Mr. Shang, please be passionately in love after marriage.
Chapter 8: Mutual Respect is Best
A slightly hoarse voice sounded in her ear, and Cen hope tightened her seatbelt.
I really didn't expect him to come.
She swallowed hard before answering, "I didn't cry."
She grew up with her mother and wasn't familiar with the rest of the Cen family. Everything they did today had zero impact on her, so she didn't care about these insignificant people.
The Maybach sped onto the main road, its headlights reflecting through the glass.
She glanced at the man beside her out of the corner of her eye, thought for a moment, and then asked, "Why are you at the Cen family's?"
The five IV drips I had this morning did have some effect.
Shang Hanzhou no longer had a fever, but his throat was still a little dry and hoarse, making his voice sound even deeper.
"You said it."
Ok?
Cen hope's eyelashes trembled slightly, and after a moment's thought, she finally understood what he meant.
He had overheard the phone call Cen Jiansheng made when he was accompanying him for his IV drip that morning.
She gave a lukewarm "oh," and regardless, she was still quite grateful that he came today; otherwise, she would have been stuck there for quite a while before she could leave.
Although for him, it might just be something he did on a whim.
"Thanks."
In the quiet atmosphere of the carriage, she politely thanked him.
Shang Hanzhou's cold, handsome eyes didn't show much emotion as he casually tapped the leather-textured steering wheel with his long, slender fingers.
He gave a slight twitch of his thin lips.
"Cen hope."
Hearing him suddenly call her name, Cen hope felt inexplicably nervous. She subconsciously sat up straight and turned to ask him, "What's wrong?"
Shang Hanzhou kept his eyes fixed ahead, his facial features clear and smooth, his thin lips slightly parted: "You are Mrs. Shang, my wife, there's no need to be so polite."
Cen hope froze on the spot.
After a while, she fiddled with the seatbelt on her chest again.
"Didn't you say we should treat each other with the utmost respect?"
On the day they got their marriage certificate two years ago, Cen hope was actually very nervous and found Cen Jiansheng's arrangements absurd.
Anyone would be unhappy to find out that their marriage partner has been changed at the last minute.
She arrived at the restaurant right on time that day. When she arrived, Shang Hanzhou was already there, his straight shoulders turned away from her. Even so, she recognized him at a glance.
As he sat down, Shang Hanzhou glanced at his watch, the cold, hard dial reflecting a few glints of light.
He didn't even ask her name, only saying, "The kind of marriage I want is one where we treat each other with respect. If you can agree to that, then let's get our marriage certificate."
So after getting the marriage certificate, he immediately went abroad and stayed for two years.
She wasn't too surprised.
Shang Hanzhou smiled faintly: "Mrs. Shang, mutual respect is not the same as being overly polite and distant."
"..."
Cen Xi remained silent.
I felt that he was very much like the difficult patients I usually encounter.
"Okay."
She hummed in agreement and didn't ask any further questions.
Are you hungry?
He asked again.
Cen hope rubbed her stomach. The food at the Cen family's house wasn't really to her liking. She only ate about half a bowl. She wasn't full, but she wasn't particularly hungry either. She glanced at Shang Hanzhou.
He nodded anyway: "A little."
Shang Hanzhou didn't say anything more, he just turned the steering wheel, turned the car around, and drove away to another place.
The Maybach stopped in front of Lanxinzhai.
A very famous local restaurant in Beijing.
Cen hope hadn't expected him to bring her here for a meal.
Before this, she had never been to Lanxinzhai. She had only seen some food blogger reviews on the app, all of which were positive. She had been thinking of coming and trying it with Lin Xingyou when she had time.
I never expected that my first time here would be with Shang Hanzhou.
It was lunchtime, and Lanxinzhai was packed with people. The lobby manager recognized Shang Hanzhou as soon as he saw him enter.
"General Manager Shang."
The other party greeted them with a big smile. It was the first time they had seen Shang Hanzhou bring a woman to Lanxinzhai for dinner. The manager smiled politely at Cen hope, pondering her identity in his heart.
The two didn't look very close, and there was enough room to fit another table of guests between them.
They should be his subordinates, but they don't seem like it...
"Who is this?"
As the manager led the way, he mustered up the courage to ask another question.
Shang Hanzhou's voice was indifferent. "My wife."
"I see... Oh? Madam?!"
As they were leading people upstairs, the manager lost his footing and nearly fell down the stairs.
This is absolutely shocking.
I've never seen a married couple go out to eat and become so estranged.
The manager, a man of considerable experience, was only surprised for a second before quickly regaining his composure. "Good evening, Mrs. Shang. Is there anything you should avoid eating?"
Cen hope isn't a picky eater, but she's allergic to shrimp.
She said softly, "I don't eat shrimp."
"Okay, noted down. We won't be serving any shrimp-related food."
The upstairs private rooms are located by the window, facing the bustling street with flashing neon lights, offering a unique and beautiful view.
The two had just sat down.
Shang Hanzhou pushed the order tablet in front of her. "Here you go."
Cen hope didn't refuse and ordered two dishes according to her usual tastes. Just as she was about to hand the tablet back to Shang Hanzhou, her phone rang in her bag.
She usually doesn't have the habit of silencing her phone after get off work.
As soon as the phone rang, I answered it immediately.
"Dr. Cen, there has been a major car accident in the east of the city. Some patients have been diverted to our hospital, and we are short-staffed. We urgently need you to come back."
The nurse sounded nervous; she encountered this kind of thing many times before. Cen Xi immediately stood up. "Okay, I'll be right there."
After hanging up the phone, she bit her lip and looked at Shang Hanzhou with an apologetic gaze.
"Sorry, the hospital has to work overtime, I have to go there now. Let's eat together next time."
Without waiting for his reply, she turned and ran out of the private room downstairs.
"Mr. Shang, what's wrong with Madam?"
The manager was waiting at the door. Seeing Cen hope's retreating figure, he poked his head in and asked a question.
Shang Hanzhou's thin lips curled slightly as he stood up and walked out, saying only, "Prepare the food first."
They ran all the way to the outside of the restaurant.
Cen hope didn't drive over. It was lunchtime, and there were many cars and people around, making it difficult to hail a taxi. She tried four or five different ride-hailing apps, but they were all still busy.
A warm sensation suddenly came from my wrist.
The man's tall figure stood beside her, casting a gray shadow before her eyes, his large hand firmly gripping her slender wrist.
He said slowly in a deep voice, "No rush, I'll take you."
