Before he died, my grandfather forced me to marry the richest man in the capital.
Chapter 553 What kind of card is it? It can't really be a supermarket card, can it?
Some things are mysterious, some things are wonderful. For example, the little guy who was crying was now very quiet in Han Yue's arms.
The baby stared curiously at the unfamiliar face that had never held him before, its little eyes darting around. The scene was heartwarming; it didn't seem out of place at all for a tall man to be holding such a tiny bundle.
Lan Yunxi and Han Guoguo were both stunned by the scene. Lan Yunxi couldn't help but take out her phone and take a picture. She had imagined what Han Yue would look like holding the child, but she didn't expect the scene to be so heartwarming.
Han Guoguo, with her clever little scheme, said, "Brother, could you change your nephew's diaper? You're his uncle, after all, right?"
I glanced at the little bundle in my arms; she was so cute. I rolled my eyes at my little sister.
Meeting Lan Yunxi's expectant gaze, Han Yue finally gave in. In his memory, Ji Hancheng was quite skilled at changing diapers, so it didn't seem that difficult. He responded casually, "Mm."
Han Guoguo nudged Xixi, extremely excited. Her brother had actually agreed to help change the baby's diaper. She quickly pointed to the exact location, "The diaper is inside the cabinet."
Lan Yunxi got up and walked towards the cabinet. After a few steps, she turned back to look at Han Yue. Seeing him waiting, she opened the cabinet door and took out the diapers.
Han Yue gave his sister a cold look. "Lie over a little. There's not enough room for you on the bed."
Han Guoguo shifted her bottom and moved further inside. Han Yue put the child on the bed, then took off the child's pants, carefully untied the diaper, and threw it into the trash can on the side. "Xiao Xi, I'm going to get some water."
Lan Yunxi walked around to the foot of the bed to look at the little one on the bed, and obediently replied, "Oh, then I'll watch over him."
"Actually, there's no need to look. My brother put him in the middle. He won't fall off if he rolls over."
A moment later, Han Yue came out with a blue flower-shaped basin in his hand and used a disposable cotton cloth to wipe his little nephew's bottom. He was imitating Ji Hancheng, wiping slowly and carefully, which made Han Guoguo anxious.
Unable to hold back, she said, "Brother, you can use a little more force. I didn't give birth to a porcelain doll."
He was silenced by a single, murderous look.
Han Guoguo swallowed, shut up, and said, "Fine, do as you please."
She looked at him with an air of "I'm fine with it," pursed her lips, leaned back on the bed, and relaxed.
The door to the ward was pushed open, and what Han's mother and the others saw when they came in was Han Yue carefully wiping his grandson's bottom.
Han's mother wasn't particularly surprised; she remained calm, thinking it was only a matter of time. Han's father, however, walked over with a smile, both surprised and pleased, praising, "Not bad, Xiaoyue, you should have practiced beforehand. Now Guoguo's child is giving you a free practice session."
Then Su Yu came in: "............." He thought he had misread it and even blinked.
Han Yue noticed Su Yu's astonishment and ordered, "Take the water and pour it out."
"Um."
Once he realized it wasn't a hallucination, Su Yu quickly came to his senses and, without refusing his brother-in-law's instructions, went straight over, picked up the basin, and went into the bathroom.
Han's mother put the toiletries in a room and said to her daughter-in-law when she came out, "Xixi, the toiletries are in the bathroom tonight."
"Thank you, Sister Lu." Lan Yunxi said sweetly.
With her daughter-in-law holding her wrist, Han's mother paused for a few seconds before instructing Han's father, "That's enough. You can go home after watching the children for a while. Xixi and Xiaoyue will stay here tonight."
Meeting his wife's gaze, Mr. Han was about to say that he also lived here, but he changed his mind before he could finish, saying, "I'll just check on the kids and then leave. I'll go back and look after the house. Such a big house always needs someone to be there."
Seeing what Mr. Han said, Mrs. Han looked away and stopped talking.
Lan Yunxi: Sister Lu's intimidation lies in the fact that she doesn't need to speak, only use her eyes.
