Slow to mature after marriage
Chapter 7 Quiet
Just then, Bo Yan came over from the other side at the corner.
Upon seeing him, Mu Siwan stepped forward and took his arm.
The movements were very smooth, as if they were executing some kind of predetermined program.
Bo Yan glanced down at her and couldn't help but laugh again.
Mu Sigui, who was following behind, paused when she saw this scene.
He looked up and gazed at Bo Yan.
"Brother-in-law."
The tone was very flat, as if he were calling for a piece of raw meat.
Bo Yan looked at the expression on his face that was exactly the same as Mu Siwan's, and clicked his tongue lightly.
Another bot has arrived.
What kind of wealthy family can afford to raise two drones?
-
For the rest of the dinner, Mu Cheng and Xu Ruolin were the ones who kept things going.
Mu Cheng raised his wine glass, addressing Bo as "President Bo" repeatedly, trying to get close to him as much as possible. Xu Ruolin chimed in from the side, occasionally urging everyone to eat, acting every bit the part of a hostess.
Bo Yan's smile had vanished.
When he doesn't give people face, he's too lazy to say much, leaning back in his chair and giving perfunctory replies.
Mu Siwan didn't say a word from beginning to end.
She ate with her head down, occasionally picking up a piece of food with her chopsticks, as if the meal had nothing to do with her.
Mu Sigui sat next to her, even quieter than her.
She barely touched her chopsticks, her eyes lowered, lost in thought.
Meng Wan, on the other hand, was more talkative.
She occasionally chimed in with a playful tone, seemingly oblivious to the subtle atmosphere at the table.
"Dad, drink less, or you'll start nagging me again later."
"Mom, this dish is delicious, you should try some too."
The meal was finished just like that.
-
As soon as she stepped out of the Mu family's gate, Mu Siwan released her grip on Bo Yan's hand.
The movements were swift and clean, like a standard wrap-up after a task is completed.
As the moonlight fell, her face remained expressionless, revealing no emotion whatsoever.
Bo Yan looked down at his empty arm and clicked his tongue softly.
"Mrs. Bo," he said slowly, "isn't it a bit excessive to use something and then throw it away?"
Mu Siwan turned her head to look at him.
Under the moonlight, the man's eyes gleamed slightly, with a lazy smile on his face, making it impossible to tell whether he truly cared or was just joking.
She thought for a moment, then answered seriously, "The mission is complete."
"A mission?" Bo Yan raised an eyebrow.
"Play hard to get," she said. "You've been very cooperative, thank you."
Human-machine interaction has reached this level.
Bo Yan suddenly felt an urge to tease her.
So he nodded, took half a step forward, leaned slightly forward, and looked the woman in the eye.
"So, I kindly helped you complete the task, isn't there any reward, Mrs. Bo?"
Just as Mu Siwan was about to speak, a black sedan stopped in front of them.
The car window rolled down, and Wang Jin's face appeared in the back.
"Mr. Bo, Madam, please get in the car."
Bo Yan glanced at Wang Jin.
That one glance made Wang Jin's heart pound – had he come at the wrong time?
Bo Yan didn't say anything, but reached out to open the car door for Mu Siwan, casually placing his other hand on the roof, displaying a very gentlemanly demeanor.
"Let's get in the car first, it's cold outside."
Mu Siwan bent down to get into the car.
Bo Yan went around to the other side and sat down.
The car door closed, and the car drove into the night.
-
The car was very quiet.
Wang Jin focused intently on driving, his eyes fixed straight ahead, barely daring to breathe.
Bo Yan leaned back in his chair, his eyes closed, looking a little tired.
Mu Siwan sat next to him, watching the streetlights flash by outside the window.
After a while, she suddenly spoke up, continuing the previous topic.
"What reward do you want?"
Bo Yan opened his eyes and turned his head to look at her.
He was just teasing her casually, but he didn't expect her to take it seriously.
This left him unsure how to respond.
"You'll give me anything I want?" he asked.
Mu Siwan looked at him, her eyes flat: "Within a reasonable range."
What constitutes a reasonable range?
"It's not illegal, it doesn't violate public order and good morals, it doesn't involve work secrets, and it won't affect my work tomorrow."
After hearing this, Bo Yan couldn't help but laugh: "You think I'm signing a contract with you?"
"If you need it—" Mu Siwan said, "I can sign it."
Neon lights flashed past the window, a kaleidoscope of colors, fleeting and ephemeral.
The eyes in front of me were excessively clean, like two pools of clear water.
Bo Yan suddenly felt that his attempts to tease her were somewhat inadequate in the face of those eyes.
He looked away and gazed out the window.
"I have no plans to sign a contract with my wife," he said. "I'll pay her off for now."
Mu Siwan was stunned for a moment.
"You owe me?"
"Hmm. I'll ask you for it again when I've thought it through."
Mu Siwan frowned.
She doesn't like owing anyone anything.
However, Bo Yan had already closed his eyes again, his breathing steady, as if he was extremely tired.
Mu Siwan glanced at him but didn't say anything more.
The car continued driving forward, with neon lights flashing past the window one by one.
Her brows were still furrowed.
Then Bo Yan suddenly spoke, his voice very soft.
"Don't worry, Mrs. Bo."
"It's not illegal, it doesn't violate public order and good morals, it doesn't involve your work secrets, and it won't affect your work tomorrow."
He paused, then added.
"Also, don't take this little thing to heart."
She was stunned.
After a while, she turned her face away and looked out the window again.
As the evening breeze blew in, the furrowed brow finally relaxed.
-
The car drove into Muyan Garden.
After entering the living room, Mu Siwan went to the bedroom, while Bo Yan went to the study.
He also has an international conference to attend, which is the final stage of work for the company in the United States.
The bathroom was filled with steam.
After taking a shower, Mu Siwan came out with her hair still wet and wearing light-colored loungewear. She stood in front of the sink, picked up a hairdryer, and slowly dried her hair in front of the mirror.
The dim yellow light shone down from above, enveloping her in a soft halo.
Bo Yan came out of the study to pour water.
As I passed the bedroom door, I stopped in my tracks.
She stood there, her back to the door, her wet hair hanging down, the collar of her loungewear slightly open, revealing a glimpse of her collarbone. Steam rose from the bathroom, enveloping her and blurring everything.
My throat is inexplicably itchy.
The man subtly looked away and casually loosened his collar.
Mrs. Human Machine.
Looking at it now, it doesn't seem very human-machine.
He was distracted during the meeting.
Bo Yan sat in his study, staring at the screen, occasionally nodding or responding. He didn't hear a word of the report from the other end of the ocean; his mind was completely occupied by the scene he had just witnessed—
The woman stood under the light, her wet hair hanging down, her collarbone partially exposed, her whole body enveloped in moisture, as if she had just stepped out of a dream.
My throat is itchy again.
He picked up his cup, took a sip of water, and suppressed the inexplicable feeling.
The meeting finally ended.
Bo Yan closed his laptop, leaned back in his chair, and sat with his eyes closed for a while.
Then he got up and walked towards the bedroom.
-
A dim yellow light was left on in the bedroom.
Pushing open the door, I found Mu Siwan already asleep.
She curled up slightly in the corner of the bed, occupying only a small space, her breathing even, just like the feeling she gave off—she had little presence.
Both the sleeping posture and the person were very quiet.
