His physiological preference
Chapter 123 Heaven really is against him
Back at his residence, Qin Yuzheng placed his car keys on the shoe cabinet in the entryway, changed his shoes, and turned to look at Yang Zhiyan.
She was standing in the middle of the living room, had placed her bag on the sofa, and turned to look at him.
"Baby," he said, his voice softer than usual, "do you like this house?"
Yang Zhiyan looked around; this place held many of her and Qin Yuzheng's first experiences.
There was a lot of joy and many wonderful memories. It was also a testament to the growth of their relationship.
The sofa was light-colored, and the bouquet of lilies she bought on the day of the competition was still on the coffee table, its fragrance still lingering.
The persimmon tree outside the window stood quietly under the streetlights.
She has lived here for a month, and from feeling unfamiliar at first to getting used to it now, every corner holds memories of her and him.
"Of course I like it." Her tone was completely matter-of-fact.
Qin Yuzheng nodded. Then he knelt down on one knee.
The movement was quick and sudden. His knee landed on the wooden floor.
He took a velvet box out of his pocket; it was dark blue and square. He opened it, and inside was a ring.
The gold ring band is set with a large, bright, round diamond that sparkles under the light.
There was also a file bag. He held the ring box in one hand and placed the file bag on the floor with the other, unwrapped the cord, and pulled out a document.
This is the property certificate for this house. The transfer documents have been signed, but the transferee's name field is blank.
There were also several bank cards and salary cards neatly stacked together in the document bag.
Yang Zhiyan looked at him kneeling on one knee, at the ring, and at the document.
Her mouth gaped open in shock, she raised her hand to cover her mouth, and her eyes shone.
Qin Yuzheng looked at her, and the words he had rehearsed in his mind came to his lips. He had originally planned a proper proposal ceremony, with flowers, music, and friends, to give her a formal and romantic start.
But he was also afraid that being too high-profile would cause her trouble, since his status was not suitable for being too high-profile.
Moreover, he had seriously considered that a confession needs to be romantic, so he carefully decorated the conference hall of the Jinhao Hotel with roses, petals, and the river view outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, which was a ceremonial beginning.
But marriage is different. Besides romance, a solid material foundation is even more important in marriage.
He left his property certificate, bank cards, and salary card here.
He wanted to tell her that his future belonged entirely to her. After all, love is where money is.
He will give Yang Zhiyan enough courage and confidence, letting her know that she deserves the best.
Moreover, Qin Yuzheng discovered a pattern: every time he meticulously planned something good, something would always go wrong.
He wanted to confess his feelings, but her cousin got married, and that night she stayed at a friend's house. His long-planned first time was constantly interrupted by various things.
Fate seemed to be at odds with him, always knocking his hand away just as he was about to reach out and grasp happiness.
So this time he learned his lesson. He didn't make any arrangements. Right now, he knelt on one knee in front of her, took out the ring, placed the documents on the ground, and spoke his mind.
Get this done before fate has a chance to react.
He had thought about these words for a long time and rehearsed them in his mind many times.
But at this moment, looking into her wet eyes, her trembling hand covering her mouth, and his own nervous heart, a thousand words could only be condensed into one sentence.
"Zhiyan, will you marry me?"
Yang Zhiyan's tears fell, quietly streaming down her cheeks.
"When did you prepare the ring?" Her voice trembled, tinged with tears.
"I had this custom-made the night you agreed to be my girlfriend."
Qin Yuzheng's voice was restrained yet earnest.
Yang Zhiyan's tears flowed even more fiercely.
She recalled the little moments they shared; though the time was short, every day was filled with joy. They never even argued.
He basically went along with her in everything, taking meticulous care of her, like a big tree standing beside her, so she had nothing to fear.
She reached out her hand, her fingertips landing on the edge of the ring box. Her lips barely moved when her phone rang.
The ringing of the bell was abrupt in the quiet living room.
Yang Zhiyan lowered her head; the screen displayed Teacher Mu's name.
She was taken aback. Teacher Mu should have been asleep long ago at this time. She had a very regular sleep schedule and would always turn off her phone and go to sleep before 10 p.m.
It's almost 11 o'clock now, if she's calling, it must be something urgent.
Yang Zhiyan answered the phone. "Master..."
"Excuse me, are you Ms. Yang Zhiyan?" The voice on the other end was an unfamiliar female voice. "I'm a nurse at the First People's Hospital of Haicheng City. Ms. Mu Fei fell while taking a shower and is currently in the emergency room. Would it be convenient for you to come over?"
Yang Zhiyan's fingers tightened suddenly, the edge of the phone case digging painfully into her palm.
Her face drained of color in an instant, turning deathly pale. To her, Teacher Mu was someone even closer than blood relatives.
Before she met Qin Yuzheng, it was Teacher Mu who had been helping her, supporting her, and pulling her along.
She loves cheongsams, and it was Teacher Mu who taught her how to make them.
She felt stifled in that home, but Teacher Mu secretly helped her open a card and deposited the commission into her own account, giving her confidence.
Without Teacher Mu, she wouldn't be who she is today.
Yang Zhiyan's legs went weak, her body swayed, and she took half a step back.
Qin Yuzheng stood up, caught her, and supported her waist.
"Baby, what's wrong?"
"Something happened to Teacher Mu..." Yang Zhiyan's voice trembled. She looked up at him, her eyes wet and pitiful. "Can you go back to Haicheng tonight? I'm worried about Teacher Mu being alone."
Qin Yuzheng didn't hesitate. "Okay."
He picked up his phone and dialed Fang Yibin's number.
"Fang Yibin, Haicheng First People's Hospital, contact the hospital immediately and arrange for one of the best specialists, a patient named Mu Fei. Yes, now."
He checked the flights again, "There's one at 2 a.m., I still have time."
He put his phone away, went into the bedroom, and quickly packed his luggage from the closet without any hesitation.
Yang Zhiyan followed him to the bedroom door, watching his back. He squatted down next to the suitcase, stuffed her clothes and charger inside, and zipped it up.
Qin Yuzheng turned around and saw her standing at the door, her tear stains still wet, staring blankly at him.
He walked over, reached out and pulled her into his arms, giving her a hug.
"It's alright," his voice came from above her head, low and steady, "I'm here with you."
The flight was at dawn, and the two of them sat in a corner of the waiting area.
The night breeze slipped in through the cracks in the glass door, carrying the dryness and coolness of the north.
Yang Zhiyan leaned on Qin Yuzheng's shoulder, her eyes half-closed, not asleep, her hand held in his.
As the plane took off, the lights outside the window grew smaller and smaller, like scattered stars on the ground.
Qin Yuzheng turned his head to look at Yang Zhiyan's profile, which was huddled in the back of the chair, with tear stains still clinging to her eyelashes.
Qin Yuzheng thought to himself, "Heaven is really against me. Every time it comes to a crucial moment, something always jumps out to interrupt me."
But then he thought that although there were obstacles each time, the result was always good.
After all, he eventually confessed his feelings successfully. They faced various obstacles the first time, but afterwards they had so many wonderful nights together.
He believed that he and Yang Zhiyan were a match made in heaven.
No matter how many detours you take, you will eventually reap the rewards.
He reached out and tucked her wind-blown hair behind her ear, his movements so gentle that he didn't wake her.