The diaper was put on quite well, neatly and properly. Han Yue used Ji Hancheng as a model in his mind, following the steps step by step. Whether it was Han Guoguo, Lan Yunxi, or Su Yu who came out of the bathroom, they all had surprised expressions on their faces.
Su Yu's surprise lasted only a few seconds before he slowly walked towards the bedside.
Han Guoguo, however, was different. She always remembered her elementary school teacher's teachings: if you have a question, you should ask it. That's what a good child does. "Brother, you didn't practice in secret, did you?"
Meeting Lan Yunxi's questioning gaze, Han Yue softened his voice, gently holding the child and preparing to put him back in the cradle. He was too soft. "Brother, give him to me. My son must be hungry."
Just as Han Yue was holding her, Han Guoguo spoke up.
Men are generally very self-aware. Han's father said, "Then Dad will go back now. Dad will come again tomorrow. Uncle Xixi is leaving."
Lan Yunxi finally had the chance to call him "Uncle," and said, "Goodbye, Uncle."
Han Yue followed Su Yu out the door. Su Yu offered to take Han's father home, but Han's father refused, saying that he had driven there anyway and that Su Yu should just take good care of Guo Guo and that he had no other requests.
They left the ward.
Han Yue followed Su Yu to the end of the corridor, opened a window slightly, and a gentle breeze blew in. This time, Han Yue didn't smoke; he just popped a xylitol tablet into his mouth and handed it to Su Yu, "Want some?"
Su Yu took the pill, popped one into his mouth, and offered it back to Han Yue. Han Yue refused, so Su Yu stuffed it into his pocket.
No one spoke for a long while. Then, Han Yue narrowed his eyes and asked, "Are you in a hurry to have a second child?"
Upon hearing this, Su Yu was completely dumbfounded. He hadn't even figured out how to handle his first child yet, let alone how to hold a baby. He had just learned to walk and wasn't thinking about taking off.
"No, I told Guoguo that we'd only have one child," Su Yu said honestly, very seriously.
Han Yue seemed to enjoy the xylitol in his mouth, and asked with a hint of disbelief, "Guoguo said she'd have another one next year, wasn't that your idea?"
With a questioning tone, Su Yu leaned against the railing with one hand and the other in his pocket, while Han Yue leaned lazily against the railing, waiting for Su Yu's answer.
"No, I told Guoguo that I would only have one child before she was born, but Guoguo said she wanted to have four so that we could make a mahjong table, otherwise we would be missing three."
Han Yue: "............." From Su Yu's words, it was clear that this was entirely the girl's vocabulary. His forehead throbbed. Of all the things she could like, why did she have to like having children?
"Are you sure you're just going to give me this? Isn't that stingy? Should we go buy something bigger?" Tang Junyao was led by Ji Hancheng out of the elevator. The two of them were empty-handed. Anyone who knew them would think they were there to see Guoguo, but anyone who didn't would think they were just visiting.
The sharp-eyed man spotted the two men in the distance at a glance. Ji Hancheng stopped and patted Tang Junyao on the shoulder, "You go in first."
Following the man's gaze, Tang Junyao saw Han Yue and Su Yu, and understood. "Okay, you can come in now. I'll send you a message."
"Hmm." With that concise reply, she strode towards Han Yue.
In the empty corridor, a man in a suit and tie appeared. He was over 1.8 meters tall and very conspicuous. His aura was out of place in the hospital.
"You're here pretty early," Han Yue teased, then looked at the man with his hands in his pockets.
"Don't worry, I didn't come empty-handed, the items were just compressed." Ji Hancheng automatically interpreted Han Yue's gaze.
The man raised his hand to look at his phone, then spoke to Su Yu, who had remained silent, "Congratulations on your level up."
Su Yu smiled politely, calculated the time, and realized that Guoguo had almost finished breastfeeding. He walked towards the door of the ward, while the two men behind him teased each other. Ji Hancheng taunted Han Yue, "You're behind."
Han Yue: "If you have a problem with that, would you feel bad if I were in front of you? I'm just giving you face."
"Indeed, I should thank you."
Han Yue quickly replied, "You're welcome."
The ward was bustling with activity as several women chatted. Tang Junyao, on the other hand, was much more professional at holding the baby, being a mother of three. While Lan Yunxi tried to hold the baby, Tang Junyao helped her position her hands and patiently explained the proper technique.
