At six o'clock in the evening, as darkness fell, the roars of the zombies became clearer and more terrifying.

With a bulging backpack on his back, Meng Bochao skillfully avoided the few zombies that were wandering around and returned to the front of the community.

His sensory abilities allow him to detect objects within a 30-meter radius, and he is constantly on alert to see if there are any "guests" in the neighborhood.

After opening the door and going inside, no outsiders were found, but several of the zombies that used to roam the building were inexplicably gone.

He suddenly slowed his pace, cautiously observing his surroundings, and walked towards Building No. 2.

The three zombies that were originally left here as bait have disappeared, and there are no other energy fluctuations in the building.

He continued uphill but didn't see the corpses of the three zombies.

That's strange, could it have grown wings and flown away?

Meng Bochao frowned, stopped on the second floor, went into the room on the left first, and distributed two bottles of water and several packets of biscuits to the people inside.

"Mr. Meng, is it not peaceful outside today?" An elderly woman with gray hair took the things and asked him cautiously.

"No, just a few zombies, we've already dealt with them." Meng Bochao smiled and said gently, "You can stay here without worry, I'll arrange for your relocation in a couple of days."

The old lady thanked him profusely, but he waved his hand and left the room.

He went into each household, distributed some supplies, said a few words of comfort, and then left.

Finally, he stood in front of the sealed steel door at the far end of the fourth floor.

The door was still the same door, the steel plate was intact, and the energy fluctuations on it remained unchanged.

He reached out and touched it, his brow furrowing slightly as his fingertips touched the metal surface.

Someone added an extra layer of gold-based seal on top.

It's not his.

Meng Bochao withdrew his hand, a sinister glint flashing in his eyes.

Instead of breaking down the door, he turned and walked towards the stairwell, continuing upwards.

Fifth floor, sixth floor.

There were no zombies, no living people, nothing at all.

He stopped in the stairwell on the sixth floor, closed his eyes, and activated his sensory abilities to the maximum.

There was nothing unusual within a 30-meter radius.

But he knew that someone had been here.

Moreover, they may not have left yet.

Meng Bochao turned and went downstairs, his steps much lighter than when he came up.

He couldn't break that gold-type seal, so the newcomer's strength must be above his!

We can't confront them head-on; we should go out and lay low for a while.

At worst, we can abandon this "factory" and find another way out!

I went straight down to the first floor, pushed open the unit door, and walked into the community garden.

As darkness fell, there were no lights in the neighborhood, only a faint halo of light coming from the direction of the distant safe zone, spreading out in a hazy gray-white across the horizon.

The moment his hand touched the iron gate, a jolt of electricity shot out, causing him to stumble back several steps.

"You're leaving so soon after getting back? Aren't you going to stay a little longer?"

A slender figure gradually emerged from the shadows. The woman was carrying a baseball bat and was completely blindfolded except for her eyes.

Those eyes were beautiful, shaped like peach blossoms.

But his eyes were terrifying, calm and deep, like a bowl of ink.

Meng Bochao stared at her warily, slowly taking a step back.

His sensory abilities could not detect this person's energy fluctuations at all.

Even ordinary people should have energy fluctuations.

But the person in front of me... is like a wisp of smoke, impossible to detect at all.

This only proves that her strength far surpasses his!

"Who are you?"

"The Death Taker."

Lou Fengyue twirled the baseball bat in her hand, a playful glint in her eyes.

Mid-C rank, that'll keep her entertained for a while.

I've been lying at home for a week, and my back and waist are aching. It's a good time to stretch my muscles and bones.

Meng Bochao stared at her, then suddenly smiled.

It wasn't a laugh born of fear, but rather a laugh that conveyed "I understand," tinged with a touch of madness.

"I think I vaguely remember you," he said. "You're the chosen one."

Lou Fengyue tilted her head slightly, not responding to his words.

Meng Bochao took her silence as acquiescence, spread his hands, and his tone became warmer: "Me too. I've seen you in the natural disaster game."

He took half a step forward, his eyes shining like someone whose path was blocked. "You're strong, stronger than anyone else."

"So?" Lou Fengyue's voice was muffled behind her mask, revealing no emotion.

"We shouldn't be enemies." Meng Bochao's voice was low, carrying a seductive tone. "This world is finished. The official safe zone system won't last long. They're still using peacetime thinking to deal with the apocalypse, and they're destined to fail."

He pointed into the building, towards the survivors huddled on the lower floors: "Look at those people, they can't do anything, they don't understand anything. All they do is wait, all they do is ask for things. Without us, they would have died long ago."

Lou Fengyue didn't speak, she just looked at him.

Meng Bochao, assuming she was listening, spoke with even greater fervor: "I have the ability to control zombies, and you have absolute power. If we join forces, we can establish true order and become the kings of the new world!"

He opened his arms as if embracing some grand vision, his smile growing increasingly manic.

"You and I stand side by side at the top of the pyramid. No one can threaten us, no one can command us! We set the rules, we allocate resources, we decide who lives and who dies!"

"Are you done talking?" Lou Fengyue's voice remained calm.

Meng Bochao's smile froze for a moment.

"Is this the ability the system gave you?" Lou Fengyue raised her baseball bat and pointed behind him.

Meng Bochao suddenly turned around.

A dozen or so zombies had surrounded them without them noticing, their grayish-white eyes gleaming eerily in the twilight, but none of them lunged at them.

They stood silently behind him, as if guided by invisible ropes, awaiting his command.

Meng Bochao slowly turned his head, a smile returning to his lips: "How about it? This ability is enough to make him your partner, right?"

Lou Fengyue stared at him for a few seconds, then suddenly smiled.

"I was just thinking of playing around with you, but I didn't expect you to be a chosen one too." She looked down at the baseball bat in her hand, as if assessing whether the bat was sturdy enough. "Since you're a chosen one, then you're even more deserving of death."

Meng Bochao's smile froze completely: "Why? We could clearly dominate the world together! Why are you working for these worthless ants?!"

"You piece of trash dare to be compared to me?" Lou Fengyue glanced at him contemptuously. "If I don't kill you, people will think that all the chosen ones are like you, which would be an insult to my reputation."

A ruthless glint flashed in Meng Bochao's eyes, and he suddenly raised his hand.

The zombies behind her rushed towards Lou Fengyue.

He then turned and rushed toward the iron gate, gathering metal-based supernatural power in his palm, intending to melt the iron gate open and escape.

boom--

The zombie at the front was smashed in the head with a club, black blood splattering everywhere.

Bang, bang, bang—

The baseball bat seemed to come alive in Lou Fengyue's hands, each swing hitting a zombie precisely on the top of its head.

There were no unnecessary movements, and not a single ounce of energy was wasted.

As soon as Meng Bochao's metal-based superpower touched the iron gate, an ice wall appeared out of thin air in front of him, completely blocking his way.

He turned around abruptly and saw that Lou Fengyue had already cleared out the dozen or so zombies and was walking towards him with a baseball bat covered in black blood.

Her pace was unhurried, as if she were taking a stroll in her own backyard.

"You..." His voice began to tremble, and he instinctively took a step back, "Just how many kinds of superpowers do you have..."

"Who said I have superpowers?" Lou Fengyue shrugged, glancing at the ice wall. "Chemistry, don't you understand?"
