Three days passed uneventfully.

There wasn't much to see at sea, just water everywhere. Occasionally, a few seabirds would circle around the stern for a while before flying away. Jiang Zhiyu spent most of her time holed up in the private cabin, looking through the documents Yan Nantian had given her, and then petting her two tiger cubs.

Occasionally, I would go up to the deck for some fresh air. The sea breeze would blow, and my nose would be filled with the salty and fishy smell mixed with the smell of diesel fuel. It wasn't very comfortable, but it was better than being stuffy in the cabin.

Every mealtime, Yin Panqing would bring the food over on time. Breakfast was passable, with plain porridge and pickled vegetables, and occasionally a boiled egg. Lunch was also acceptable. But dinner was terrible; the stir-fried vegetables were a mushy mess, the rice was undercooked, and the fishy smell was overwhelming.

Jiang Zhiyu would accept the plate every time, and after she left, she would casually throw the plate into a corner of her space, then take out the food she had stored in her space to eat.

The days weren't too hard to get through. With Seventeen helping her scan the Japanese text, she took the opportunity to go over everyday phrases and common vocabulary in her mind several times. Although she didn't speak them, she could already keep up with the basic conversations.

On the morning of the third day, the frequency of the ship's vibrations changed.

The engine noise changed from a steady hum to a deep, rumbling sound as it slowed down, and the ship paused slightly.

We've docked.

Yin Panqing came to knock on her door.

"Miss, we're about to arrive in port. Would you like us to help you with your luggage?"

Jiang Zhiyu shook her head: "No need. I only brought a crossbody bag, I don't have much luggage."

Yin Panqing glanced at the surprisingly light yet spacious backpack at her feet, asked no further questions, and simply said, "Then let's prepare to disembark."

Getting into the port was more complicated than I had imagined.

After the ship docked, there was a long wait. The gangway was lowered, and the crew lined up to disembark, with someone checking their identification documents one by one. Several trucks were parked on the dock, and the loaders were unloading cargo. The shouts and instructions were all in Japanese, which was difficult to understand clearly.

Jiang Zhiyu, wearing that gray work uniform and with her baseball cap pulled low, followed behind Yin Panqing.

Her documents were prepared in advance by Shen Muyan; she was a resident of the port city and a shipboard warehouse manager, with all the necessary paperwork.

Yin Panqing walked ahead, speaking fluent and natural Japanese when negotiating with port staff. She nodded when she should and bowed when she should, her manners impeccable.

The inspector glanced at Jiang Zhiyu's documents, then at her, and asked a couple of questions. Yin Panqing answered for her, and the inspector didn't pursue the matter further, stamped the document, and waved them through.

After leaving the dock, we walked for a while before finally standing on the street outside.

Jiang Zhiyu stood by the roadside, looking at the street scene before her, and remained silent for a few seconds.

Clean.

The streets were paved with smooth asphalt, and although the buildings on both sides were not tall, they were all neat and orderly, with signs hanging in a neat row, and not a single little GG could be seen on the utility poles.

There weren't many cars on the road, but they were all the same model and drove in an orderly fashion; no one honked their horns. Pedestrians were neatly dressed, walked in unison, and hardly spoke while walking.

This isn't the chaotic bustle of a port city; it's a repressive, disciplined sense of order.

Yin Panqing stood beside her without saying a word. The two of them stood there for a while, as if processing a very complicated emotion.

"Is this your first time here too?" Jiang Zhiyu suddenly asked.

Yin Panqing nodded: "The first time."

"How does it feel?"

Yin Panqing was silent for a few seconds, then said in a muffled voice, "To be honest... I feel powerless."

Jiang Zhiyu turned her head and glanced at her.

"The standard of living for ordinary people here is so much better than ours." Yin Panqing's gaze fell on the window of an electronics store across the street, where several televisions and radios were displayed, gleaming. "But all of these... in the end, they were all taken from our side."

She didn't continue, but Jiang Zhiyu understood. A descendant of Northeasterners, standing on the land where her own family members were killed, watching this land become more prosperous than her motherland, that feeling couldn't be summed up by the word "anger."

Jiang Zhiyu patted her on the shoulder.

