His physiological preference

Chapter 39 Not Impossible

Yang Zhiyan came out and casually closed the door.

She saw Qin Yuzheng walk out of the opposite door; the dark circles under his eyes were very heavy, even more obvious than hers.

But the clothes were clean and dry, with no wrinkles at the collar. The hair looked freshly washed and was still a little damp.

Qin Yuzheng stood in front of Yang Zhiyan, about a meter away.

The motion-activated lights in the corridor were still on, casting a bright, even glow over his face. His expression was sincere and solemn.

"Good morning, Zhiyan," he said.

Yang Zhiyan looked at Qin Yuzheng, wondering what kind of trouble the big boss was up to, coming to ambush her so early in the morning? Had he argued with his girlfriend last night?

"Good morning." Yang Zhiyan suppressed the doubts in her heart.

Qin Yuzheng looked into her eyes. There were bloodshot veins in her eyes, not many, but they were particularly noticeable against the whites of her eyes.

Did she not sleep well last night either? Was it because of him? This thought softened his heart for a moment, then tightened it again.

"I'm sorry about yesterday," he said.

Yang Zhiyan was stunned. He apologized? Why did he apologize? Yang Zhiyan was completely confused.

Qin Yuzheng's gaze fell directly on her face, without flinching or feeling guilty, but with a hint of caution.

Qin Yuzheng had no idea what Yang Zhiyan was thinking. He only knew to do as his sister said: apologize sincerely, without explaining or making excuses.

He had prepared many words, but standing in this corridor, with her bloodshot eyes looking at him, those prepared words suddenly seemed inappropriate. He decided to tell the truth; the truth is the simplest thing to do.

"I shouldn't have refused you," Qin Yuzheng carefully chose each word, trying to make his mistake clear. "I should have brought you and my sister to dinner."

Yang Zhiyan's eyelashes trembled slightly.

younger sister?

"My sister Qin Yuyan came here on a business trip yesterday. I was afraid you wouldn't know her well," Qin Yuzheng continued to explain urgently, "so I didn't take you with me because I was afraid you'd feel awkward."

The motion-activated lights in the corridor went out.

The two people stood in the darkness, less than a meter apart. No one moved, and the lights did not come back on.

Only a sliver of light shone through the window at the other end of the elevator shaft. It was dim and not bright enough, but it was enough for her to see his outline clearly. He had broad shoulders, a straight back, and stood there with an upright posture.

So the girl he was being affectionate with yesterday was his sister?

Yang Zhiyan's tightly clenched hands slowly loosened. But when Yang Zhiyan realized her own nonsensical jealousy, she wondered if she had fallen for it.

"It's okay," Yang Zhiyan said shyly.

After Yang Zhiyan finished speaking, she had an awkward smile on her lips, but the weight on her chest was gone, and she naturally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Remember to take me with you next time there's something good to eat," Yang Zhiyan said, then paused and added three more words, "meal buddy."

Meal buddy.

When Qin Yuzheng heard the words "dinner buddy," a huge weight was finally lifted from his heart.

She called him her "meal buddy." Not Mr. Qin. Just "meal buddy." Her tone was relaxed and natural.

Qin Yuzheng suppressed his inner elation.

"Absolutely," he said, his voice a little louder than he had expected, because he was so happy that he forgot to control his volume. "To make amends, I'll treat you to dinner tonight."

"Not tonight," she said. "I might have to work overtime tonight."

Qin Yuzheng interrupted her, his tone carrying an unyielding certainty, "You still need to eat even if you're working overtime. I'll come pick you up."

Yang Zhiyan looked at him. The motion-activated lights in the corridor had turned on again at some point, the bright light shining on his face and illuminating his expression clearly: serious, expectant, and a little nervous about being rejected.

He should always be calm, composed, and in control of everything, but right now he looks like a primary school student standing at the teacher's office door, waiting for the teacher to correct his homework.

Yang Zhiyan wanted to laugh, but she held it back.

"Okay, I'll let you know when I get off work," she said.

"Okay, I'll wait for you downstairs at your studio."

Yang Zhiyan glanced at him, and the corners of her mouth curved up a little wider.

"Okay," she said.

