Chapter 120 Actual Rewards

"You two are such a perfect match," she said, holding up her phone and adjusting the angle.

"The man is handsome, the woman is beautiful; they are a sight to behold together."

She took several photos, then handed the phone back, saying, "You guys should take more photos like this in the future. It'll be so nice to look back on them when you're old."

Yang Zhiyan took the phone and thanked him.

Looking down at the photos, she saw two people standing in front of the Hall of Supreme Harmony. Her hand was being held by Qin Yuzheng, and his shoulder was leaning slightly towards her. Neither of them was looking at the camera; one was looking at the other with deep affection.

The middle-aged woman took that photo at some unknown time. Yang Zhiyan looked at the photo and felt a warm feeling in her heart.

After leaving the Forbidden City, the two went to Beihai Park. A thin layer of ice had formed on the surface of Beihai Lake, and the sunlight shining on it made it sparkle like a giant piece of glass.

As I strolled along the lake, the wind blew across the water, carrying the coolness of the water and the rustling of leaves in the distance.

Yang Zhiyan pulled her scarf up a little, and Qin Yuzheng stopped and retied it.

His fingers tied a knot under her chin, with just the right amount of pressure.

"Do you know how to tie a scarf?" Yang Zhiyan asked, looking at his hands.

When they reached the island in the middle of the lake, Yang Zhiyan wanted to go to the restroom and asked Qin Yuzheng to wait for her on the bench.

Qin Yuzheng sat down on the bench and took out his phone to look at the photos he had just taken.

Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the treetops, casting dappled shadows on him. He was so engrossed in his gaze that he didn't notice someone approaching.

Two girls, who looked to be in their early twenties, were standing next to a bench. They had their hair in ponytails and were wearing stylish short jackets and jeans.

One of the girls, holding her phone, hesitated for a moment before finally walking over.

"Hello," her voice was a little nervous but clear, "Can I add you on WeChat?"

Qin Yuzheng looked up and glanced at her. The girl felt a little uncomfortable under his gaze, but still added, "I just think you have a lot of charisma, and I'd like to get to know you."

Qin Yuzheng turned his gaze to the phone screen.

The screen showed the group photo that had just been taken. Yang Zhiyan stood in front of the Hall of Supreme Harmony, sunlight falling on her face, and her eyes shone.

"I'm sorry," he said politely but distantly, "my girlfriend will be jealous."

The girl blushed, nodded, turned around, and quickly walked away with her companion.

Qin Yuzheng didn't look at their retreating figures, and continued flipping through the photos with his head down.

When he flipped to that group photo, his thumb paused on Yang Zhiyan's face on the screen for a moment, then he turned off his phone and put it in his pocket.

When Yang Zhiyan came out of the restroom, she saw Qin Yuzheng sitting quietly on a bench. She walked over and sat down next to him.

"Have you been waiting long?"

"No." Qin Yuzheng stood up, extended his hand, and said, "Let's go."

Yang Zhiyan took his hand and stood up with him. The two strolled around and found a coffee shop to rest.

Yang Zhiyan sat on the sofa, flipping through the photos she had taken that day.

She chose a photo of two hands clasped together, one large and one small, with their fingers interlocked, against the backdrop of the red walls and golden tiles of the Forbidden City.

Sunlight shone down from above, casting the shadows of two hands onto the red wall.

She then picked out a few more photos of herself: in front of the Hall of Supreme Harmony, by Beihai Lake, and under the White Pagoda.

Every single one of the photos was taken very well. When he photographed her, he always found a good angle and put the light and the person together.

She opened her WeChat Moments, wrote a line, "Walking the path we love with the person we love," then added the photos and clicked send.

Yang Zhi rarely posts on WeChat Moments, so when she did post, it received quite a few likes and comments.

The first comment to pop up was Jiang Siya's, a long string of exclamation marks, followed by the text:

"Holy crap! Holy crap! Holy crap! This is official!"

A row of "blessing" emojis followed. Teacher Mu also commented, posting only one word: "Okay."

Su Wan commented: "Wow! Your boyfriend is so handsome! You two were a match made in heaven when I saw you yesterday."

