Chapter 265 Locke Manor
Two days later, he actually found out about Jason.
Jiang Zhiyu was sitting in the garden of the manor flipping through an English magazine when Jason's motorcycle roared in and came to a stop at the gate with a drift.
"Little cousin, you've got a chance."
Jiang Zhiyu put down the magazine.
"explain."
Jason walked over and plopped down, then picked up the water bottle on the table and poured half a glass of it down.
"I've had the Hansenlock family thoroughly investigated over the past two days. They're rich, powerful, and have businesses spanning several continents. To be honest, outsiders really can't find anything wrong with them."
"But?" Jiang Zhiyu closed the magazine.
"But," Jason put down his cup and lowered his voice, "the biggest headache for this family right now is their little granddaughter."
"What's wrong with my granddaughter?"
"This little girl is the old man's darling, he treats her like a precious gem, the whole family spoils her like a treasure." Jason shrugged. "But she has a strange illness. After she turned two, she hardly ate anything, and was always pale and thin. We've had all sorts of tests done, but they found nothing wrong, she just won't eat."
How old are you now?
"Four years old." Jason shook his head. "About the size of a two-year-old, skinny and small."
Before Jiang Zhiyu could reply, Seventeen was already popping into her head.
"Host, host, host!"
"Don't worry," she thought to herself.
"Isn't this like a windfall?" Seventeen's wings flapped in her mind. "Let's go take a look. Maybe we can really cure it. Then, could that huge meteorite be ours?"
"Not sure," Jiang Zhiyu replied mentally, "but we can go take a look. If it can cure the problem, we can also confirm whether that meteorite is what we want. If it can cure the problem and the item is what we want, then everyone will be happy."
Jiang Zhiyu looked up at Jason.
"Jason, could you please introduce me?"
Jason was somewhat surprised.
"You want to go?"
"You've seen how my grandparents used to look. They gradually recovered thanks to the traditional Chinese medicine and ginseng I brought from China. Just tell them that we have ancient Eastern Chinese medicine here, and they can take a look at the child first. If there's hope, great; if not, that's fine too, we won't force it."
Jason looked at her for a few seconds and nodded.
"Okay, I'll make the call right now."
Sure enough, Jason called back in the afternoon, saying that the lady of the Hansenlock family immediately agreed when she heard that it was Eastern Chinese medicine, and was just waiting for her to come over.
Jiang Zhiyu changed into a simple and neat dress, picked up a small backpack that she had already packed, and got into the car with Jason and Su Wenhao.
The three drove north from San Francisco for more than half an hour before arriving at the Hansenlock family's estate.
Jiang Zhiyu sat in the car, looked around the manor through the window, and clicked her tongue inwardly.
This is the largest estate she has ever seen.
The site is vast, with a gently undulating grassy slope in front, through which a long white stone path runs, flanked by meticulously trimmed evergreen trees. At the end of the path, a pure white villa stands on the hillside, with several stories of white walls, large floor-to-ceiling windows, and even a circular fountain in front of the main entrance.
The car stopped, and a butler in a dark uniform came forward and respectfully ushered the three of them inside.
Instead of leading them into the main building, the butler led them through a long white corridor to the garden inside the manor.
The garden was even more exquisite than I had imagined. A lawn was enclosed by a circle of green plants trimmed into spherical shapes, and a white parasol stood in the center of the lawn. Under the parasol was a wicker rocking chair, and a woman stood beside the chair.
As soon as Jiang Zhiyu entered the garden, her gaze fell on the woman.
She was even momentarily stunned.
Her blonde hair was a shade lighter than that of the average European, cascading over her shoulders in soft curls. Her skin was almost translucent white, her features were striking, and her figure was absolutely stunning—the kind of curvaceous, top-tier supermodel.
But at this moment, she looked haggard, with dark circles under her eyes.
She didn't even notice the guests coming in; she was just looking down at the child in the rocking chair.
Jiang Zhiyu followed her gaze.
A little girl was lying in the rocking chair.
Her golden hair lay softly on her small forehead, and she had large eyes with very light, icy blue irises. Even lying there so sickly, you could still tell what an adorable little face it was.
His face was so pale it was almost transparent, and the bluish veins were faintly visible. Apart from his eyes, there was almost nothing else on his face.
The butler stepped forward and introduced the situation in English.
The lady then came to her senses, and when she looked up and saw Jiang Zhiyu, her eyes lit up almost instantly.
"Is it you? You're the Miss Dongfang who can cure illnesses?"
She practically lunged at Jiang Zhiyu and grabbed her hand.
"Do you really know that kind of magical Eastern witchcraft?"
Jiang Zhiyu was stunned for a moment, but looking at those eyes that were almost about to cry, she still patiently explained.
"Madam, it's not witchcraft." She slowed her speech. "We call it Traditional Chinese Medicine, an ancient medical practice in China. It's different from Western medicine. Western medicine treats visible diseases, diseases that instruments can detect. Traditional Chinese Medicine looks at a person's Qi and blood, the intangible."
The lady clearly did not understand.
"Oh God. I don't understand any of this." She gripped Jiang Zhiyu's hand tightly. "But could you please look at my child? Can you cure him?"
