Half an hour later, the three of them arrived at the police station accompanied by a lawyer. Chen Lan was without her usual heavy makeup and energy. She seemed to have aged a lot overnight. "You're here. Yan Yan, why are you back? Mom is fine. It's just a small problem. You should focus on your studies. Don't worry about Mom."

Tang Junting knew that Chen Lan doted on this younger brother the most, and she couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. "Mom, you don't need to hide it anymore. Now the whole capital probably knows that you're in jail. You don't need to think twice; that bitch must have bought the trending topics."

Tang Junting didn't mention the argument she had with her younger brother that morning, because she knew that Chen Lan would still side with her brother. Even if she did mention it, Chen Lan would just repeat the same excuse Tang Xin had given that morning: that her younger brother should be more accommodating.

Chen Lan knew that she and Tang Junyao were bound to have a showdown sooner or later. They had only been pretending to be polite before, but now they had completely broken off relations and it was a fight to the death. "Yan Yan, you go to school. Mom is fine."

Even if it means going to jail, Mom will protect the Tang family for you. The Tang family must be yours.

Tang Junyan had already met with them, so he didn't want to stay any longer. He didn't want to hear their insults. "Okay, I'm leaving. You should reform yourself well in there. Don't worry about me. I don't think it's shameful for you to go to jail."

Chen Lan's eyes reddened as she looked at her sensible son. "Okay, Mom knows. Study hard. Your sister and Dad are here at home. Let's go."

Chen Lan didn't want her son to get involved in this mess, and she didn't want him to know anything more.

After Tang Junyan left, Tang Junting started cursing, "That ingrate wasted my time raising him. He always sides with that bitch. Don't worry, Mom, I've already spoken to Master Ji, and he said he'll get you out of here."

Chen Lan knew that getting out of here wouldn't be easy, since the person who brought her in was none other than Master Ji. Now, she only hoped that her son's future life would be secure and that her actions wouldn't affect him.

Over the years, she had understood in her heart why Tang Junyan lived at school and was taciturn. But as a woman and a mother, how could she not want to marry well and leave something for her children? As for Tang Junting, she was not worried at all; she had her own way of surviving.

Chen Lan looked very haggard, as if she had seen through many things overnight. "Tingting, go outside first. I need to talk to your father about something."

Tang Junting pouted. What did that mean? They had to talk behind her back. She felt uncomfortable, but she still walked out reluctantly.

Tang Xin felt a little flustered. Chen Lan's serious demeanor suggested she was holding something back. He sat down nervously. "What do you want to say?"

Chen Lan had followed him for so many years, how could she not know Tang Xin's character? Master Ji said that he had lost all his shares and now only had two percent left. How much would his son have left? "Old Tang, for the sake of me following you for so many years, I only ask you for one thing."

Tang Xin had a bad feeling. "Speak."

Chen Lan still wanted to hear Tang Xin talk about gambling in person. "Did you sell 8% of the shares and get addicted to gambling? That's what Master Ji said." She didn't give Tang Xin any chance to defend himself, because Master Ji's investigation was infallible.

Tang Xin didn't try to hide it at all, "Yes, I haven't been having good luck lately."

Chen Lan's eyes were already blurry with tears, her heart aching terribly. She never imagined that Tang Xin would gamble away most of their fortune, yet she still trusted him so much, transferring her own savings to him. "So there was no project at all. You used the 800 million I gave you that day to gamble, didn't you?"

"Yeah, it's just lending you a little money, is it really that big of a deal? I'll always be able to win it all back." He didn't believe he could keep losing.

Chen Lan never expected her final fate to be like this. The status of Mrs. Tang, which she had worked so hard to obtain, vanished in an instant. If Tang Xin continued to gamble, what would be left for Yan Yan? She closed her eyes and made a decision. "Old Tang, I can take everything back, but I have one condition: you transfer the villa to Yan Yan's name, and also transfer the remaining 2% of your shares to Yan Yan. If you do both, I will accept everything and never go back on my word."

Tang Xin's eyes lit up when she said she would take responsibility for everything, but after a few seconds, he heard about the transfer of property. He wasn't dead yet, so he said evasively, "Xiao Lan, Yan Yan isn't an adult yet. I can't transfer the property to him even if I want to. I'll do it when he comes of age. Besides, I only have one son. If I don't give him to him, who else can I give him to?"

Chen Lan had lost all trust in Tang Xin and wouldn't take the risk. She offered her opinion: "Add Yan Yan's name to the property certificate and the shares. Once Yan Yan comes of age, the ownership will be automatically transferred. Write a statement and have it notarized. I won't acknowledge it until I see it. You know what we've done isn't just about going to jail..."

These words sent a chill down Tang Xin's spine. He gritted his teeth and said, "Fine, don't go back on your word. I'll take good care of my son and daughter. You keep your mouth shut inside. If something happens to me, there will be no one to take care of my son."

Chen Lan didn't want to talk anymore. She turned around and went into the room. "Husbands and wives are like birds in the same forest; when disaster strikes, they fly away separately." She couldn't help but sneer inwardly. The dream was over.

A few happy and a few sad.

Tang Junyao took a day off from the hospital today because she was worried about Aunt Zhang being discharged and wanted her to have another full-body check-up. She was currently accompanying her to do various tests.

Aunt Zhang was secretly pleased, but on the surface she was just being reproachful, "I'm all better now, there's really no need for a checkup, why waste that money?"