It was followed by an emoji with stars in its eyes.

Several classmates from the training course also commented. Some asked, "When are you bringing your boyfriend to dinner?" and others said, "Such a sweet caption." Yang Zhiyan read through them one by one, her lips curving into a smile.

She scrolled to Qin Yuzheng's WeChat Moments.

He doesn't usually update his WeChat Moments, maybe only posting two times a year. His last post was an official New Year's greeting he shared last year.

He posted something today. The accompanying photo was also the one of them holding hands, the same background, the same hands, just from a different angle.

His caption was even simpler, consisting of only one emoji, a red heart.

The comments section below Yang Zhiyan's post had a completely different feel from hers.

Fang Yibin's comment was: "Congratulations, sir." It was perfectly polite, revealing no emotion whatsoever. Fang Yibin was Qin Yuzheng's secretary; he knew how to behave appropriately.

Mu Cheng commented: "Finally decided to make it official? I thought you were going to keep your mistress hidden away forever."

A string of "hahaha" followed.

Zhou Zhanyu's comment was: "Congratulations."

Liu Minlan's comment was: "When are you inviting me to your wedding?" followed by a wine glass emoji.

After resting, the two prepared to drive back to their old house.

Yang Zhiyan brought up the matter of the gift.

Qin Yuzheng said, "I've already made all the preparations, you don't need to worry about it."

Yang Zhiyan looked at him. "What have you prepared?"

Qin Yuzheng took a paper bag.

The paper bag is white and has no logo, giving it a high-end look.

Yang Zhiyan opened it and took a look. Inside was a brocade box, dark brown in color, with no patterns on the surface.

She opened the brocade box, inside was an inkstone. The inkstone was small, about the size of a palm, with a warm, smooth texture and a very deep bluish-gray color.

The edge of the inkstone is carved with several bamboo branches, the leaves are spread out, the branches are upright, the carving is exquisite, and each leaf looks alive.

Yang Zhiyan didn't know much about inkstones, but she knew they weren't cheap. She looked up at Qin Yuzheng.

"My dad likes to write, and this is the kind he usually uses."

Qin Yuzheng's tone was casual, as if he were talking about something unimportant: "Just give it to him tonight."

Qin Guobing was a soldier by origin, and to be honest, he was a bit of a rogue soldier. In his middle age, for the sake of his public image and to appear cultured, he took up the study of calligraphy.

Yang Zhiyan looked at the inkstone, then at Qin Yuzheng.

There were also other teas, nutritional supplements, and the like. Everything was prepared perfectly.

He had everything planned out in his mind; she didn't need to think about anything, she just needed to follow him. She closed the brocade box and put it back in the paper bag.

"Thank you," she said.

Qin Yuzheng didn't say anything; he didn't like verbal thanks. He preferred tangible rewards, a kiss, a hug.

Or, try a new position.

"Baby, do you want to give me some real reward?" Qin Yuzheng coaxed.

Yang Zhiyan looked at Qin Yuzheng with a puzzled expression.

Qin Yuzheng said, "Look, I'm showing my love for you through my actions."

When Yang Zhiyan heard "I love you," her heart started racing.

"So I also need tangible rewards, which will motivate me more and give me more incentive."

As expected of a big shot, shrewd and calculating, he speaks in a grand and dignified manner.

Yang Zhiyan asked, "So what kind of actual reward do you want?"

Qin Yuzheng didn't speak, but pointed to his lips.

Yang Zhiyan instantly learned a bit of Qin Yuzheng's way of dealing with people, thinking outside the box. Applying this mindset to her designs, Yang Zhiyan created cheongsams that were more eye-catching and distinctive.

This is all thanks to Qin Yuzheng's hands-on teaching.

Yang Zhiyan said shamelessly, "But you did all this so that I could meet your family. I can choose not to go."

Qin Yuzheng died. The baby is so clever now. But can't we avoid using that cleverness on him?

After saying that, Yang Zhiyan made Qin Yuzheng lower his head and unexpectedly kissed him. Soon, Qin Yuzheng took the initiative.

Great, baby has learned it again: surprise attack, feint attack.
