Less than half a month after they managed to steal a moment of leisure from their busy schedule, Zhuge Yunhe dragged Jiang Zhiyu out from under the grape trellis.

"Let's go to the secret meeting, we'll go together."

When Jiang Zhiyu arrived at the conference room, Elder Gao and Elder Li were already seated inside. Several documents were on the table, and the water in the teacups was still steaming, but the atmosphere was clearly off.

"Comrade Jiang, come and sit down." Old Gao beckoned to her, his expression a bit more somber than usual. "Some things have happened in the past two weeks, and since you've had some rare free time, I didn't pass the news on to you."

Jiang Zhiyu sat down and glanced at the documents on the table.

Old Gao opened one of the copies and pushed it in front of her.

"Two weeks ago, Country M imposed a comprehensive technology blockade on us. The approval and issuance of licenses for high-precision machine tools, electronic displays, radar components, and precision scientific instruments were all halted, and exports to China ceased."

He paused, then turned the page.

"These things, with the foundation you brought back before, can be handled. The key issue is that he's now pressuring his allies to follow suit with controls. He's tightened restrictions on dual-use high technologies to our country again, and many industrial equipment and special steel processing equipment that were originally intended to be sold to us have been put on hold."

Old Li picked up the conversation and sighed.

"Furthermore, they blocked the exchange of technical information and experts. They withdrew the small number of American technical advisors in China and cut off mutual visits between Chinese and American researchers. Nuclear exploration technology reports were no longer being transmitted to us."

He pushed another document over as well.

"What remains is the trade aspect. Fortunately, the scale isn't particularly large, so it won't cause a collapse in people's livelihoods. But it's still very troublesome."

Old Gao slammed his hand on the table, causing the teacup lid to bounce.

"Furthermore, they harass our ships on the high seas, increase the frequency of carrier strike group patrols in the Western Pacific, and frequently send reconnaissance aircraft to our coastal waters. This pressure is a show of force against us! They want to isolate and criticize our country!"

Jiang Zhiyu frowned deeply.

She knew very well what had triggered these events: "It seems that these were all measures taken by the US after the previous assassination attempt failed."

Zhuge Yunhe, sitting beside him, also nodded.

"They're trying to pressure us like this. And this is just the first step; more methods will likely follow."

"Comrade Jiang," Old Gao looked at her, "do you have any ideas on how to deal with this?"

Jiang Zhiyu shook her head and remained silent for a few seconds.

Ultimately, the problem lies in our weak foundation. Others can easily seize control of our vital resources.

Her voice wasn't loud, but every word was firm and clear: "The only solution I can think of is to have the company in Hong Kong and my uncle in the US secretly buy these things from a third party, and then I'll ship them back to you."

She paused for a moment, realizing that she couldn't keep going on and on; one must be strong to succeed.

"But these are not long-term solutions. There are a few other methods you can consider, though they may not be entirely accurate. First, import equipment piecemeal through informal foreign trade channels. Second, accelerate the dismantling and reverse engineering of equipment, and quickly replicate what I brought back earlier. Third, have our subordinates delve into our existing industrial foundation and tackle key problems independently. Finally, exchange industrial materials with countries that do not fully comply with US directives."

"But we still lack research personnel," sighed Old Gao, leaning back in his chair. "Talent is urgently needed. We've recently been discussing the resumption of the college entrance examination; the shortage of talent is pressing and cannot be delayed."

Jiang Zhiyu nodded: "What you're doing now is the right thing to do."

Old Li slowly began to speak, changing the subject.

"Economically, we want to establish a foreign trade base. Currently, illegal immigration to Hong Kong is a major headache in Bao'an County. There's a huge gap in living standards between the two sides, separated only by a river, and the locals all want to move there. So we want to develop it—the local authorities there have already submitted a report and want to do it themselves."

Jiang Zhiyu's eyes lit up.

The prelude to reform and opening up.

"Then let them do it," she said. "These are indeed good things; let's start by changing things from the inside out."

"Yes." Old Li nodded. "No matter how the external environment changes, we must first stand up ourselves."

"What important equipment do you need recently?" Jiang Zhiyu pulled a pen from her pocket. "Could you give me a list? It'll be easier for me to purchase and bring it back for you while I'm abroad."

Just as Mr. Gao was about to speak, there was a knock on the conference room door.

"Come in."

