When the alarm rang, Shen Yu'an rolled over and turned it off. He remained huddled under the covers, not moving, and felt the person next to him sit up, causing the mattress to shake slightly.

"What time is it?"

"Eight o'clock."

Shen Yu'an pulled the blanket up to his chin: "Sleep a little longer, Daddy."

Xize had already gotten out of bed. Standing by the bed, he glanced down at him and said, "Baby, I'm going downstairs to cook."

"Um."

Shen Yu'an turned over and closed his eyes again.

He heard Xize going to wash up, the sound of water coming through the door, and after a while, footsteps walked towards the stairs. There was still a little warmth left in the quilt.

He lay there for another ten minutes before slowly sitting up, rubbing his eyes, and going downstairs.

Yu Ting was squatting at the kitchen doorway, licking her paws. When she saw Shen Yu'an walking over, she stood up and followed him a few steps, her tail held high.

Shen Yu'an glanced down at it and called out, "Daddy." Xize, who was stirring something in a pot on the stove, turned to look at him when he heard the sound: "Baby's awake?"

"woke up."

Shen Yu'an walked over and wrapped her arms around Xize's waist from behind, pressing her face against his back and resting her chin between his shoulder blades. Xize, still holding a spatula, flipped the egg, then turned down the heat: "I can't flip it like that."

"You rummage through yours, I'll hold mine."

Xize didn't say anything more. He fried the egg and put it on a plate, then poured more oil into the pan to fry the second one.

Shen Yu'an peeked halfway out from behind him, looking at the eggs in the pot: "Daddy, I want them on both sides."

"You didn't say that earlier."

"Then I'll tell you now."

Xize flipped the egg over. Shen Yu'an was still holding him tightly, her face pressed against his back, feeling his shoulder blades moving slightly under his clothes.

The rain stopped, circled around the two people's feet, and then moved away, squatting back down at the kitchen doorway to lick its fur.

After frying the eggs, Shen Yu'an finally let go of his hands, picked up the plate, and sat down at the dining table. Xize brought a cup of coffee and sat down opposite him, and the two ate breakfast facing each other across the table.

Shen Yu'an lowered his head, took a bite of the egg, chewed it a couple of times, and then looked up at Xize: "Daddy, your fried egg tastes better than last time."

"Looks like my cooking skills have improved."

Keep up the good work!

"Um."

Shen Yu'an lowered his head and continued eating. After a few bites, he put down his fork, reached for the coffee in front of Xize, took a sip, and then put it back.

Xize watched him finish his drink and put the cup back without saying a word. Only after he had placed the cup steadily did he speak, saying, "That cup is mine."

"I know."

"You drank it."

"Yes, I drank it."

Xize stood up and poured himself another glass, placing it in front of him. Shen Yu'an lowered his head and continued eating from his plate, his lips twitching slightly.

After finishing breakfast, Shen Yu'an put the dishes in the dishwasher and returned to stand against the kitchen counter. Xize was standing by the sink rinsing a cup when Shen Yu'an called out, "Daddy." Xize turned around and looked at him.

"The fridge is empty, let's go to the supermarket."

"Now?"

"Now. While the weather is nice."

"Then let's go upstairs and change our clothes."

Shen Yu'an went upstairs and changed into a light gray coat. Xize also changed into a dark coat and stood in the foyer waiting for him to come down. When Shen Yu'an reached the door and bent down to put on his shoes, Yu Ting followed him, squatting down beside him and looking at his shoelaces.

Shen Yu'an lowered his head and patted its head, saying he would be back in a little while. Yu Ting's ears twitched, and he turned and left.

The supermarket wasn't crowded. Shen Yu'an pushed the shopping cart ahead, with Xize following beside him, about half a cart's width apart.

Shen Yu'an stopped in the vegetable section, picked out a bunch of greens, turned them over to check the roots, put them in the car, and then took a box of tomatoes.

Xize stood next to him and, after he finished choosing, neatly arranged the pile that had been messed up.

"Daddy, what are we having for dinner tonight?"

"You decide which vegetables you choose."

"Then, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and a side of greens."

"good."

Shen Yu'an pushed the cart forward. When he reached the fruit section, he stopped and looked at the row of strawberries for a while. Xize reached out and took a box, putting it in the cart.

"Baby, you only looked for three seconds."

"You're going to buy it just because you see it?"

"You looked at it for three seconds and you clearly want to eat it. I'll get it for you."

Shen Yu'an looked down at the strawberries in the car, said nothing more, and continued pushing the car forward.

He slowed his pace as they passed the snack aisle, and Xize took another bag of potato chips and put it in the car. Shen Yu'an turned to look at him: "Daddy, what did you just take?"

"potato chips."

"I didn't say I wanted to buy it."

"You looked at it for three seconds. You want to buy it."

Shen Yu'an glanced at him, but didn't argue further, and pushed the cart toward the cashier.

Xize followed behind him, carrying a box of cookies he had grabbed from the shelf, and put it in the car before he even noticed.

Several people were queuing in front of the checkout counter. Shen Yu'an stood in line next to the shopping cart, with Xize standing behind him, his hand resting on the cart. Shen Yu'an turned to him and asked, "Daddy, what else did you grab from the snack aisle?"

"Biscuits."

"I didn't see it."

"It's in the car. You didn't notice it when you pushed the cart."

Shen Yu'an turned back to look at the cashier in front of her, but her lips twitched slightly: "What are you going to bring for me to see next time?"

"Okay. I'll let you see it next time."

When it was his turn to pay, Shen Yu'an took out his card to pay, and Xize stood next to him to help him put the items into the bag.

The two of them walked out of the supermarket, each carrying a bag. The sunlight outside was brighter than when they went in, and Shen Yu'an squinted.

Xize walked beside him, switched the bag in his hand to his other hand, and reached out to touch Shen Yu'an's hand that was carrying the bag, and then took his hand.

After returning home, Shen Yu'an put everything into the refrigerator one by one. He put the bag of potato chips in the cupboard and the box of cookies on the coffee table.

Xize stood next to him and put the bag of bread into the cupboard, while Yuting squatted at the kitchen doorway watching them.

Shen Yu'an closed the refrigerator door, turned around and stood against the counter. Xize walked over and wrapped his arms around his waist from the front. The two stood facing each other with a small distance between them.

Xize lowered his head, his chin touching his forehead, sliding down a little to stop between his eyebrows.

"The baby is very serious when choosing vegetables," Xize said.

"If you're not careful when choosing vegetables, you'll end up buying bad ones."

"Um."

Shen Yu'an also reached out and wrapped her arms around Xize's waist, pressing her face against his chest.

The two stood quietly in the kitchen and hugged for a while. Yu stopped at the door, yawned, stretched, and then lay down, resting her chin on her front paws, her tail slowly sweeping on the ground.

Shen Yu'an glanced at the time; it was noon. He then looked back, his face pressed against the spot he had been in. Xize's hand rested on his back, remaining still.
