They set off before dawn.

Shen Yu'an sat in the passenger seat, holding a cup of hot soy milk given to him by the guesthouse owner. The warmth of the cup seeped through the paper cup to his palm.

Xize is driving.

"Daddy, what time did you go to sleep last night?" Shen Yu'an turned her head and glanced at him.

"Around 12 o'clock."

Are you sleepy now?

"Not sleepy."

Shen Yu'an handed him the soy milk: "Have a sip."

Xize tilted his head and took a sip from his hand, then continued to look at the road ahead.

Shen Yu'an took the cup back and took a sip himself. The rim of the cup still held the warmth of Xize's lips.

It was already broad daylight when the car reached the foot of the mountain. There weren't many people at the cable car station, so they went straight into the carriage.

After the doors closed, the cable car began to ascend at a slow speed, and the ground gradually receded into the distance.

Shen Yu'an stood by the window looking down, and Xize stood next to him. Their hands were close together at their sides, the backs of their fingers occasionally touching before separating.

"I've ridden a cable car once before," Shen Yu'an said.

"When?"

"High school. I came with my dad, but we turned back halfway up."

Why go back?

"My dad is afraid of heights."

Xize tilted his head and glanced at him: "And what about you?"

Shen Yu'an thought for a moment: "I'm not afraid of heights. But I went back that time because I had to take care of my dad."

The cable car swayed slightly as it passed through a layer of clouds.

Shen Yu'an steadied himself by holding onto the windowsill, and Xize reached out and took his hand. The two stood by the window, and Shen Yu'an glanced at him sideways: "I'm steady."

"I know."

Shen Yu'an didn't say anything more, nor did he pull his hand away.

The cable car continued to ascend, and the white fog outside the window grew thicker and thicker until nothing could be seen.

Shen Yu'an stood leaning against the carriage wall, with Xize's hand still holding his, his thumb slowly rubbing against the back of his hand.

The light suddenly brightened the moment it passed through the clouds.

The white mist outside the window disappeared, replaced by a blue sky and a vast expanse of white snow-covered slopes. The summit was not far ahead.

Shen Yu'an released Xize's hand, walked to the window, pressed her face against the glass, and looked outside.

His eyes widened, his lips parted slightly, and his breath left a small patch of white mist on the glass before quickly dissipating.

Xize stood behind him, watching his posture pressed against the glass and his chin tilted back. After a while, he walked over to his side and looked out the window with him.

"Is it pretty?" Shen Yu'an asked without turning his head.

"nice."

Shen Yu'an's lips twitched slightly as his forehead pressed against the glass.

He stood up after a while and turned to look at Xize. Xize was also looking at him.

When the cable car arrived at the station, Shen Yu'an stepped out first, his foot sinking a little into the snow.

He stood on the platform and turned around. All around him was white, the sky was blue, and the sun shone on the snow, reflecting a dazzling light.

He squinted and turned to watch Xize walk out. Xize stopped beside him and also turned around.

"Have you ever seen a snow-capped mountain before?" Shen Yu'an asked.

"I've seen it."

Which one?

"The Matterhorn in Switzerland."

"Is it prettier here than in Switzerland?"

"It's better than the one in Switzerland. I saw the one in Switzerland by myself, but this one is for us to see together."

The two walked along the boardwalk for a while. After walking for a while, Shen Yu'an stopped and leaned against the railing of the boardwalk, looking at the distant mountains.

Xize stopped beside him, also holding onto the railing and looking in the same direction.

His shoulder pressed against Shen Yu'an's shoulder, the fabric of their coats rubbing together, making a slight rustling sound.

"What were you thinking about when you looked at the mountains before?" Shen Yu'an asked.

"I was thinking that the mountains are very big, and people are very small."

"And now?"

"Now I'm wondering if you'll still be standing next to me when we come again."

Shen Yu'an turned his head to look at him. Xize didn't look at him, still gazing at the distant mountains ahead.

Sunlight streamed in from the side, casting a sharp line of light and shadow on his face. Shen Yu'an looked at him for a few seconds, then turned his gaze back to what was ahead.

"meeting."

The wind blew again, this time stronger than before. Shen Yu'an hunched her shoulders and pulled her scarf up a little.

Xize reached out and pulled the brim of his hat down to cover his ears. His fingers paused when they touched Shen Yu'an's earlobe, without immediately pulling away.

"My ears feel so cold."

"It's because your hands are hot."

Do you want it to stay warm?

Shen Yu'an did not answer. He turned around and stood facing Xize, reached out and grabbed the front of his coat, stood on tiptoe, and pressed his lips to Xize's lips.

The wind from the snow-capped mountain passed between the two people, ruffling Shen Yu'an's hair.

Caesar moved his hand from his earlobe to the back of his head, his fingers running through his hair, and pulled him slightly toward himself.

When their lips parted, Shen Yu'an took a half step back. His lips were a little redder than before, and the corners of his mouth were slightly upturned.

"It's hot now."

Xize looked at him, then after a few seconds reached out and straightened his hair before letting go: "Let's go, there's still a long way to go."

Shen Yu'an turned around and continued walking forward.

After taking a few steps, he felt his hand being grasped by Xize, who reached out from behind and interlocked his fingers.

He didn't turn around, nor did he let go. The two walked side by side on the boardwalk, their footsteps echoing rhythmically on the snow.

At the end of the boardwalk is a viewing platform with an even wider view than before.

Shen Yu'an released Xize's hand, walked to the front of the observation deck, and held onto the railing for a long time.

Xize walked up and stood behind him, not side by side, but directly behind him. He reached out and wrapped his arms around Shen Yu'an's waist from behind, resting his chin on his shoulder.

"This is the best spot," Caesar's voice whispered in his ear.

What can you see if you're standing behind me?

"I can see the back of your head and the mountain in front of you."

He leaned against Xize's chest, and the two stood quietly on the observation deck for a while.

Shen Yu'an reached out and covered the back of Xize's hand that was wrapped around his waist, his fingertips rubbing against Xize's knuckles.

As we descended the mountain, the cable car passed through the clouds, and the view returned to white.

Shen Yu'an stood by the window for a while, then turned back and leaned against the carriage wall.

Xize stood in front of him, the two of them facing each other in the narrow space, their knees almost touching.

"Say what you just said on the observation deck again."

Which sentence?

"Do you think I'll still be standing next to you next time we come?"

Xize looked at him: "Then will you stand next to me next time?"

"Definitely."

Xize didn't speak again. He lowered his head, his lips touched Shen Yu'an's forehead, then straightened up and stood opposite him again.

Shen Yu'an lowered his head and felt that there was still a little warmth left on his forehead.

When the cable car arrived at the station, Xize got off first, then turned around and reached out his hand to Shen Yu'an.

Shen Yu'an took his hand and stepped out of the carriage, his feet landing firmly on the ground.

The two stopped at the exit. Xize was still holding his hand, and Shen Yu'an was also holding his. The two walked down the mountain path together for a while.
