Jiang Zhiyu exited the space.

Standing at the edge of the salt lake, the huge pit in front of me was still there, with rings of black burn marks remaining on the pit walls.

She turned and looked once more at this desolate wasteland stretching to the horizon, silently reciting a phrase in her heart.

Hope you recover soon, even if it takes a little longer.

She averted her gaze, turned around, and a flash of light appeared before her eyes. When she opened her eyes again, she was already on the low sand dunes surrounding the research institute.

The camp was not far away, surrounded by barbed wire, with several red flags fluttering in the wind.

Jiang Zhiyu patted the sand off her body and walked towards the camp. Just as she reached the prefabricated houses near the canteen, Qian Weiguo stepped out from inside.

The moment I realized it was her.

Qian Weiguo's breath visibly eased from his chest.

"Comrade Xiao Jiang!"

He strode over, his face crinkling into a wide smile.

"Oh, you're finally back! I knew you were capable, but this Gobi Desert isn't easy to cross! You've been gone for six days! I, Old Qian, was almost scared to death."

Jiang Zhiyu smiled.

"Mr. Qian, I'm so sorry to have worried you! I'm really fine."

Qian Weiguo waved his hand.

"I couldn't hold back any longer on the third day and called my old boss. He told me to leave it to him and that I should know what I was doing. But I've been on edge ever since. The Gobi Desert isn't a place for playing around, so I've been counting down the days."

As he spoke, he looked Jiang Zhiyu up and down.

"Hey, Comrade Jiang, your complexion is even more radiant than before you left! Has the Gobi Desert fattened you up?"

Jiang Zhiyu was amused by him.

"Mr. Qian, please don't flatter me! I've just recovered."

Qian Weiguo shook his head with a chuckle.

"Oh my, I, Old Qian, admire no one but you. If word got out, who would believe your skills?"

He paused.

"It's good that everyone's back safe and sound. Come on, let's go to the mess hall for lunch. You have no idea how happy those soldiers in the camp have been these past two days, with fresh vegetables at every meal."

"The cooks covered the vegetables with damp towels, and even after several days, they were still fresh and juicy! They took them out one by one like precious treasures."

Jiang Zhiyu nodded and followed him toward the cafeteria.

The aroma of food already filled the prefab house. As soon as she entered, several cooks looked up and saw her, and they all put down their spatulas.

They stood ramrod straight, raising their hands in salute.

"Hello, Comrade Xiao Jiang!"

Jiang Zhiyu paused for a moment, then returned the greeting.

"Comrades, you've worked hard."

The older cook grinned.

"Comrade Xiao Jiang, General Manager Qian has been talking about you a lot these past few days, hoping for your safe return."

Jiang Zhiyu smiled and nodded, then sat down at the long table with Qian Weiguo.

The food was served: stir-fried greens, stewed chicken with potatoes, and a large bowl of braised rabbit.

Jiang Zhiyu's eyes flickered slightly; this was already the highest level the camp could offer.

Qian Weiguo put a large piece of rabbit meat on her plate.

"Eat more! Our conditions here are rough, please don't mind."

Jiang Zhiyu put the meat back into his bowl.

"I've had enough to eat! You work much harder than me."

Qian Weiguo did not refuse.

The two buried themselves in their food.

Jiang Zhiyu took a couple of bites and looked up at Qian Weiguo.

"Mr. Qian, is anyone still guarding that warehouse from the other day?"

Qian Weiguo paused for a second.

Then his eyebrows shot up, and his eyes squinted as he laughed.

"Nobody's here. Everything's been taken out and put into the lab. They've already started unpacking and assembling it over there. The warehouse's been empty for the past few days."

Jiang Zhiyu hummed in agreement.

"That's perfect. I have to leave soon; I have other tasks to complete. You can pick them up this afternoon. I'll deliver another batch of vegetables and meat to you."

Qian Weiguo's chopsticks froze in mid-air.

"Ouch."

He was speechless for a moment.

After a long pause, he finally spoke in a muffled voice.

"Comrade Xiao Jiang, I, Old Qian, am not good with words, but we'll remember what you left behind."

Jiang Zhiyu smiled.

"Don't mention it, just consider it a favor since I was passing by."

Qian Weiguo sniffed and finished the rice in his bowl in a few bites.

Raise your hand and wave.

"Just wait for good news! You'll definitely have to come back within two weeks."

"Ha ha!"

Jiang Zhiyu also smiled.

"I trust Mr. Qian to handle things. See you in two weeks."

The two left the cafeteria together.

Jiang Zhiyu turned a corner and walked alone towards the empty warehouse.

The door to the prefab house was ajar, and the inside was still empty, with only a few traces left from when she unloaded the goods a few days ago.

Jiang Zhiyu closed the door behind her.

Seventeen popped into her mind, its little wings flapping happily.

"Host, how much? Enough for the camp to eat for about ten days. Include vegetables, fruits, rabbits, and pheasants."

Jiang Zhiyu paused.

"This batch of rabbits and pheasants are from the same group that died during the spatial upheaval that day. They're all fresh, healthy, and in good condition. Not a single bit will be wasted."

Seventeen understood immediately.

"Understood, host. This batch will be cleaned and sent out to make the best use of its resources."

Before long, dozens of large baskets were piled up in the center of the warehouse, basket after basket of fresh vegetables and hanging bunches of neatly arranged wild game.

As usual, Jiang Zhiyu placed these items in the most conspicuous position and did not leave any notes.

She retreated to the base of the wall, glanced around one last time, and mentally indicated her destination.

Shanghai, at the entrance of the alleyway where my home is located.

Seventeen's voice carried a hint of smugness.

"Host, anchoring complete. You are ready to leave at any time."

Jiang Zhiyu smiled.

"Walk."

A flash of light appeared before my eyes.

When I opened my eyes again.

The familiar bluestone path, the familiar alleyway entrance, the familiar old sycamore tree.

The damp air of Shanghai, carrying a faint scent of osmanthus, rushed up.

Jiang Zhiyu took a deep breath and looked around. The alleyway was quiet, and there wasn't a soul in sight.

Jiang Zhiyu felt a surge of joy.

"Seventeen, you're really reliable now. Every time we land, there's nobody around, which saves me a lot of trouble."

Seventeen was so proud of himself that he put his wings on his head.

"Of course, I am the host's Seventeenth Ruler. If I don't even have this much sense of propriety, how can I act arrogantly in the Ruler Realm?"

Jiang Zhiyu was amused by it.

She straightened her slightly wrinkled clothes and glanced into the alleyway.
