"uncle"

After returning from the Xia family, Pei Shizhou drove to the airport to pick up Zhou Wenbin. He had originally arranged for Gu Yunting to pick him up instead.

Instead of accompanying Xia Yichu, Zhou Wenbin decided to pick up his uncle himself. After waiting for almost an hour, Zhou Wenbin and a man came out, chatting and laughing.

"Uncle, I'm here."

Zhou Wenbin walked over with a smile and introduced him to Pei Shizhou, "Azhou, this is my friend, his name is Mark, and his mother is Chinese."

Mark extended his hand warmly and said in fluent Chinese, "Hello, nice to meet you."

Pei Shizhou politely shook his hand and smiled in response, "Hello, welcome to China."

Mark looked around, his eyes full of curiosity. "This place is very different from my hometown. Everything is new."

Zhou Wenbin added from the side, "Mark is particularly interested in Chinese culture, and he came here this time to experience it in depth."

Pei Shizhou nodded, "That's perfect, I can show you around properly in the coming days."

"Then I'll have to trouble you, Azhou. Your uncle said you have a bullet lodged close to a nerve in your hand. Should we go to the hospital to check on things?"

Mark enjoys challenging himself with difficult tasks, especially complex surgeries. So when Wenbin told him about his nephew's situation and invited him to China, he immediately agreed.

"Mark, no rush, let's go home for dinner first. My parents cooked a lot of dishes."

They became friends while abroad because Mark loved Chinese food.

Fortunately, Zhou Wenbin knew how to cook, but his skills were far inferior to his father's. However, Mark always praised his cooking highly.

"Okay, let's go back quickly."

Sure enough, Mark was thrilled at the mention of food. His mother was Chinese and used to cook Chinese food for him. Sadly, she passed away from illness when he was twelve. His father remarried, and he didn't have a good relationship with his family.

When he was a child, his father forbade him to come to China to find his mother's relatives, so he finally came to China a few years ago. However, he was unable to find his mother's relatives because he only knew his mother's name.

He knew nothing about her relatives, nor did he know if his mother had any relatives at all. When he was a child, his mother had never mentioned any relatives in China, and she wouldn't tell him when he asked.

"Mark, please get in the car."

Pei Shizhou opened the car door, let Mark get in, and put his luggage in the trunk.

"OK, thanks."

Throughout the journey, Mark kept asking all sorts of questions about China, and Pei Shizhou patiently answered them.

They first went to a hotel near the Zhou family's house to settle their luggage. Mark looked at the antique decorations in the hotel and excitedly took out his camera to take pictures, muttering that he wanted to share these unique sights with his friends back home.

Zhou Wenbin wanted Mark to stay at his house, but Mark refused, so he brought him to the hotel instead. Zhou Wenbin also booked a room for himself, next to Mark's. Afterwards, Pei Shizhou took them home.

"Mark, we're here. This is my home." Zhou Wenbin gestured for him to get out of the car and come inside.

As soon as Mark got out of the car, he was attracted by the Zhou family's cozy courtyard, which was filled with various flowers and plants.

"it's beautiful"

"My mom likes to grow flowers and plants when she has free time, and my dad likes to grow vegetables."

As they entered the house, the rich aroma of food wafted through the air. Zhou Wenbin's parents warmly greeted them.

"Wenbin, you're finally back! This must be Mark. Come in and have a seat."

Mark greeted them politely, "Hello, thank you for the invitation."

Pei Shizhou was the last to walk in, and his face darkened when he saw someone sitting on the sofa. Zhou Wenbin also saw Pei Feng, but he didn't take him seriously.

Grandpa Zhou smiled and said, "Don't be shy, we're all family. Come and sit down, and try my cooking."

The table was laden with all sorts of Chinese delicacies, and Mark's eyes widened as he eagerly picked up his chopsticks. He took a bite of the braised pork, and his eyes lit up instantly.

"It's so delicious, the taste is absolutely amazing."

Everyone laughed when they saw his satisfied expression.

"Brother, you're back just in time. I need to talk to you."

At this moment, Pei Feng walked over and said something, and the atmosphere instantly became a little tense.

Pei Shizhou gave him a cold look. "What are you doing here? The Zhou family doesn't welcome you."

"Big brother, Shi Zhou went too far. Just because that girl likes him, he sabotaged her company because he doesn't like her back."

Zhou Wenbin frowned. "Pei Feng, let's talk about these things later. We're hungry and need to eat. You should go back first!"

With Mark around, Zhou Wenbin didn't want to say anything too harsh, since Pei Feng insisted on coming to cause trouble on such a fine day.

Grandpa Zhou also spoke up, "Let's eat first. We can talk about it after we finish eating. Pei Feng, come out here, I have something to say to you."

After speaking, Grandpa Zhou went out first, and Pei Feng followed reluctantly. Mark sensed that the atmosphere was a bit strange, but he didn't say anything.

"Mark, don't be shy, eat up."

After Grandpa Zhou left, Grandma Zhou invited Mark to dinner. Zhou Wenbin told them on the phone that Mark was an excellent surgeon, someone he had gone to great lengths to invite back. He was the expert who would perform surgery on A-Zhou, and they should make sure to take good care of him.

After a while, Grandpa Zhou walked in by himself, and everyone tacitly refrained from asking Pei Feng. Seeing that Mark was interested in the dishes he had made, Grandpa Zhou happily explained to him how to make each dish.

After the meal, Mark took out his camera and took a group photo. He said he wanted to preserve this wonderful moment forever and let his friends back home see the warmth and delicious food of China.

Afterwards, Zhou Wenbin took Mark back to the hotel to rest, as they were both exhausted from the more than ten-hour flight.

"Grandpa and Grandma, what's Pei Feng doing at our house? Is it about the Zhang family?"

"Yes, Ah Zhou, do what you want to do, just ignore him. Next time he comes over, I'll chase him out with a broom. If we didn't have important guests today, I would have kicked him out already."

Grandma Zhou, hands on her hips, said angrily that Pei Feng had never cared about A-Zhou since he was a child, and he still had the nerve to interfere in his grandson's affairs.

"Okay, Grandpa and Grandma, I'm going out for a bit."

Pei Feng has time to go to the Zhou family to disgust his maternal grandparents; it seems his life has been too easy. Pei Shizhou plans to find something for him to do so he won't have time to come to the Zhou family.

"Okay, your uncle said he's going to take you to the hospital to check your hand tomorrow, so please remember that."

Grandma Zhou gave him a final reminder, and Pei Shizhou nodded and left.

Pei Shizhou

Pei Shizhou had just driven his car to the intersection when Pei Feng stopped him. It seemed he hadn't left and had been waiting at the intersection. Pei Shizhou pulled over and got out.

"Pei Shizhou, why did you frame the Zhang family? Just because Zhang Shanshan went to Pengcheng to find Xia Yichu, are you going to ruin the Zhang family forever?"

The Zhang family threatened Pei Feng, demanding that he plead with Pei Shizhou for leniency, or they would send Pei Zongna to jail. After returning to Beijing from Pengcheng last time, Zhang Shanshan made Pei Zongna resign and become the financial director of their family's company.

Pei Zongna embezzled company funds shortly after starting work to invest in a business for her boyfriend. Her boyfriend promised to double the income within two months, but the Zhang family discovered this not long after.