"Let me take a look first." Jiang Zhiyu let go of her hand and walked to the rocking chair.
She crouched down and looked at the little girl in the rocking chair.
The spiritual energy spread out silently.
After scanning it once, she had a general idea of what was going on.
It's not a problem with the body's organs. The real problem lies deeper.
The innate soul and vital energy are deficient.
In traditional Chinese medicine terms, it's a deficiency of vital energy; the child wasn't properly cared for at birth, and this energy is gradually depleted. This condition can't be detected by instruments, and Western medicine has no solution.
Jiang Zhiyu breathed a sigh of relief.
This is not difficult.
The spring water is enough.
She stood up and looked back at the lady.
"Madam, I can try."
The lady immediately clasped her hands together in front of her chest.
"Oh God, I'll do anything you ask, as long as you're willing to try."
Jiang Zhiyu smiled and took out a few small cloth bags from her backpack.
Inside were several medicinal herbs she had prepared beforehand, the most important being a sliced ginseng root, and the rest were common tonifying and blood-nourishing ingredients. She told the housekeeper she needed to use the kitchen, and the housekeeper immediately and respectfully led her to the side building.
The kitchen here is as big as a banquet hall, with white marble countertops and various copper and iron pots hanging all over one wall.
Jiang Zhiyu glanced around and frowned.
No clay pot.
So be it.
She chose the smallest silver pot, grabbed a slice of ginseng, added a few qi-tonifying herbs, and slowly started simmering it. As the pot steamed, she turned her back, placed her fingertips against the rim, and silently dripped two drops of spiritual spring water into it.
After the medicine was brewed, she ladled out a small bowl and carried it back to the garden.
The little girl remained lying in the rocking chair, her eyelids half-closed, showing little reaction to her surroundings.
The lady shook her head as soon as she saw the medicine.
"Oh God, she probably won't be able to drink it. She won't even eat normal food, let alone such bitter medicine; I can smell it all over here."
Jiang Zhiyu didn't say anything, but picked up a small spoon, scooped up a spoonful, and brought it to the little girl's mouth.
The little girl's eyelashes fluttered.
Perhaps it was because of the spiritual spring water, but her pale blue eyes opened slightly, and her small lips parted.
One mouthful.
Jiang Zhiyu's heart skipped a beat, but she calmly fed him another spoonful.
Another bite.
The little girl frowned, but instead of spitting it out, she slowly swallowed the spoonful of medicine.
One spoonful, two spoonfuls, three spoonfuls.
The medicine was fed to him spoonful by spoonful.
Jiang Zhiyu finished feeding the last spoonful, put the spoon away, and turned to look at the lady.
The lady stared wide-eyed, covering her mouth with one hand and gripping the butler's arm tightly with the other.
The butler's eyes widened in surprise.
The servants standing around were all stunned.
After a long while, the woman let out a scream that sounded almost like a cry.
"Oh my god! Lisa, you actually drank it!"
Jiang Zhiyu handed the bowl to the maid next to her, stood up, and spoke in a flat tone.
"Let her have this bowl for now. Later you can cook some porridge for her and see if she wants some. Don't force her."
"Very well, very well," the lady said three times in a row, tears welling up in her eyes. "Oh, dear lady, what...what is your request?"
As soon as she finished speaking, the butler next to her stepped forward with great insight and took over the conversation.
"Miss, as far as we know, you are very interested in our family's meteorites?"
Jiang Zhiyu smiled and did not deny it.
The lady immediately responded.
"If you can cure Lisa, I can give you that meteorite."
Jiang Zhiyu bowed slightly.
"Could I take a look at that meteorite now?"
"Of course, of course."
The butler immediately made a gesture.
"This way, please."
Jiang Zhiyu followed the butler through another corridor and into a separate exhibition room. The exhibition room was kept at a constant temperature and humidity, and in the center was a glass case containing a huge meteorite.
Jiang Zhiyu's eyebrows twitched when she saw it from afar.
Its size is indeed astonishing, almost half her height, and its entire body is dark iron gray, with naturally formed pits and melting marks on the surface.
She took a few steps closer.
Space responded to her almost simultaneously.
A very slight tremor.
Unlike the violent shaking caused by the meteorite that absorbed the earth's veins in the desert last time, it only trembled slightly.
If there's a response, that's good.
Jiang Zhiyu was secretly delighted.
Moreover, its size can be completely contained within the space, posing no danger whatsoever.
She remained expressionless, slowly turned around, glanced at the housekeeper a few times as if to show interest, and then turned to the housekeeper.
"It's definitely a good product."
"Then..." The butler's eyes were filled with expectation.
Jiang Zhiyu smiled. "I'll come again tomorrow. I need to check on the child a few more times. The medicine is already working in her body, and when I come tomorrow, I'll prescribe a more suitable formula for her."
The butler nodded vigorously.
"Thank you so much."
Jiang Zhiyu took her leave and went out.
Su Wenhao and Jason were still waiting by the car outside. When she came out, Su Wenhao immediately came over.
"How is it? How is it?"
Jiang Zhiyu opened the car door, got in, and slowly fastened her seatbelt.
"Come again tomorrow."
