A whirlwind marriage: The real heiress marries a warlord.

Chapter 083 Absence Makes the Heart Blossom

The bathroom is very steamy.

Qin Yan had finished washing up. She turned off the tap and prepared to leave.

Cheng Tianxun walked over and turned on the tap again. Warm water quickly soaked his chest, giving his tanned skin a glossy sheen.

He walked over and kissed Qin Yan's lips.

"Do you want to be in the bathroom?" Qin Yan asked him.

Cheng Tianxun's voice was slightly hoarse: "You disagree?"

"I agree," Qin Yan replied, "but it'd be more comfortable in bed, don't you think?"

Cheng Tianxun hugged her tightly and kissed her collarbone.

The abundant moisture made Qin Yan's mind seem a little heavy.

Fortunately, he was strong and didn't mind being used by her.

Later, she couldn't hold on any longer; her waist and legs were too weak. It was only thanks to Cheng Tianxun's amazing arm strength that she was able to keep her steady.

"Qin Yan," he called to her.

Qin Yan responded.

"Qin Yan, Qin Yan."

He pressed her forcefully against the wall; her back felt a little cold, and his kisses overwhelmed her once more.

He called her name.

Qin Yan returned his kiss: "I know you remember my name, you don't need to call me that anymore, I believe you."

Cheng Tianxun paused slightly.

He gave a wry smile, then, as if with a sudden burst of strength, bit her shoulder hard. It hurt quite a bit, but Qin Yan didn't make a sound.

Afterwards, the two sat in front of the fireplace in the guest room, mainly because Qin Yan needed to dry her hair; the room was cool in March, and her thin pajamas couldn't cover her up, so Cheng Tianxun took a scarf and draped it over her shoulders.

His fingers hooked around her collar, revealing the teeth mark on her shoulder.

Qin Yan glanced at it too, and said generously, "It doesn't hurt."

"Then I'll focus on the key points next time."

Qin Yan: "Not feeling pain is just to comfort you, not to encourage you."

Cheng Tianxun looked at her quietly.

Qin Yan didn't quite understand his gaze. Just like she didn't understand why she had been bitten.

But she knew he had something to say.

"What's wrong?"

"After being married for so long, do you think I've forgotten your name again?" he asked.

Qin Yan: "Did you write it on a note this time?"

Cheng Tianxun: "..."

He felt frustrated and bored, so he got up to go find some wine to drink.

He had barely moved when Qin Yan grabbed his hand.

She slowly took off her scarf and then unbuttoned her pajamas.

With snow-white skin and jet-black eyes, she looked at him calmly: "Cheng Tianxun, the scar on my right arm is almost gone. Do you want to see it?"

She could have simply rolled up her sleeves to show him.

But she sat there, took off her top, her dark hair cascading down her back, her skin glowing in the light and fire, as lustrous as her black hair.

She knew Cheng Tianxun was unhappy, but she didn't know why he was displeased.

So try to keep him here and coax him.

Cheng Tianxun understood this, and immediately knelt down in front of her, cupped her face and kissed her, then pressed her down onto the carpet in front of the fireplace.

He traced her eyebrows and eyes with his fingers: "Qin Yan, just now in your office, I wanted to kiss you."

"I know," she said.

"I not only want to kiss you, I also want to sleep with you," he said.

That's a bit much.

But Qin Yan simply curled the corners of his lips slightly: "You can."

Cheng Tianxun was slightly taken aback.

"I agree," Qin Yan added, "but I'm afraid Miss Ling will be unhappy. She'll skin you alive. The office is a sacred place for her; if you dare to act recklessly, you'll have completely offended her."

"I'm afraid of her?"

Qin Yan: "You should still be careful; Miss Ling is no pushover."

While speaking, he buried his face in her hair and gently kissed her earlobe; Qin Yan's legs hooked around him again.

This time, he said a lot of sarcastic things to Qin Yan.

He was a little reserved in the bathroom just now, and Qin Yan felt the same way.

Neither of us really enjoyed it.

This is when I truly feel exhilarated.

Afterwards, Qin Yan nestled in his arms and said, "Cheng Tianxun, I was just teasing you."

Cheng Tianxun: "Which sentence?"

A sense of anticipation rose in my heart.

"I said I agreed to let you sleep with me in my office," Qin Yan said. "That was just a joke. I didn't agree; the newspaper office is sacred to me too."

Cheng Tianxun was a little disappointed.

It seems that what he was expecting was not for her to explain that sentence.

He didn't take that seriously.

However, he was satisfied with his clumsy attempt at seduction and could forget all the unpleasantness.

He kissed her lips: "I know my limits. I didn't do anything inappropriate, did I?"

"You are an excellent husband," Qin Yan said objectively.

She spoke expressionlessly, yet her tone was so sincere.

Cheng Tianxun could almost hear the deep affection in his voice.

He seemed to be stuck in a quagmire, doing all the things he used to hate.

"Give me a few more compliments, I'd love to hear them," Cheng Tianxun said.

Qin Yan asked, puzzled, "Why do you like hearing such polite compliments?"

"Never mind, I like listening to it anyway," he said.

Qin Yan: "..."

The two chatted about trivial things, and Qin Yan slowly fell asleep.

Cheng Tianxun carried her to the bathroom for a quick wash, which she knew, but she was too lazy to move; then they returned to the bed in the master bedroom, where she opened her eyes and glanced at him.

He kissed her eyes: "Go to sleep. I'm going to a meeting."

He then asked her, "What would you like to eat? Tell the kitchen to prepare it for you."

Qin Yan mumbled "whatever" and went to sleep.

The afternoon sun was shining brightly. The curtains in the bedroom were tightly closed, and the bed curtains were thick. She drifted into a deep sleep.

When she woke up, she quickly washed up and found herself starving.

I didn't eat lunch.

It was already six o'clock in the afternoon, and the sun was about to set.

Qin Yan slipped on her slippers and went downstairs to find something to eat.

The restaurant has a variety of pastries and several small cakes.

The maid told her, "Dinner is ready in the kitchen. When would you like to eat? The young marshal wants you to eat first. He ate wontons this afternoon, and his meeting won't end until later."

He then asked, "Young Marshal, you've brought back some snacks. Would you like to have some first?"

Qin Yan chose a small cake: "I'll have something sweet first."

Because of this small cake, she was full after only two bites of dinner.

She took a short walk, went back to her room to read today's evening paper, and also did some reading.

Cheng Tianxun's meeting didn't end until after 9 p.m.

He greeted Qin Yan and went downstairs for a late-night snack.

It was already ten o'clock when he went upstairs.

"You didn't stay in Yicheng this time?" Qin Yan asked.

Cheng Tianxun got into bed, pulled a pillow over himself, and leaned against her, saying, "You didn't want to ask that, did you? You wanted to ask me why I came back."

"You dealt with Du Rongfei?"

Cheng Tianxun: "I knew you were perceptive. I killed him."

Qin Yan pondered, "What did Mom say?"

"This person is more useful dead than alive. He plotted to kidnap you, and now those plots have become his own trap."

"As long as he never shows up, any crime can be pinned on him. Especially when the Northern government is pressuring for peace talks," Cheng Tianxun said.

Qin Yan nodded.

She added, "I suspect the warlord also agrees to quietly get rid of him and make him take the blame. The donations he raised from overseas Chinese alone are a perfect gimmick."

Cheng Tianxun: "Besides being able to take the blame, it's also better for the economy and people's livelihoods. Du Rongfei has used too much power over the years to monopolize many businesses. Once he 'disappears,' other businesses can gradually recover, and the economy will become more active."
