It started snowing in Scotland the night after my parents left.

Shen Yu'an noticed the view outside the window while looking at her phone by the fireplace.

He looked up and saw something white drifting outside the glass. Looking closer, he realized it was snowflakes. Large flakes were falling densely, covering the grass in the yard with a thin layer of white.

He turned to Caesar and said it was snowing.

Xize walked over and stood behind him, reaching out to hug him.

The two looked out the window for a while. The snow outside was falling heavier and heavier.

When Shen Yu'an woke up the next morning, the curtains were slightly ajar. He glanced outside and saw that it was all white.

The sky was grayish-white, and the snow was still falling, but less than last night.

Shen Yu'an lay under the covers and watched for a long time.

He spent two years in England, where it occasionally snowed in London, but it was always a thin layer that melted quickly. He had never seen anything this big and thick.

He reached out and nudged Xize beside him, saying that the snow outside was heavy. Xize half-opened his eyes and glanced at it.

"Want to play?"

"Yes!" Shen Yu'an looked at Xize with bright eyes.

"No rush, we'll go out later."

After breakfast, the two of them put on thick coats and went out.

Shen Yu'an was wearing two layers, and Xize wrapped a scarf around his neck because he was afraid he would get cold.

The snow in the yard crunched underfoot. Shen Yu'an took a step and looked down, his footprints sinking deep into the ground.

He stood in the yard for a while, then squatted down and started making snowballs.

First, I made a small one, then I made a large one and stacked them on top, then I patted them down to make them firm.

Xize stood beside him watching and asked what he was doing. Shen Yu'an said, "Building a snowman. Haven't you ever built one before?" Xize said no. Shen Yu'an said, "Then come and help."

The two squatted in the snow. Shen Yu'an was in charge of shaping the body, while Xize was in charge of finding branches and pebbles to make the snowman's hands and eyes.

It took me quite a while to finally build a snowman that wasn't too big but looked decent, though it was crooked and uneven.

Shen Yu'an took two steps back to look at it, thought it didn't look very good, but smiled.

Xize stood next to him, looking at the snowman, and asked, "Does it have a nose?" Shen Yu'an said he forgot.

He found a short carrot, stuck it in, examined it for two seconds, and said, "It's ugly."

Shen Yu'an turned around, and without anyone noticing, she had made another snowball in her hand. Taking advantage of Xize's momentary lapse in attention, she threw it at him.

The snowball hit Caesar's shoulder.

Xize looked down at his shoulder, then looked up at Shen Yu'an. Shen Yu'an had already taken two steps back, smiling at him.

Xize bent down, grabbed a handful of snow, and made a ball.

His movements were slow, but steady.

When Shen Yu'an saw him making a snowball, he turned and ran. He was caught up after only a few steps, and a snowball hit him on the back. It wasn't hard, but it was cold and gave him a shiver.

Shen Yu'an turned around and threw another one, this time hitting Xize in the chest.

The two of them kept throwing things at each other, leaving a mess of footprints on the snow.

Finally, Shen Yu'an was caught by Xize. Xize was still holding a handful of snow in his hand, but instead of throwing it at him, he just held it in his hand and looked at him.

Shen Yu'an was panting heavily, the scarf on his face had slipped down halfway, and the tip of his nose was red from the cold.

Xize threw away the handful of snow in his hand and reached out to pull his scarf up for him.

"Want to play again?"

"I'm not playing anymore, it's too cold." Shen Yu'an said with a smile, her breath wafting onto Xize's face.

Xize said to go inside and warm up before going skiing in the afternoon.

Shen Yu'an asked where to go skiing, and Xize said there was a small slope nearby that wasn't steep and was suitable for beginners.

The snow stopped in the afternoon.

Xize drove Shen Yu'an to the foot of a nearby mountain, where there was a gentle, flat slope. There was no one else around, just the two of them.

Xize took two pairs of snowboards out of the trunk, helped Shen Yu'an put them on, and then taught him how to stand and how to maintain his balance.

It was the first time Shen Yu'an had worn snowboards, and he couldn't even stand up straight.

Xize helped him walk a few steps slowly, letting him get used to the slippery feeling under his feet. Shen Yu'an walked each step shakily, not daring to let go of Xize's arm.

"I'll fall if you let go," Shen Yu'an said.

"I won't let go." Xize stood in front of him, his hands on Shen Yu'an's waist. "Look ahead, don't look down."

Shen Yu'an tried to ski forward a step. His skis slid on the ground, and his body wobbled. Xize's hand immediately tightened.

After regaining his balance, he slid another step, this time with some improvement. Gradually, his steps grew longer, and he transitioned from walking to gliding.

Xize remained standing in front of him, sliding backwards, his hand never leaving his waist.

Shen Yu'an felt relaxed watching him back, but she herself was extremely nervous.

After gliding for about ten meters, Shen Yu'an felt he was getting the hang of it and told Xize to let go and try.

Xize hesitated for a moment, then let go of his hand and stood two steps away, watching him. Shen Yu'an stood still for two seconds without falling, then slowly began to slide forward.

He wasn't going fast, but he veered off course. He tried to regain his balance, but his body swayed and he fell to the ground.

He tumbled into a nearby snowdrift, his upper body sinking into the soft snow. Shen Yu'an lay there motionless, his face covered in a layer of snow.

Xize walked over and squatted down next to him, looking down at him. Shen Yu'an lifted his face from the snow, his hair and eyelashes covered in white snowflakes, and blinked at Xize.

Seeing his expression, Xize brushed the snow off his face and chuckled.

Shen Yu'an was lying in the pile of snow when she saw Xize smile and paused for a moment.

Xize usually smiles faintly, his lips twitch slightly, and he rarely laughs out loud.

But this time he really smiled, his gray-blue eyes crinkling, and the white breath he exhaled dissipated in the cold air.

"Get up." Caesar stretched out his hand.

Shen Yu'an handed him his hand, and he pulled him up from the snowdrift.

After regaining his footing, he lost his skis. He stood in the snow, stomped his feet, and patted the snow off his body.

Xize was still looking at him, his smile still lingering.

A few snowflakes still clung to Shen Yu'an's eyelashes; he didn't notice them as he shook the snow off his shoulders.

Xize reached out and pinched his chin, making him lift his face slightly, then leaned in and his lips touched his eyelashes.

With a very light touch, the snowflake was kissed away.

Shen Yu'an froze, the coolness on her eyelashes replaced by a warm touch.

He opened his eyes and looked at Xize's face, which was so close to his.

When Xize stepped back, his expression had returned to normal, but Shen Yu'an noticed a faint red mark on the tip of his ear, unsure whether it was from the cold or something else.

"Let's go, let's do it again. This time I'll help you."

Shen Yu'an hummed in agreement and bent down to put his skis back on.

Xize supported his waist again, guiding him slowly down. Shen Yu'an leaned against his arm, his steps less hurried than before.

The skis made a slight scraping sound on the snow, and the wind blew in his face, but his face was hot.

That kiss just now, the one that landed on my eyelashes, the cool lips brushed away the cool snowflakes.

He remembered it better than any skiing experience.