Qin Yuzheng stood there, watching her walk into the elevator. As the elevator doors closed, she waved to him, a very light gesture, her fingers slightly curled.

He waved his hand as well.

The elevator doors closed.

The motion-activated lights in the corridor went out again. Qin Yuzheng stood in the darkness and slowly, deeply exhaled.

My sister is right; an apology must be sincere.

He turned and went back inside, picking up his phone from the shoe cabinet in the entryway. Several messages were displayed on the screen, the top one from Fang Yinbin:

"Secretary Qin, I'm already in the underground parking garage. When will you come down? The meeting is at nine o'clock, and I'm worried about traffic." The time is 8:20.

Qin Yuzheng glanced at the time: 8:40.

Qin Yuzheng replied, "Go now."

After sending the message, he walked to the mirror in the entryway and glanced at himself. He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark gray casual pants, his hair was a little messy, and there were dark circles under his eyes.

He changed into a white shirt and suit pants.

He saw the strawberry cake on the shoe rack. A pink box, a ribbon bow hanging down, all quietly arranged.

He picked up the cake, threw it in the trash can, and said he would buy her another one next time. Then he turned around and pressed the elevator button.

Fang Yinbin saw Qin Yuzheng walking over in the rearview mirror, quickly got out of the car, and opened the back door.

Qin Yuzheng sat down, leaned back in the chair, and fastened his seatbelt.

"Secretary Qin, you seem to be in a good mood today?" Fang Yinbin glanced at him in the rearview mirror and asked tentatively.

Qin Yuzheng didn't answer, but the smile on his lips couldn't lie.

Fang Yinbin saw the curve and knew what was going on. He didn't ask any more questions, started the car, and drove out of Shengshi Tianxi.

At 8:58, Yang Zhiyan came out of the subway station and walked into the studio.

She changed into an apron, sat down at the worktable, and picked up the cheongsam that was half-finished.

Her movements began steadily and methodically. Yang Zhiyan didn't know what was wrong with her, but she knew she should be braver, if Qin Yuzheng was also interested.

It's not unreasonable for two compatible people to fall in love. After all, they seem to enjoy each other's company. Jiang Siya said that her own happiness is the most important thing. She's quite happy with Qin Yuzheng.

In order to leave work on time, Yang Zhiyan completed her work efficiently.

The cheongsam designed for Qin Yuzheng's mother has been completed, and Qin Yuzheng said his mother likes it very much.

As long as she likes it, Yang Zhiyan is happy that others recognize her work.

At six o'clock sharp, Qin Yuzheng's car stopped at the intersection near the studio.

He didn't stop too close, but rather under the sycamore tree at the corner. From that spot, he could see the entrance to the studio building. He rolled down the car window, and the August wind blew in, hot and carrying the fresh, green scent of sycamore leaves.

Yang Zhiyan walked out of the building entrance.

She changed her clothes. In the morning she wore a white shirt and a light blue long skirt, but now she had changed into a light purple dress, which she had made herself.

The fabric was silky smooth, with a subtle sheen in the sunlight. The skirt reached her calves, and the waist was perfectly cinched, highlighting her slender waist to the fullest.

Her hair had been restyled, and it was even neater than in the morning. The hairpin was new, a white jade hairpin, which Qin Yuzheng had never seen before.

Qin Yuzheng looked at her through the car window, then pushed open the door and got out of the car.

He drove himself today, without calling Fang Yinbin. He sent Fang Yinbin home after get off work, saying, "I'll drive myself, you can go home first." Fang Yinbin didn't ask anything, but his eyes said, "I understand."

He walked to the passenger door and opened it for her.

"Miss Yang, please."

Yang Zhiyan smiled when she saw him pull the door open. It was a playful and endearing smile; being noticed was truly a pleasant thing.

"Thank you, Mr. Qin," Yang Zhiyan said, getting into the car.

Qin Yuzheng closed the door, walked around to the driver's seat, got in, and fastened his seatbelt. As he started the car, he glanced at her. She was fastening her seatbelt, her light purple dress spread out on the seat, beautiful and captivating, like a blooming flower.

"What would you like to eat?" he asked.

"You decide," Yang Zhiyan looked up, "You're better at choosing restaurants."