The little girl held him so well, her smile widening, looking so happy that Han Yue, who had just entered, was immediately captivated.
Ji Hancheng, standing beside him, smirked. "If you're tempted, you can keep pretending."
After saying that, she ignored Han Yue's thoughts and went straight to Tang Junyao's side to look at the child. Then she placed a card in the child's arms and said, "Keep this. Your uncle is watching me."
Han Yue glanced at the card in his nephew's arms and smiled with narrowed eyes.
Han Guoguo excitedly threw off the covers to check on her. Her mother, fearing she might fall, quickly reached out to support her, reminding her, "Slow down."
She hastily slipped on her slippers, her movements so nimble that she didn't seem like a woman who had just given birth. She picked up the card from her son's arms and examined it. "What kind of card is this? It's not a penny, is it? Ji Hancheng's account isn't empty, is it?"
"Hey, what's all this commotion? What's going on, Cheng-ge? What are you giving away? A supermarket membership card?" Lu Jinnan, who had just come in, took the card from Han Guoguo's hand.
Han Guoguo stood on tiptoe to try and get it back, but the height difference was too much. Lu Jinnan held the card up in the air and shouted triumphantly, "You can't get it, you can't get it. Standing on tiptoe won't help."
At this moment, the two clowns had completely forgotten that one was a new mother and the other was a visitor, and neither of them would give way to the other.
Finally, like the mantis stalking the cicada unaware of the oriole behind, Su Yu snatched the card from the air. Lu Jinnan's hand was empty, and he cursed, "Damn it, who?"
Su Yu said emphatically, with a hint of warning, "I."
"Just take a look, it's not like I'm going to take it away. Xiaoxue, look how stingy your brother is."
Su Xue didn't stop the two from bickering. It was the same at the Su family home, and she was used to it. She went straight to look at Guo Guo's child and said, "Wow, my nephew looks even more handsome than before."
Tang Junyao: "I came here after eating honey."
"You found out all that? I finished the whole bottle of jujube honey in my house. Xixi is holding it well, it feels like she's being held by her mother."
"Brother Yue, does it look like it? Can you feel it?" Lan Yunxi held the child and rocked him slowly and gently, with very small movements, like a cradle.
Han Yue didn't know how to respond to the young girl's words. Lately, she had been bringing up the topic of children with him. "Hmm."
Lan Yunxi found this very amusing. "Sister Lu, am I amazing?"
Han's mother walked over and took the child from Lan Yunxi's arms. "It's fine. You young people chat for a while. I'll take the child to bed."
"Thank you for your hard work, Sister Lu." Han Guoguo said cutely.
"Lie down on the bed," Han's mother reminded him. Su Yu handed the card to Guo Guo, helped her sit down, covered her with the blanket, and raised the bed to make Guo Guo more comfortable.
Undeterred, Lu Jinnan continued to ask, "What kind of card? It can't really be a supermarket card, can it?"
Ji Hancheng didn't want to bother with people who couldn't get their supermarket cards. He glanced at a blanket on the sofa and knew the reason without even thinking. He said to Su Yu, "You've got it."
Su Yu: "Likewise, please sit down." He went over and took the blankets, putting them in the closet for everyone to sit on.
Tang Junyao and Su Xue sat down on the edge of Han Guoguo's bed, one on each side, while Lan Yunxi sat next to Han Yue, whispering something to each other. Every now and then, Han Yue's lips would curl into a smile.
Ji Hancheng then instructed Su Yu: "Since I also brought a gift, give me a bottle of soda water."
Su Yu took out a bottle of soda from the cabinet but didn't hand it to Ji Hancheng right away. "If you want coffee or milk tea, that's fine with me. I'll arrange it for you."
"Fine, soda water it is then," Ji Hancheng said, looking like he was just making do.
Su Xue: "Your husband is putting on airs with my brother again, tsk tsk tsk."
Tang Junyao: "Brother Su Yu, just give him soda water, it's fine, he's not picky."
Everyone agreed that only you would say that: "............." Su Yu, soda water, why do I feel that Ji Hancheng has an underlying meaning?
