A whirlwind marriage: The real heiress marries a warlord.

Chapter 003 The Young Marshal's Generosity

Qin Yan runs a newspaper.

As expected of a writer, she speaks clearly and logically.

On the way back to the villa, she briefly told Cheng Tianxun about her relationship with the Lan family.

"I am Lan Changming's daughter. When I was born, my mother was in poor health, so I lived with my grandmother in Yicheng and was cared for by a wet nurse. My parents and brothers lived in Nancheng."

When I was three years old, I couldn't speak very well, so my grandmother gave me the nickname "Qinyan" (meaning "diligent and talkative"). There was a little girl in the Ye family next door, a few months older than me. She was eloquent, clever, and mischievous, and my grandmother liked her very much.

Mrs. Ye was very good at handling things, and suggested exchanging children to raise as pets.

Mrs. Ye also liked me very much and took me to visit relatives in the south, which my grandmother agreed to. Later, Yicheng was thrown into turmoil, and my family, worried about my grandmother, brought her back to the south. That's how we parted ways.

When I was seven years old, I saw my grandmother again. She told the Ye family that she couldn't bear to part with their daughter, so why didn't the two families treat her as two children, taking turns raising her, and then both families would provide dowries when she got married?

Cheng Tianxun slowly turned his face to look at her as she spoke these words indifferently.

"I've been called Ye Zhishu since I was seven; the other girl is called Lan Muhe," Qin Yan continued. "The Ye family has undergone tremendous changes; Mr. Ye lost two wives."

I stole two large yellow croakers from his study when I was fourteen and ran away. Since then, I've relied on friends. If my chief editor hadn't gotten into trouble and almost been killed by the police, I wouldn't have troubled the Lan family.

Cheng Tianxun listened silently, then after a while asked in conclusion, "Neither of them want you anymore?"

Those words were a bit hurtful.

Qin Yan remained calm: "Yes."

"Chief of Staff Lan even arranged a marriage for you, not bad." Cheng Tianxun said without any restraint, not caring about anyone's feelings at all.

Qin Yan: "He gave me a check for 20,000 silver dollars as dowry. That's more than enough. But he told me not to go to the Lan family, because he was afraid his daughter wouldn't be able to handle it."

Cheng Tianxun: "Get two big yellow croakers from your previous father and 20,000 silver dollars from this father."

A single large yellow croaker costs approximately ten thousand silver dollars.

fair enough.

Qin Yan nodded: "A life worth forty thousand silver dollars is very expensive."

Cheng Tianxun didn't care much: "That's enough. So many people are starving to death in this world."

Qin Yan: "That's what I think too."

The car returned to the villa. Qin Yan was about to instruct the maid to prepare a late-night snack when Cheng Tianxun picked her up in his arms.

She suddenly leaped into the air and wrapped her arms around his neck.

The living room was brightly lit by an elaborate crystal chandelier, the light shining into his eyes, making his gaze deep and intense. His thin lips were slightly pursed, and the muscles in his arms holding Qin Yan bulged.

Qin Yan: "..."

The man was strong and carried Qin Yan as if she were nothing, striding upstairs.

The Western-style iron bed has four copper pillars and is hung with a milky white openwork curtain, which is beautiful but does not block the light.

The lamplight and moonlight mingled and streamed into the tent. Cheng Tianxun's hand tightened around Qin Yan's waist. His palm was burning hot, like boiling syrup.

"I thought last night that you would look good in a diamond necklace," he said, touching the jewelry box that had been placed under her pillow.

The new necklace is exquisitely crafted.

She was healthy and voluptuous, with snow-white, radiant skin. Her beautiful complexion enhanced the brilliance of the diamonds.

He put it on her.

She was indeed even more beautiful, and a few glints of light appeared in her eyes, brimming with a delicate beauty.

"Thank you," Qin Yan said.

The voice was very soft, as light as the thin frost of early winter, not soft, yet inexplicably captivating.

Cheng Tianxun looked at her, his eyes burning with intense passion, his hard chest heaving slightly as he kissed her.

When their emotions reached their peak, Qin Yan hugged him tightly and bit his shoulder with her teeth.

She seemed to be crying, and mumbled, "It wasn't me."

Cheng Tianxun didn't hear clearly, because at that moment the bed suddenly sank, and he sank down as well.

