Liu Yidao rushed over and punched him twice in the nose with all his might.
Yang Zhixin fainted.
"Hurry up and go home." Song Xianglan tugged at her collar. "Hurry up, don't just stand there. Da Bao, carry Er Bao on your back, my old arms and legs are getting sore from carrying him."
Shen Huijun picked up Youbao and walked ahead.
Erbao had calmed down by now, and his heart was pounding with anxiety.
While he was getting dressed on the beach, Da Bao had already whispered several curses in his ear.
"Are you showing off? Trying to impress people by saying you can dive? Look how frozen Youbao is!"
Da Bao's words were buzzing in Er Bao's mind.
He didn't dare to make a sound and could only obediently lie on Da Bao's back.
We entered the courtyard.
Song Xianglan went straight to the kitchen.
Start the fire.
The water in the pot was bubbling, and the ginger slices and a handful of dried mugwort thrown in emitted a spicy and bitter aroma.
In the bathroom of the main room.
Da Bao has already moved in two large wooden basins.
A charcoal brazier was burning inside the room, sparks crackling and popping.
Song Xianglan carried in two large buckets of boiling hot ginger and mugwort water and mixed them with cold water.
"Go in."
Da Bao pushed Er Bao inside the door, "Hurry up and soak in the water."
Erbao and Youbao each stepped into a wooden basin.
The hot water made them both shiver.
I soaked it for a little while.
Both of them were sweating profusely.
"Brother, my water is a little cold." Youbao huddled in the basin, his chin resting on the edge of the wooden tub, his little red face looking pitiful.
Da Bao brought over a thermos and added some ginger and mugwort water to You Bao's basin.
"Is it hot?" Da Bao asked irritably.
"It's not hot, have some more."
Da Bao poured in another portion and stirred it in the water with his hand.
He turned around and glared at Erbao.
"The water can't be too hot, and you can't soak for too long. If you both get dizzy from soaking, you'll really be done for in there." Da Bao tapped the rim of Er Bao's basin.
Erbao lowered his head.
"Dabao," Shen Huijun's anxious voice came from outside the door, "Is he almost done?"
"Alright."
Da Bao put down the thermos and grabbed two large bath towels draped over the rack.
He threw one of the ropes over Erbao's head and onto his face.
"Wipe it yourself." Da Bao shot him two sharp glances. "Get dressed and get out of here."
Then, he walked to the treasure basin.
He took another bath towel and wrapped Youbao up tightly, covering his head as well, and then picked him up in his arms.
"How dare you? Swimming in the sea in the dead of winter?" Da Bao asked through gritted teeth as he carried You Bao outside.
Youbao poked his head out from under the bath towel, still trying to argue.
"My classmate's dad often goes swimming in the dead of winter. He says it's called winter swimming and it keeps you from getting sick. He also says that all men should winter swim, so my classmate started winter swimming with his dad. He's grown really strong; he's the tallest and strongest one in our class."
Youbao was so envious.
The voice just fell.
Achoo. Achoo. Achoo.
Youbao sneezed three loud sneezes in a row, so loud that Dabao's arm went numb.
Da Bao used his butt to push the door open.
Shen Huijun quickly reached out and took Youbao from him.
"Winter swimming? I think you're asking for trouble." Shen Huijun carried Youbao upstairs, scolding him all the way, "If you dare to jump into the sea again, I'll break your legs."
"Do you think you won't be punished today?"
Erbao dried himself off, changed into clean cotton clothes and came out.
He felt his head was a little heavy.
Song Xianglan came out of the kitchen carrying a large bowl of freshly brewed brown sugar ginger tea, and just then she saw Erbao standing there.
"What are you looking at? Go lie down on the bed right now." Song Xianglan glared at him.
She turned to Da Bao and called out, "Go warm up your brother's bed. There's a bottle of saline solution I filled in the kitchen; wrap it in a towel and put it in there."
Erbao sniffed.
"Grandma, my head feels heavy," Erbao said weakly.
Song Xianglan put the bowl on the table, walked over and reached out to pat Erbao's forehead.
"Come on, let's go to my room and lie down." Song Xianglan supported Erbao's arm.
We arrived at the room.
