Chapter 290 After Sobering Up
When Gu Feng woke up, he felt a headache that felt like it was going to split open.
He gritted his teeth and rubbed his temples for a long time before the dull pain that felt like it was tearing his head apart finally eased a little.
He forced his eyes open and looked out the window—the sun was lazily sinking to the west, its afterglow softly spreading in.
It's already...the evening of the second day?
What exactly happened last night?
He only remembered that after leaving the Peng family, Shi Yurou took him to dinner and then to a disco.
When I came out of the disco, I was already feeling dizzy and disoriented. I think I beat up a few people on the way.
After that, my mind went blank; I couldn't remember anything.
He struggled to sit up, his body heavy and limp, only to be suddenly startled – he was completely naked.
The room in front of him was clearly not the one he and Su Man'er shared; it was Shi Yurou's bedroom.
Looking at the messy bed, my temples started throbbing again.
Could it be...?
The moment this thought crossed Gu Feng's mind, a chill ran down his spine.
Already burdened with a mountain of complicated emotional entanglements, adding this one would only add fuel to the fire, making things even more chaotic.
He shook his head with a wry smile, then slowly stood up to look for his clothes, but after searching around, he couldn't find anything.
She had no choice but to grab the bed sheet, wrap it haphazardly around her body, and push the door open to go out.
As soon as the door opened, a piece of paper pasted on it caught the eye:
"Gu Feng, I've gone to sign the contract and I'm also busy with factory construction. I don't know when I'll be back. The food is warming up in a thermos; eat a little when you wake up. Rou."
This note was clearly left by Shi Yurou.
Gu Feng looked at it over and over again, but still couldn't figure out much.
If there's any difference, it's probably that she called him by his name directly and left her nickname in the signature.
But what does this mean?
He tore off the note, went upstairs, grabbed some clothes, and went to the bathroom to wash up.
As I came out of the bathroom, I heard the sound of a key turning in the door; Shi Yurou had returned.
"You're awake?" Her tone was as calm as ever, showing no sign of anything amiss.
"Mm," Gu Feng replied guiltily.
"Have you eaten?" Shi Yurou asked as she put down what she was holding.
Gu Feng shook his head.
"Then I'll make it for you." Shi Yurou said, and went straight into the kitchen, tied on an apron, and began to prepare dinner.
Gu Feng, his heart pounding, followed her to the kitchen door and softly called out, "Shi..."
He hesitated for a moment before saying it, then changed his words to, "Sister Rou."
Shi Yurou, who had her back to him, paused slightly, then turned around and asked, "Um, what's wrong?"
Gu Feng looked at her, stammering, "Last night..."
"You were drunk last night." Shi Yurou quickly interrupted him, as if afraid he would see something on her face, and hurriedly turned back, pretending to be busy.
"I know I'm drunk. I don't remember what I did last night." Gu Feng stared at her back.
"It's best if I don't remember," Shi Yurou replied in a muffled voice.
Gu Feng's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly asked, "Sister Rou, did I do something foolish last night?"
"Mmm," Shi Yurou responded emphatically.
"What...what did I do?" Gu Feng panicked.
"Don't you know what you've done?" Shi Yurou thought bitterly to herself, but kept her mouth tightly shut, refusing to say a word.
Gu Feng strode into the kitchen, circled around to her, his face pale. "Sister Rou, did I... do something to offend you?"
Shi Yurou really wanted to unleash all her pent-up grievances and embarrassment on him.
But when she looked up and saw his haggard and pale face, the anger in her heart couldn't be vented. She just gritted her teeth and said, against her will, "You...didn't do anything last night."
"Really?" Gu Feng asked, still somewhat skeptical.
"Hmm. You were drunk, and when you came back you were asleep like you were dead." Shi Yurou paused, then added softly, "Oh, and you cried later too."
She still feels lingering fear when she thinks about last night.
This guy must have mistaken her for some other woman; he messed with her for a very, very long time!
Shi Yurou felt like her body was falling apart; she didn't even have the strength to push him away, so she had no choice but to let him hold her.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry... I was so stupid, I deserve to die... I really didn't mean it... I didn't mean it... Please forgive me, please forgive me? I'll never do it again... Don't leave me, don't go..."
Hearing his heartfelt apology, Shi Yurou felt a mix of emotions.
What can we do if we don't forgive?
Could she possibly call the police? Even if she did, and they actually investigated, it probably wouldn't be considered coercion... at most, it would be considered that she half-heartedly agreed.
You can fool others with your own reactions, but you can't fool yourself.
But gradually, the more she listened, the more her brows furrowed, and the more distressed she felt.
"...Don't leave me, okay? I really won't do it again...I promise you, I'll never hurt you again...Don't go...Liangpei, please come back...Please come back...Do you know how much it hurts when you leave..."
Listening to his incoherent murmurs, it was clear that he wasn't calling out to himself.
Shi Yurou finally lost her temper. She had no strength left, but she mustered the last bit of energy and kicked him off the bed.
With a dull thud, the fall must have been quite severe.
Seeing that the person under the bed didn't make a sound, she felt a pang of sympathy and finally, with great effort, dragged him back onto the bed.
Just as she had settled in, the man suddenly buried his face in her arms and burst into tears like a child.
Shi Yurou was completely exasperated, feeling both like crying and laughing at the same time. She silently cursed, "Why are you crying? I'm the one who should be crying." But in the end, she still held him tightly, letting him cry his heart out in her arms.
And so it went until dawn before Gu Feng finally fell into a deep sleep.
Having survived this ordeal, Shi Yurou looked at the faint light of dawn outside the window and made a solemn vow in her heart: From now on, even if it costs her her life, she will never let this man touch a single drop of alcohol again.
"Sister Rou... Sister Rou..." Gu Feng called out several times before pulling Shi Yurou back to her senses. Looking at the man who had tormented her all night, leaving her feeling utterly exhausted, her anger flared up again, but she desperately suppressed it, only asking softly, "What's wrong?"
"Sister Rou, you said... I cried?" Gu Feng was still full of doubts, staring at her and pressing her for an answer. "Then, how did I end up in your room?"
"You're so drunk you're like a rag doll, you can't even stand up straight. I don't have the strength to carry you up to the second floor, so you'll have to sleep in my room," Shi Yurou explained in a gruff voice. At the end, she couldn't help but add a couple of harsh words to vent the frustration she had been holding in all night.
"Then...where are my clothes?" Gu Feng was still unwilling to give up.
"You threw up all over yourself, your clothes are all dirty. I had to take them off for you. I couldn't let you sleep in that disgusting stuff, could I?" Shi Yurou retorted defiantly, but her face flushed slightly as she spoke. "Could it be... that you're upset that I saw your body?"
"No, no," Gu Feng quickly shook his head.
"So what exactly do you want to say?" Shi Yurou asked with a stern face.
"I wanted to say..." Gu Feng still had a lot of questions in his mind, but seeing her face, which looked like she had swallowed gunpowder, he had no choice but to swallow back all the words that were about to come out, and only said softly, "Sister Rou, thank you."
Shi Yurou paused, the tense lines on her face finally relaxing, and her tone softened: "It's okay. Don't drink like that again, it hurts yourself and others."
"I understand." Gu Feng looked at her gratefully and nodded repeatedly.
"Alright, you can go now. There's a lot of smoke in here, and the food will be ready soon." Shi Yurou didn't dare to look him in the eye anymore, afraid that if they continued talking, she would give herself away, so she quickly shooed him out of the kitchen.
