Chapter 144 Drone Show

After the New Year's Eve dinner, Qin Yuzheng took Yang Zhiyan out to watch the drone show.

The drone show was held in a spacious square in the city center, but Qin Yuzheng did not take Yang Zhiyan to the square where there were crowds of people.

He booked a suite on the top floor of the tallest hotel across the square, with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the area where drones take off, offering a panoramic view of the entire square and the night sky.

The room was well-heated, with hot tea and a fruit platter on the coffee table, and the sofa was soft and spacious, allowing Yang Zhiyan to sit comfortably and watch.

Qin Yuzheng stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, turned to the side, one hand in his pocket and the other holding a cup of tea.

He glanced down at the time, then looked up at the drone formation outside the window, where hundreds of drones were preparing for their mission in the square. The red and green indicator lights on their bodies flashed in the night.

Yang Zhiyan nestled on the sofa, wrapped in a cashmere blanket provided by the hotel, holding a cup of hot milk in her hands.

"How did you find this location?"

Qin Yuzheng took a sip of tea. "Liu Minlan recommended it. It was organized by their company. They said the drone show on New Year's Eve had the best view."

The doorbell rang. Qin Yuzheng went to open the door, and Liu Minlan and Zhou Yijun were standing in the doorway.

Zhou Yijun was wearing a beige cashmere coat, with a scarf loosely draped over her shoulders. She was carrying a paper bag and glanced at Yang Zhiyan as she entered. "Zhiyan, I brought you something."

She took a thin scarf out of the paper bag; it was made of light camel-colored cashmere and felt soft to the touch. "It fits you perfectly."

Yang Zhiyan took it and touched it; it was soft and warm. "Thank you, sister-in-law."

Zhou Yijun sat down next to her and glanced down at her lower abdomen.

"Have you had any reactions recently? For the first three months, I was vomiting everything I ate and lost a lot of weight."

Yang Zhiyan shook her head. "It's okay, it's just that sometimes I crave weird things."

Zhou Yijun smiled, "That's great, being able to eat is a blessing."

She lowered her voice, "By the way, you have to be careful for the first three months, don't let Ah Zheng do anything reckless."

Yang Zhiyan blushed at her words, picked up her milk and took a sip, "Grandma said the same thing about him."

Zhou Yijun laughed out loud, and Liu Minlan glanced back at her. "What are you two talking about?"

Zhou Yijun looked up at him. "It's none of your business." Liu Minlan turned back to Qin Yuzheng and continued talking.

The lights in the square outside the window suddenly went out.

The entire square changed from brightly lit to a deep, dark blue, and the noise of the crowd subsided.

Everyone's gaze simultaneously turned to the night sky. The drone had taken off.

Thousands of drones took off simultaneously from all around the square, forming neat square formations and flashing red and green lights.

They moved slowly across the night sky, forming the words "Happy New Year".

The red light shone against the deep blue night sky, the strokes were clear, and the handwriting was neat.

Cheers and applause erupted from the crowd, and could be faintly heard even through the glass windows.

Yang Zhiyan pressed her face against the window, almost touching the glass. She saw the points of light change formation, eventually forming the shape of a dragon.

The dragon's body is winding, its scales are made of golden light spots, and its whiskers hang down from both sides of its head.

When the dragon swam to the center of the square, it suddenly dispersed and rearranged into the shape of fireworks, blooming one by one in red, gold, blue, green, and purple, like flowers that would never fade in the night sky.

She turned to look at Qin Yuzheng. "Have you seen this before?"

Qin Yuzheng stood behind her. "No."

He looked down at her, the light from the French windows reflecting in her pupils.

He reached out and tucked a stray strand of hair that had fallen to the side of her face behind her ear. Yang Zhiyan didn't turn around, but the corners of her mouth curved slightly.

The last few drones spelled out a message against the night sky: "May all lovers in the world be united in marriage."

The golden specks of light hovered, like a letter written in light, spreading out in the sky, slowly, slowly dimming, like ashes scattered by the wind.

Yang Zhiyan stood up to go to the restroom, but paused at the door.

At the end of the corridor stood a woman wearing a white down jacket, facing away from her.

It was Mo Yunyun. Yang Zhiyan stopped in her tracks.

Mo Yunyun stood by the window at the end of the corridor, clutching her phone, as if waiting for someone.

She saw Yang Zhiyan come out of the room, but she didn't come over or say anything. She just leaned against the wall, her gaze passing over Yang Zhiyan's shoulder and landing in the direction of the door.

Yang Zhiyan didn't go over. When she returned from the bathroom, Qin Yuzheng had already come out of the room and was standing in the corridor.

Mo Yunyun stood in front of him, with a normal social distance between them.

Yang Zhiyan stood at the corner and did not go over.

Mo Yunyun said, "You're completely incapable. How could you have a child? Qin Yuzheng, are you willing to wear a green hat and raise someone else's child just to cover for yourself?"

Qin Yuzheng's voice was calm: "My affairs are none of your business. A proper ex should be as good as dead."

The corridor was quiet for a moment, with only the low hum of the air conditioner.

Yang Zhiyan heard the sound of high heels clicking on the carpet as she turned around, and then Mo Yunyun's voice came again:

"Qin Yuzheng, you will regret this."

The footsteps faded into the distance, and the elevator doors opened and closed again.

Yang Zhiyan walked out from around the corner. Qin Yuzheng was still standing there, looking towards the end of the corridor.

He heard her footsteps and turned around to look at her.

Qin Yuzheng looked at her, then reached out and pulled her into his arms.

Her face was pressed against his chest, and she could hear his heartbeat, steady and strong.

"What she says doesn't matter," his voice came down from above her head, "What matters is that you're my wife."

Yang Zhiyan leaned against him without looking up, and said, "Oh."

She wrapped her arms around his waist, and she didn't ask any more questions. No explanation was needed, because he had never given her any reason to doubt.

The light at the end of the corridor shone through the window, a warm yellow, falling on the two people and casting long shadows on the dark carpet.

Liu Minlan poked her head out of the room. "There's one last drone show. Aren't you guys coming back to watch?"

Yang Zhiyan got out of his arms, took his hand, and walked back to the room.

The drone show has ended, and the crowd in the square is slowly dispersing.

When Mo Yunyun walked out of the hotel lobby, a cold wind hit her in the face. She wrapped her down jacket tighter and stood on the steps at the entrance without moving.

Her fingers gripped her phone, the screen displaying her chat with Liu Mei. The last message was from her: "When can we arrange it?"

Liu Mei was Shen Yu's secretary.

There was still no reply. She put her phone away, walked down the steps, and joined the crowd.

Her figure was swallowed up by the crowd, and the streetlights shone on the empty ground, illuminating the small patch of ground where she had just stood.

She thought to herself, she must expose his lies. Qin Yuzheng, you will regret this.

Seeing how loving they were, she couldn't bear it for a second longer.

If she knew she could use this tactic to cover things up, why did she even get a divorce in the first place?

Why not just be a couple in name only, and secretly keep a son as a mistress?

Mo Yunyun was filled with regret. She was determined to expose Qin Yuzheng's lies, but she couldn't let Qin Yuzheng know that she was the one who did it.