Da Bao has already made the bed.
Erbao crawled into bed.
Song Xianglan took two bottles filled with boiling hot water and salt water, wrapped them with thick towels, and stuffed them directly under Erbao's feet.
"Drink the ginger tea." Song Xianglan picked up the bowl and held it to Erbao's lips.
The spicy ginger tea flowed down Erbao's throat and into his stomach, and a little color returned to Erbao's face.
He lay on the pillow, his eyes looking pitifully at Song Xianglan.
"Grandma," Erbao called softly.
"What are you doing?" Song Xianglan took the empty bowl away.
"Will you scold me?" Erbao's eyes reddened.
Seeing his cautious demeanor, Song Xianglan's heart softened.
I won't scold you.
Song Xianglan shook her head and tucked the blanket around him.
Erbao just breathed a sigh of relief.
"Once you're better, I'll give you a good beating." Song Xianglan said sternly.
Erbao pouted.
"It's my fault." Erbao sniffed. "If you're going to hit me, don't hit Youbao. He's so small."
Song Xianglan snorted coldly.
"It's okay. You'll share the good times and the bad. If you get beaten up, you'll take it together. Nobody can escape."
The sound of light footsteps could be heard in the hallway.
Fu Bao led Er Ying and San Ying, running upstairs and downstairs.
The three little girls had just gone upstairs to check on Youbao, and then ran to Song Xianglan's room to see Erbao.
Fu Bao held her chubby cheeks in her hands and stood by the bed for a long time.
"Boys are just naughty." Fu Bao shook his head, looking like a little adult. "It would be so much better if he played jump rope with us in the yard, but he insisted on going swimming in the sea. So silly."
"Second brother, you're incredibly stupid. My brother is incredibly stupid too."
The three heroes stood to the side, their faces filled with admiration.
"Aunt Fu, they went to catch bad guys," San Ying retorted. "They're really amazing."
Fu Bao rolled her eyes in disdain.
"What's so great about them?" Fu Bao pouted. "Two little ones catching bad guys. If Grandpa Liu hadn't rushed over, they wouldn't be back today, and they would never see Grandma again."
"Mom and Grandma will be heartbroken."
Fu Bao turned her head and, like a little adult, gave him instructions:
"Don't follow their example. Children shouldn't try to catch bad guys. They should learn to ask adults to catch bad guys."
San Ying nodded quickly.
After washing the dishes, Song Xianglan came over and heard Fu Bao's words. She went over and hugged Fu Bao.
"Our Fu Bao is the smartest." Song Xianglan stroked her hair. "If you encounter bad people, you should run to find an adult immediately."
Fu Bao looked up at Song Xianglan.
"Grandma, I wish I had Daddy's skills!" Fu Bao waved her little hand. "My daddy knows martial arts. I've seen him practice. He could definitely beat the bad guys."
"Yes." Song Xianglan smiled. "Your father is very skilled in martial arts."
Fu Bao turned her head and looked at Er Bao on the bed.
"My brother is so silly," Fu Bao muttered softly. "When he grows up, he has to be like his father."
At this point, Fu Bao lowered her head.
"Grandma, I just made a wish." Fu Bao's voice became softer.
"I pray to God to protect my brother from getting sick."
Hearing this, Song Xianglan felt extremely distressed.
He kissed Fu Bao's cheek repeatedly, saying, "My Fu Bao is so good."
That evening.
Erbao and Youbao eventually developed fevers.
In the middle of the night, a flurry of activity began in both rooms.
Their cheeks were flushed red from the fever.
Song Xianglan and Shen Huijun were busy almost all night.
Song Xianglan carried a basin of warm water and wiped Erbao's forehead and neck repeatedly.
I also gave him a gua sha treatment.
In the next room, Shen Huijun stood guard by Youbao's bedside, constantly wiping his palms and soles with alcohol.
Da Bao wasn't asleep either, shuttling between the two rooms to change water and hand out towels.
Until dawn.
The wind outside the window gradually stopped.
Song Xianglan touched Erbao's forehead, which was covered in a thin layer of sweat.
The temperature has finally come down.
In the room on the second floor, Shen Huijun also sighed with relief.
She simply hugged Youbao and lay down.