Tang Junyao smiled and continued pushing Aunt Zhang's wheelchair, with Xiao Mei following beside her. "Just get her checked out for peace of mind. Consider it money spent for peace of mind, right?"

Two hours had passed since all the tests were completed. Tang Junyao did not cut in line; she followed all the hospital's rules. On her way back to her ward, she met Dr. Li.

Aunt Zhang greeted him with a smile, "Thank you so much, Dr. Li, for all this time."

Seeing that it was one of his patients, Dr. Li smiled and said, "You're being discharged today, right? That's great. Take good care of yourself at home and don't overexert yourself."

He then instructed Tang Junyao again, "Pay attention to the patient's nutrition, and avoid overexertion."

Tang Junyao replied, "Okay, thank you, Dr. Li."

Dr. Li exchanged a few pleasantries, saying it was part of his job, and then left.

Back in the ward, there was already a person standing there, dressed in his usual black suit, standing straight and exuding an air of nobility that seemed out of place in the ward. Aunt Zhang immediately recognized him as the young master's father, whom she had seen in the neighborhood last time.

Tang Junyao was surprised that Ji Hancheng would come over, and she introduced him first, "Godmother, he is Lele's father."

Ji Hancheng changed his previous cold demeanor and said gently, "Godmother, I'm here to pick you up from the hospital. You are Yao Yao's godmother, and you are mine too. My son's life was given to me by you. You deserve to be called godmother."

Ji Hancheng shut down all of Zhang's excuses.

Aunt Zhang wouldn't dare let such a man call her godmother; this was no joke. Tang Junyao noticed her unease and quickly said, "It's alright, godmother, you deserve it. I'll take good care of you from now on."

Ji Hancheng looked at the woman's bright smile, and the corners of his lips also curled up.

Xiao Mei had never seen such a handsome man before. The first time she met him was with Assistant Xu, and at that time she thought Assistant Xu was already very handsome. Now she wondered what the men in this city ate to grow up so well, with the men being handsome and the women being beautiful.

Xiao Mei was still helping Aunt Zhang pack her things when Ji Hancheng pulled Tang Junyao outside, gently tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. The delicate touch made her blush slightly. "What are you doing?"

"This caregiver is quite good. She seems very diligent in her work. I took the liberty of keeping her here so she can take care of you."

Tang Junyao looked at her with a questioning gaze, "Have you already reached an agreement?"

Ji Hancheng explained, "It wasn't me who made the deal; it was Xu Mingkai. I don't have her contact information."

Tang Junyao was speechless. "I don't think I asked you that. Why are you so nervous? Or did you do something you're ashamed of?"

Ji Hancheng gave a wicked smile and whispered in his ear, "I have the heart and the guts to be a thief, but you won't let me."

Tang Junyao knew what he was talking about; they were both adults, how could they not understand? She punched his chest, glaring at him with her big, round eyes, "Can you clear the crap out of your head?"

He said in a serious tone, "Aren't you a neurosurgeon? You come here."

Tang Junyao: I am a neurosurgeon, not a doctor who shovels up waste.

Around 11:30 a.m., Su Xue rushed over and saw this scene: Ji Hancheng had Yao Yao trapped in his arms with nowhere to retreat. She approached and coughed awkwardly, "Cough cough cough, you're quite busy."

Upon hearing this, Ji Hancheng consciously took a few steps back, showing no embarrassment whatsoever. He even nodded to Su Xue as a greeting before walking in another direction.

Su Xue put her arm around her best friend's shoulder, "What are you two doing...?"

Tang Junyao didn't pull the hand off her shoulder. "It's just like this, are you satisfied?"

Su Xue nodded, patting her best friend's shoulder. "Not bad, not bad. Hmm, it seems Young Master Ji can be taught a thing or two. He's become much more perceptive. Is he here to pick you up?"

Tang Junyao answered immediately, "Yes, I came to pick up my godmother from the hospital."

Su Xue kept rambling on, "That's more like it. At least he looks much better now. I hope he can stay like this forever. Sister, you must be happy in the future, very, very happy."

Tang Junyao offered her blessings and then asked in return, "I hope you'll be very, very happy too. By the way, how are things going with you and Young Master Lu?"

Su Xue licked her lips and said, "He said he'd take me out this weekend. Yao Yao, how about we go together? You bring my godson, and I'll bring Yue Yue. What do you say?"

Su Xue enjoys being with a lot of people. While it's better for just the two of them to be alone, it's more fun with a group of people when there are children. Besides, kids love being around people, and childhood should be a time for letting loose and having fun.

Tang Junyao thought it over. Her aunt and uncle were coming around next week, so maybe she should wait a bit longer. "Xixi and the others are coming next week, so why don't we go next week? Xixi loves parties and gatherings. Or you can go this week and we can organize for you to come next week. Xixi especially loves crowds. I plan to take all my annual leave next week and stay with them until we go back."

Su Xue was also tempted. "Then I'll check the surgery schedule later and take a few days of annual leave. We won't go this week. I'll come to your house this weekend and buy some things for Aunt Zhang."

"Okay, I thank you on behalf of my godmother. I'll go see Baihu first and then process your discharge."

After saying that, Tang Junyao went to Baihu's ward to take a look, gave him a few instructions, and then the group returned to Yixinyuan together.

Ji Hancheng drove himself, with Tang Junyao in the passenger seat and Aunt Zhang and Xiao Mei in the back seat.