"Don't worry. Our country will catch up with them soon."

Yin Panqing raised her head and looked at her.

We will surpass them. Just watch.

When Jiang Zhiyu said this, the certainty on her face was genuine.

Yin Panqing looked at that face, which was even younger than her own—appearing to be eighteen or nineteen years old, yet possessing an aura that left people speechless.

She finally understood why Boss Shen had insisted she serve this big shot well. Anyone who could make someone like Shen Muyan obediently call him "big shot" was never simple.

The two hailed a taxi and went to the hotel.

Before disembarking, Shen Muyan had instructed that she and Yin Panqing would be free to move around once they arrived in Japan.

Yin Panqing handled all the check-in procedures.

She speaks fluent Japanese and had no trouble communicating with the front desk. Jiang Zhiyu chose the best hotel in Hengdian. After Yin Panqing finished checking in and returned, Jiang Zhiyu took the room key and glanced at her: "Why is there only one? Where are you staying?"

"I'm looking for a cheap hotel—"

"The money I gave you is for two people. Stop talking nonsense, open them together. Next door is fine, across the street is fine, just go and get it done. I don't need your money."

Yin Panqing blushed and opened her mouth to refuse, but Jiang Zhiyu stopped her with a look.

She had no choice but to go to the front desk and add another room. Fortunately, there were still rooms available, right across from Jiang Zhiyu.

The two followed the waiter up to the seventh floor. Jiang Zhiyu went into her own room, and Yin Panqing went into the room opposite hers. They settled in.

After resting for about two hours, Yin Panqing came to knock on the door.

"Miss, would you like to go out and get something to eat?"

Jiang Zhiyu, having grown tired of flipping through the documents, stood up and said, "Okay."

Yin Panqing had obviously done her homework beforehand, and led Jiang Zhiyu through a maze of twists and turns to a sushi restaurant.

The storefront wasn't large, but there was a queue outside, so business seemed good. The signboard had a few Japanese characters on it, which Jiang Zhiyu identified using the language knowledge she'd just scanned—it was an old, established business.

"This is a fairly well-known sushi restaurant around here," Yin Panqing introduced.

Jiang Zhiyu followed her inside and took a seat.

She glanced around and saw that the restaurant was full of locals, almost all of whom were eating sashimi.

Yin Panqing ordered some sushi for her. There were quite a few varieties, including salmon, tuna, and sweet shrimp, and she put them on a plate and served them.

Jiang Zhiyu picked one up and tasted it.

Well, it wasn't delicious, but it wasn't bad either. The rice was alright, and the sashimi was fresh enough, but the sweet soy sauce flavor didn't quite suit her taste for stronger flavors. After eating two, she felt overwhelmed and her chopsticks slowed down.

Yin Panqing, on the other hand, ate with relish, probably because she had been in Hong Kong for a long time and could accept it.

She looked away, ate two more pieces of the remaining sushi as a token gesture, and put down her chopsticks.

The information provided by Old Zhuge indicated that the Fukuda family's headquarters were located here. It was only a half-hour drive from here, and where she was standing now was not far from that snake's den.

After finishing their meal, the two walked back to the hotel.

Upon reaching the entrance, Jiang Zhiyu said to Yin Panqing, "For the next two days, you can go wherever you want. I have important business to attend to, so it's inconvenient for me to take you."

Yin Panqing was taken aback: "Miss—"

"Don't worry, I can read R." This was the truth; after Seventeen finished scanning, her reading ability was completely up to par.

"I've already paid for your room." Jiang Zhiyu pulled a wad of cash from her pocket—RMB they'd exchanged at the bank that afternoon. "Take this and go for a walk."

Yin Panqing quickly declined, "No need, no need. Boss Shen already gave it to me when I came over, really, no need—"

"Take it if I tell you to. What Boss Shen gave you is Boss Shen's; this is for you."

Looking at her unquestionable gaze, Yin Panqing hesitated for a moment before carefully taking the money.

"Thank you, miss."

"Alright, go and rest."

Yin Panqing turned and walked towards the opposite room, but after taking two steps, she turned back and said, "Miss, please be careful when you go out."

Jiang Zhiyu waved to her and closed the door.

It's time to get things moving.