A communications soldier with a straight posture pushed open the door and entered, holding a manila envelope in his hand.

"Reporting to the commander, there is urgent business."

Old Gao took the envelope, opened it, glanced at it, and his expression changed slightly.

He handed the secret letter to Jiang Zhiyu, his eyes carrying a meaningful look.

Jiang Zhiyu took it and glanced at it.

"Country M deliberately damaged a batch of equipment in international waters near our territory—nuclear radiation equipment, reconnaissance debris, ship scrap, military parts, radar components…"

After reading it, she couldn't help but curl the corners of her mouth slightly.

"Host," Seventeen laughed in his mind, "I saw it! It's like a godsend! These people are hilarious!"

"What's wrong?" Zhuge Yunhe asked from the side.

Jiang Zhiyu raised her head, her expression a mixture of helplessness and amusement.

"They don't think that just because they dumped these things on the high seas, I can't do anything about it!"

Seventeen laughed heartily: "They really think you absorbed nuclear radiation! They're trying to drag you down with their waste! Haha!"

There was a two-second silence in the conference room.

Then Zhuge Yunhe was the first to speak.

"So their intelligence might be that you'll become weak, or even die, after absorbing nuclear radiation?"

His brows furrowed, and his fingers tapped unconsciously on the table.

"They want to use these things to irradiate our coastal waters, forcing you to deal with it. Once your body reaches its limit, they've achieved their goal."

Jiang Zhiyu nodded, her expression calm.

"That's roughly the idea."

Old Gao took the document. He hadn't looked at it carefully before, but now he flipped through it again and found himself increasingly amused.

"Ha, isn't this exactly what we need?"

He slammed the document on the table and pointed to the list on it.

"High-precision radar components, nuclear radiation detection equipment, special military-grade parts, core components of electronic displays... these are all things on their blockade list."

Old Li also came over for a look, and the solemnity on his face slowly dissipated.

"So their plan is—they blockade us, then dump the polluted stuff into the sea. We'll inevitably retrieve it for research, and then you'll purify it. On one hand, they'll wear you down, and on the other hand, they'll prevent us from conducting any research."

"The idea is good." Jiang Zhiyu leaned back in her chair, a slight smile playing on her lips. "Unfortunately, they miscalculated one thing."

"What is it?"

"They thought absorbing radiation would kill me."

The meeting room fell silent for a moment.

Old Gao read the document again, put it down, picked up his teacup, took a sip, and his expression changed from solemn to something indescribably meaningful.

"Then let's fish it out."

He slammed the teacup down on the table, his tone as decisive as if he were making a decision.

"Why would I refuse equipment that's been delivered to my door?"

"The more the better," Jiang Zhiyu added.

Zhuge Yunhe glanced at her, a hint of worry in his eyes, but ultimately said nothing. Having spent so much time with Jiang Zhiyu, he knew that when she said "the more the better," it usually meant she had something in mind.

"Then it's settled," Old Gao stood up, put the documents away, and said, "I'll have someone compile a detailed list and the locations of the sea areas where the release will take place, and send it to you as soon as possible."

Old Li also stood up and patted Jiang Zhiyu on the shoulder.

"Please be careful. Although you'll be handling these things, we'll provide support from the outside."

Jiang Zhiyu nodded: "Don't worry."

As the group walked out, Old Gao suddenly stopped, turned around, and said something.

"Just watch, this is only the first time the US has intervened. Its underlings, seeing their big brother personally step in, won't sit idly by either."

"Then let them all come." Jiang Zhiyu's voice wasn't loud, but there was a reassuring certainty in her tone. "Take them in one if they come, take them in two if they come."

After leaving the conference room, Zhuge Yunhe walked beside her and remained silent for a long while.

"You know what you're doing?"

"have."

"Won't there be any problems?"

"No." Jiang Zhiyu glanced at him sideways. "Old Zhuge, when have you ever seen me fight a battle I wasn't confident of winning?"

Zhuge Yunhe snorted but didn't reply.

But his furrowed brow did relax a bit.

"Host," Seventeen thought to himself, already overjoyed, "someone's delivering poison to your doorstep! You can level up and collect good stuff at the same time—a win-win situation!"

"I know," Jiang Zhiyu replied in her mind.

She looked up at the sky.

Country M thought they had set a trap for her.

Little did they know, the pit was full of gold.
