The building was in a mess, with shelves overturned, goods soaking in water, and bulging packaging bags floating around.

Almost everything that was edible or usable had been soaked in water.

Lou Fengyue remembered that there was a cold storage room on this floor.

The flashlight beam circled in the damp, dark space before finally hitting a briefly locked steel door.

"Brother, you play for now, call me if you need anything."

Lou Yunzheng had just killed a zombie when he heard this and glanced in his sister's direction. Before he could see what she was doing, another zombie pounced on him.

"Where are you going?" he asked, raising his voice.

"Let's see if there's anything good."

Lou Fengyue used a wire to pry open the lock, and two zombies pounced on her, but she was kicked away.

Something that gets in the way.

The moment I pushed open the door, a damp, musty smell hit me, mixed with a hint of raw, fishy odor.

Inside was a whole row of all-steel freezers, and water was seeping out from the gaps in the cabinet doors; it was unclear whether it was rainwater or something else.

Judging by the time, it has been three or four days since the power outage. Frozen food can be stored in the cabinet for a period of time even when the power is off.

It shouldn't be broken yet.

Lou Fengyue eagerly opened the first cabinet door, which was filled with frozen steaks. She squeezed one of them; it wasn't completely softened yet.

This means it's not broken!

Take them all!

The second cabinet contained frozen dumplings and buns; take them all away.

The moment the third cabinet was opened, Lou Fengyue's eyes lit up for a moment, then dimmed again.

It's ice cream.

It's melted a little, and looks like syrup.

She only took the cup-sized portion; she can freeze it and eat it again later.

It's a bit ugly, but it's better than nothing.

When Lou Yunzheng came in after dealing with the zombies, he saw his sister sighing over the ice cream in the cabinet.

Ice cream is one of the few "luxuries" in her space; every one she eats is one less available.

"The zombies have all been dealt with, and we found two crystal cores." Lou Yunzheng spread his hands, revealing two crystals emitting a faint pink hue in his palm.

Lou Fengyue took it and absorbed it.

Then she took out a bottle of Holy Light Spring Water from her spatial storage and handed it to her brother, saying, "Drink this."

Lou Yunzheng took it and examined the small, crystal-clear porcelain bottle with a light blue hue. He could tell at a glance that it was an item rewarded by the system.

"What is this?" he asked curiously.

"Holy Light Spring Water, used to replenish supernatural abilities."

"If I give it to my parents, will they have a chance to awaken superpowers?"

"An ordinary person would explode and die if they drank it."

"..."

Lou Yunzheng didn't ask any more questions, opened the lid, and downed it in one gulp.

It doesn't have a particularly special taste, just a bit sweeter than the spring water I usually drink.

After drinking it, all the fatigue in my body vanished, just like when I absorbed the energy of lightning on the rooftop that day.

The brother and sister then went to search for usable supplies outside.

The bottom layer of cardboard boxes was completely soaked and ruined, but the shelves on the upper shelves were still intact.

Lou Fengyue waved her hand, and all the supplies on the entire shelf that hadn't been soaked were stored into her spatial storage.

Instant noodles, biscuits, tissues, and all sorts of snacks—not a single one was left.

Lou Yunzheng took out several plastic bags from his backpack and squatted down to pick up the vacuum-packed food that had been soaked in water but had not been opened.

Canned food, bottled water, and small bags of rice sealed in plastic.

After collecting everything, the brother and sister sat cross-legged in the rubber boat and began to "divide the spoils".

"Give them two bottles of mineral water, four boxes of self-heating rice, and some canned meat and instant noodles as you see fit." Lou Fengyue threw out some of the things.

Then the two of them grabbed Liu Wu and Chu Sinian's backpacks and started stuffing things into them, until both backpacks were bulging.

"We need to put something in our backpacks too, just to make it look nice." Lou Yunzheng unzipped his backpack and put in two cans of meat.

"Pack something light." Lou Fengyue took out a few packets of instant noodles and stuffed them into her brother's backpack, while she also stuffed some pickled vegetables and snacks into her own bag.

With the zipper pulled up, it looks quite decent.

With everything packed, the two pushed the rubber boat out the window and set off.

The closer to residential areas, the more floating debris there is on the water.

Clothes, pillows, plastic stools, children's toys.

A bloated cat carcass floated past the rubber boat. Lou Yunzheng turned his face away, unable to bear to look.

Lou Fengyue remained expressionless, her sensory abilities fully activated, paying close attention to any movements underwater.

The rubber boat turned into a narrow alley, with old self-built houses on both sides.

Shen Xiaoshuang's house is at the end of the alley.

The walls of the self-built houses on both sides bear traces of flooding, reaching as high as the bottom of the second-floor windows.

Lou Fengyue manipulated the vines, and the rubber boat came to a steady stop in front of the building.

The sixth floor.

She looked up and saw no lights, no sound; the whole building resembled a silent tomb.

Lou Fengyue tied the rubber boat to a tree branch nearby, without rushing to climb through the window.

The sensory ability scanned the entire building.

"Sixth floor, three zombies, one living person."

Lou Yunzheng's heart leaped into his throat. "Is it Xiaoshuang? Is she alive?"

"It's her." Lou Fengyue turned and went into the building. "You stay here and watch the supplies. I'll go upstairs to get her."

"I'll go with you." Lou Yunzheng followed behind her, his movements much more agile than in the morning.

Lou Fengyue glanced at him but did not refuse.

They put the four backpacks into an empty room on the second floor.

It appears to have been taken inside, but it was actually placed into a spatial dimension.

The rubber boat was tied up outside; at a time like this, no one dared to risk going out.

Besides, the rubber boat didn't even have an oar.

The stairwell was quiet, save for the sound of their footsteps wading through the puddles. The water only reached the second floor; the stairs leading up were dry.

Lou Fengyue went to do a mission, clearing out zombies floor by floor.

Lou Yunzheng went straight to the sixth floor.

The corridor was empty; without his sister's sensory abilities, he couldn't tell where the zombies would emerge from.

He stood in front of the familiar wooden door of 602, took a deep breath, and knocked.

"Xiaoshuang, it's me."

no respond.

He knocked a few more times, his voice louder: "Xiaoshuang, are you there?"

The sound seemed to have attracted the zombies, and strange movements were heard from several other houses.

Lou Yunzheng gripped the baseball bat tightly.

At the same time, hurried footsteps could be heard from 602, followed by the sound of heavy objects being moved.

"Wait, don't come out yet." He immediately stopped Shen Xiaoshuang from doing so.

Fortunately, Lou Fengyue acted quickly, killing one person with a single blow, and swiftly reached the sixth floor.

"I'll deal with the zombies. You take Shen Xiaoshuang and pack her luggage." After she finished speaking, she walked straight towards room 606 at the end of the corridor.
