm back now."

"Don't do that again."

"Okay, okay, I'll listen to you from now on."

Song Yanzhou looked up, her eyes a little red. "Every time you say 'okay, okay,' I've never seen you actually listen."

Jiang Zhiyu chuckled. "Comrade Song Yanzhou, you've learned to talk back?"

"This isn't talking back; it's stating the facts."

"Alright, alright, go wash your hands now, we'll have porridge in a bit."
