Chapter 95 Meeting Gift

Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows is the night view of Haicheng, with thousands of lights and cars flowing like a river.

Grandma Qin sat by the window, wearing a dark red silk blouse and black trousers. Her hair was neatly combed and adorned with a white jade hairpin, very similar to the one Yang Zhiyan was wearing today.

She wore a pair of pearl stud earrings that were very shiny.

When Grandma Qin saw Yang Zhiyan come in, her eyes lit up. She stood up from her chair, walked over, and took Yang Zhiyan's hand.

"Zhiyan is here, come and sit down."

Grandma Qin pulled her to sit down next to her, her hand never letting go.

Qin Yushang sat opposite him, wearing a dark suit with a white shirt underneath, no tie, and one button undone at the collar.

He nodded to Yang Zhiyan. "Sister-in-law," he said naturally.

Qin Yuzheng sat down next to Yang Zhiyan. He cleared his throat.

"Grandma, A-Shang, this is my girlfriend, Yang Zhiyan."

His voice was solemn, and his introduction was very formal and clear.

Then he turned to Yang Zhiyan, "Yanyan, this is my grandma, and this is my younger brother."

Yang Zhiyan greeted Grandma Qin and Qin Yushang with a smile, appearing poised and confident, neither humble nor arrogant.

Grandma Qin took two exquisite brocade boxes from the side, opened them, and pushed them in front of Yang Zhiyan.

"Zhiyan, Mid-Autumn Festival was too rushed. You left in a hurry and I didn't have time to give you the gift I had prepared."

Grandma Qin opened the first brocade box. Inside was a jade bracelet.

The jade is warm and lustrous, with a very pure emerald green color, deep but not gaudy, like water in a deep pool, with cloud-like patterns visible when light shines through it.

The bracelet was placed on a black velvet cloth, and when the light shone on it, the entire private room seemed to be bathed in a faint green hue.

Yang Zhiyan didn't know much about jade, but she knew this bracelet wasn't cheap.

Grandma Qin opened the second brocade box, inside which was a gold bracelet and a gold necklace.

The gold bracelet is a trendy style right now, engraved with a lotus scroll pattern, making it both youthful and sophisticated.

The pendant on the gold necklace is an orchid with a diamond set in one of its petals.

Yang Zhiyan looked at the orchid pendant and remembered that the gold bracelet Qin Yuzheng had given her was shaped like a plum blossom.

"It's inconvenient for you to wear a jade bracelet to work, but you can wear a necklace and a gold bracelet."

Grandma Qin closed the two brocade boxes and placed them in Yang Zhiyan's hands. "Keep them. This is Grandma's token of appreciation."

Yang Zhiyan held the two brocade boxes and looked at Qin Yuzheng. Qin Yuzheng nodded.

"Thank you, Grandma." Yang Zhiyan's voice trembled slightly.

Qin Yushang took out a document and pushed it over the table.

"Sister-in-law, this is a gift for our first meeting." Yang Zhiyan opened the document.

She glanced at it, and her hand trembled slightly.

Property transfer agreement. The property being transferred is Shengshi Tianxi, the apartment she is currently renting.

A house worth tens of millions, just given away like that? That's outrageously extravagant.

Yang Zhiyan's fingers slowly tightened around the edge of the paper, tense. Did she really deserve this much? Yang Zhiyan nervously raised her head to look at Qin Yushang.

"This is too expensive, I can't..."

"Sister-in-law," Qin Yushang interrupted her, his tone firm.

"This house was given to me empty when I first got it, so you're just living there anyway. It's the same whether it's transferred to your name or not. My brother said my gift has to be valuable; if it's too meager, he'll beat me up. Besides, the house is empty anyway. You can keep it."

Yang Zhiyan glanced at Qin Yuzheng again. Qin Yuzheng took the agreement from her hand, turned to the last page, and glanced at it.

"The note says 'voluntary gift'." He returned the agreement to Qin Yushang.

Qin Yushang took the agreement, took out a pen from his pocket, and wrote four words in the remarks column: "Voluntary gift." Then he pushed the agreement back to Yang Zhiyan.

"Sister-in-law, sign here, keep it safe, I'll handle the formalities."

Yang Zhiyan held the agreement and looked at the two brocade boxes again.

What she didn't know was that the jade bracelet was also worth tens of millions. She only knew that these things were expensive, but she didn't know they were that expensive.

She didn't refuse anymore. This was the Qin family's attitude. Grandma Qin and Qin Yu were using these things to tell her: You're not an outsider, you're part of our family now.

Yang Zhiyan felt incredibly happy.

Grandma Qin looked at her holding the brocade box and the agreement, her eyes red, and patted the back of her hand.

Grandma Qin thought to herself, "I was so wise back then. Renting the house to Yang Zhiyan and sending my grandson to live across the street from her was the right move."

Qin Yushang picked up his teacup and took a sip, watching his brother bowing his head and saying to Yang Zhiyan, "Just keep it, don't overthink it."

He thought, finally his brother wouldn't have to grow old alone. He'd give him half the company, let alone a house, as long as his brother was happy and could be cared for in his old age. He was afraid of getting beaten up in his old age. Where would he put his face then?

The meal was very harmonious. Grandma Qin put some food on Yang Zhiyan's plate and said, "Zhiyan, you're too thin, eat more."

Qin Yuzheng served Yang Zhiyan some food, saying, "Baby, try this."

Qin Yushang served himself food, watching his brother call him "baby" repeatedly, feeling indigestion from eating too much dog food.

Seeing this made even a single guy like him want to have a sweet romance.

Two people were putting food on Yang Zhiyan's plate, piling the food in her bowl like a small mountain.

She buried her head in her food, eating with great concentration. Not because she was hungry, but because happiness had come knocking at her door, and she was overjoyed.

The dinner party ended at 8:30.

Qin Yushang escorted Grandma Qin home, while Qin Yuzheng and Yang Zhiyan left the hotel and walked slowly along the sidewalk.

In late autumn in Haicheng, the evenings were cool. A breeze blew from the river, carrying the fishy smell of water and the last sweet scent of osmanthus blossoms in the distance. Yang Zhiyan, wearing a cheongsam, hunched her shoulders slightly in the wind.

"Cold?" Qin Yuzheng asked.

"It's alright," Yang Zhiyan said.

Qin Yuzheng took off his coat and draped it over her shoulders.

His coat was dark gray, made of cotton, and still warm from his body.

Yang Zhiyan put her hand into her sleeve, which was a bit long at the cuff. She rolled up the cuff twice, revealing her fingers. Qin Yuzheng took her hand.

The two walked slowly along the sidewalk, without speaking or going in any direction.

When they reached the intersection, the red light came on, and they stopped. Qin Yuzheng looked down at their clasped hands. Her hand was in his, small and enveloped.

"Baby," he said.

"Um?"

"Did you tie your hair up with a hairpin today?"

Yang Zhiyan touched the hairpin at the back of her head. "Hmm, it's white jade, and it looks a lot like the one Grandma wore today."

Qin Yuzheng looked at the hairpin, which gleamed warmly under the streetlight. Her hair was very black, and the hairpin was very white; the contrast between the two was striking, like a painting.

"It looks good," he said.

The green light came on. The two people crossed the street and continued walking.

Suddenly, someone called out from behind, "Yang Zhiyan!"

Yang Zhiyan instinctively turned around...