After a long pause, Qin Yan, slightly out of breath, said in a choked voice, "The bed leg broke again."

Cheng Tianxun: "This is the second broken bed. I'll have someone bring over an old-fashioned canopy bed tomorrow."

A canopy bed is like a small fortress; it won't break easily.

The bedroom was furnished entirely with Western furniture, including a crystal chandelier overhead.

"No, it doesn't match the furniture."

"Then next time, not in bed?" He stroked her collarbone.

Qin Yan: "Okay."

She took a shower, and when she came out after a while, wearing a bathrobe, she saw Cheng Tianxun walking in wearing only trousers, his upper body bare, carrying two bowls of steaming wontons.

"I'm hungry," he said.

Qin Yan pointed to the bell by the bedside: "We can have the maid bring it up."

"I'm too lazy to wait," he replied.

Even servants can slack off. He'll go down and wait himself; that way, he'll get what he wants fastest.

The master bedroom is a suite, and there is also a small living room outside, with a small sofa and a table and chairs.

The couple sat down to eat.

Qin Yan was also hungry, so he ate without saying a word.

"Let's sleep in the guest room tonight," Cheng Tianxun said. "We'll have someone come and change the bed tomorrow morning."

Where do you sleep?

"I'll sleep in the guest room with you," he replied.

Qin Yan said, "Okay."

After silently finishing his wontons, Qin Yan seemed to have something to say.

Cheng Tianxun finished the soup before saying, "Just say what you have to say."

"I bought a small apartment," Qin Yan said.

"How much?"

"Three thousand nine hundred silver dollars," Qin said. "It's on Hongxia Road, a ten-minute walk from the small mansion to my newspaper office."

"The price is good. Land on Hongxia Road alone would sell for two or three thousand dollars. It's not expensive," Cheng Tianxun said.

"Not asking why you bought the house?"

After finishing his meal, Cheng Tianxun took out a cigarette, lit it, and laughed, "You're not my subordinate, so you don't need to report everything to me."

Qin Yan still told him, "I thought you wanted a divorce. Once you brought it up, it wouldn't be good for me to continue living here. Preparing at the last minute is too chaotic; I prefer to be prepared."

He added, "Since it's a misunderstanding, if you mind, I'll ask my secretary to help me sell it again."

"I don't mind, you can keep it." Cheng Tianxun slowly exhaled smoke. "This whole thing started because of me, and I'll pay for the house."

"No need for that, I have money."

"What do modern ladies say? Give a man a chance to be a gentleman," he said.

Qin Yan: "..."

"Oh, by the way, when I bought the necklace, I also bought a bracelet and earrings," Cheng Tianxun added. "Try them on if you like."

Thank you.

The couple slept in the guest room at night.

The bed was rather small, so Cheng Tianxun sat next to Qin Yan. It was still a bit hot in early August, and he was like a furnace, so Qin Yan couldn't sleep.

She remembered many things.

The image of Luo Qisheng at their parting, merging with the one after their reunion, made Qin Yan feel as if time had distorted.

"...Why are you crying?" Cheng Tianxun suddenly touched her eyes.

Qin Yan avoided the question.

She also felt tears welling up in her eyes.

"Did I hurt you just now?" he asked again, pressing his body closer and breathing on the back of her neck.

She's not exactly gentle, but she's not rude or annoying either.

"No, the diamond necklace pillow left a mark on my back, and it hurt a little at the time," Qin Yan said.

Cheng Tianxun knew this was an excuse.

However, it was late, and he was quite tired, so he didn't want to delve into it further. He held her in his arms and gently massaged her back with his fingers.

Qin Yan slowly drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, Cheng Tianxun went to a meeting at the military government as usual; he always got up earlier than Qin Yan.

Qin Yan went downstairs to eat.

He was thinking about things at the newspaper and changing the bed in the master bedroom.

The adjutant handed her a check: "From the young marshal."

Qin Yan recalled the word "gentleman" he had mentioned last night and found it somewhat amusing.

Qin Yan couldn't smile when he saw the amount of 100,000 silver dollars on the check.

Lieutenant Qian explained, "The young marshal said this is your living allowance. It's to cover this year's expenses."

Qin Yan: "..."
