Young Master Gao? Call me Little Grand Secretary!

Chapter 50 Attacking the Beggars' Clan

In the western part of Tokyo, there is a three-courtyard house.

A courtyard of this size might not seem like much elsewhere, but in Tokyo, a residence like this would cost at least tens of thousands of dollars, and only high-ranking officials and wealthy families could afford to live there.

Lu Zhishen turned to look at Gao Zhao, and asked suspiciously, "You mean the Beggars' Sect's headquarters is here?"

Gao Zhao nodded, patted Shi Qian on the shoulder, and said confidently, "There's no mistake, my brother found out!"

Lu Zhishen glanced at Shi Qian and said disdainfully, "This fellow is obviously a thief; do you really believe what he says?"

Upon hearing this, Shi Qian's lips twitched, and he awkwardly laughed, "That day, I was ordered by the young master to follow the military patrol officer. I saw him meeting with a beggar and exchanging messages. After that, the beggar came here. Later, I was worried, so I disguised myself as a beggar and went in to investigate. Those people were indeed talking about the Beggar Clan!"

Upon hearing this, Lin Chong couldn't help but praise, "Brother, you are meticulous in your work and capable of venturing deep into the lion's den to gather information. Your skills are truly remarkable!"

Lu Zhishen curled his lip and sneered, "You thieving scoundrel, you've certainly put your skills to the right place!"

Shi Qian lowered his head sheepishly. He was used to being looked down upon like this. Not only outside, but even the prisoners in the Kaifeng Prefecture prison looked down on him and bullied him!

Gao Zhao noticed Shi Qian's expression, and a thought struck him. He immediately flew into a rage, shouting, "You son of a bitch, Lu Zhishen, what nonsense are you spouting! My brother risked his life to gather information for you, and all you do is call him a thief!"

Lu Zhishen was stunned by the scolding. After a moment of hesitation, he also flew into a rage: "Isn't he a thief? What did Grandpa say wrong!"

"If he is, you should have said so! But you're still a deserter, a disobedient monk, did I say anything about you?!"

"You said it!"

"Hey!" Gao Zhao paused, then became furious and embarrassed: "So what if I told you? That's a grudge between us. You're wrong to say anything about him!"

"So what if I told you!" Lu Zhishen retorted, his neck stiff. "If you're not convinced, let's have a fight. I'll give you a handicap!"

"Trying to be a scoundrel, is that it?! I'll call out the Beggars' Sect and beat you to a pulp!"

"Come on, call out!"

Gao Zhao stood up to call for help, but Lin Chong hurriedly covered his mouth and whispered, "Young Master, please calm down. You mustn't let this ruin important matters!"

Lin Chong was completely dumbfounded. He hadn't even encountered any real adversaries while working with these two, and they were already fighting amongst themselves!

Shi Qian was touched that Gao Zhao was willing to turn against this man to stand up for him, but he didn't want the others to get on bad terms because of him, so he also advised, "Young master, don't be angry, I'm fine..."

Gao Zhao pried Lin Chong's hand away and said to Shi Qian, "You were bullied before because you had no backing, but now that you're with me, you're still being bullied. Haven't you been following me for nothing?"

"Remember this: you're my brother. Anyone who dares to bully you is bullying me!"

Shi Qian had been wandering the martial world for many years, and because of his lowly birth, anyone could trample on him. This was the first time someone had stood up for him, and he immediately felt his eyes welling up with tears and his chest tighten. He cupped his hands in a gesture of respect, his voice choked with emotion and hoarse, "Thank you, young master..."

[Gratitude points from Shi Qian +1]

Gao Zhao sighed with emotion, thinking that Shi Qian was truly a treasure!

Ever since I met him, I've earned several points of gratitude!

People of humble origins, with dishonorable professions, and who live their entire lives in darkness will be eternally grateful if given even a little light!

Hearing Gao Zhao's words and seeing Shi Qian's appearance, Lu Zhishen felt a little uncomfortable. He had no intention of arguing with Gao Zhao and turned his head away, saying nothing more.

……

The courtyard, the back hall.

Fu Jin sat at the lower end of the table, looking respectfully at the middle-aged man at the upper end who was flipping through the account books.

"Bang!"

The middle-aged man suddenly closed the account book, and Fu Jin felt a chill and quickly straightened up.

The middle-aged man turned to look at him, saying nothing. Fu Jin felt a chill run down his spine and broke out in a cold sweat before finally speaking: "This month's accounts are off; they're less than last month and the same period last year. Do you have anything to say?"

"Mr. Feng, you are wise! There is a reason for all this!" Fu Jin hurriedly stood up and explained, "A few days ago, several stalls on Ma Xing Street were robbed by Gao Yanei of the Imperial Guard. I also sent people there these past two days, but the people see beggars and call them evil people. They beat and curse them, let alone give them money."

"The next day, forty-two more people were injured by Na Caitou from the Daxiangguo Temple. Their injuries haven't healed yet, and this has caused further delays, which is why this month's profits are lower!"

Mr. Feng looked directly into his eyes, as if to confirm whether he was lying, and after a while nodded, saying, "How did you handle these two matters?"

Fu Jin breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly said, "That young master Gao is Gao Qiu's son. I think it's unnecessary for us to offend Gao Qiu over this matter; it would be a greater loss than gain. Therefore, I took the liberty of reconciling with that young master!"

"That was handled well! We're after money, not enemies. You're right!" Mr. Feng nodded and then asked, "What about the monks from Daxiangguo Temple?"

Having received confirmation, Fu Jin continued, "That monk also has a great reputation, capable of uprooting a willow tree, but he has no powerful backing; he's just a temporary monk staying at the temple. Therefore, it's perfect to use him to establish authority!"

"Hmm!" Mr. Feng nodded in satisfaction. "Our line of work involves making a living on the streets, and we're bound to encounter all sorts of troubles. Only by establishing our authority first can we make money peacefully! I wasn't wrong about you. I'll explain to the boss about the lower revenue this month, but you'll have to make up for it later!"

Fu Jin hurriedly bowed and said, "Yes, thank you for your guidance, Mr. Feng! I will certainly live up to your expectations!"

"It's good that you know what's going on..." Mr. Feng had just started to speak when a shouting and fighting sounded outside the room. His expression changed, and he demanded, "What's going on?"

Fu Jin was also confused and was about to go out to check, but Mr. Feng grabbed him.

"Guards!" Mr. Feng shouted, and several men pushed open the door and entered. He pointed to several sacks on the ground and ordered, "Take them away through the back door!"

Without saying a word, the men picked up the sacks and left.

"Fu Jin, I'm leaving this to you!" Mr. Feng patted Fu Jin's arm and said coldly, "Remember the rules of Wuyou Cave!"

Fu Jin's face turned deathly pale in an instant!

Mr. Feng said no more and turned to leave through the back door.

Watching them depart, Fu Jin gritted his teeth and shouted, "Everyone, follow me to fight!"

Immediately, a group of people rushed out and followed Fu Jin towards the front yard.

Upon arriving at the Intermediate People's Court, they saw a burly monk with a veil wielding his staff, beating the group of people until they stumbled and retreated in disarray.

Behind the monk, to the left, was a masked man holding a long stick, who would strike or sweep at anyone who approached, sending them flying.

On the right is a man with flexible bones and a strong body, moving lightly and gracefully, wielding a waist knife that flies up and down.

Among them was a young nobleman, strolling leisurely amidst the chaos!
