When Wen Song arrived at the hospital, Wen Miaomiao was already on an IV drip. She was not usually as lively as her peers, and at this moment she was even more listless, sitting on the IV chair with her head drooping.

Wen Song felt a pang of heartache and quickly walked over, squatting down in front of her. "Miao Miao, how are you?"

Wen Miaomiao looked up listlessly, about to say she wouldn't die, but seeing that Wen Song had only worn a sweater and run out in such cold weather, a ripple of emotion appeared in her eyes, and she awkwardly looked away, "I just got a rash, it's a little itchy, nothing else."

"Let me see."

Wen Song first checked Wen Miaomiao's two arms, then carefully pulled open her collar and examined her neck. His brow furrowed even more as he looked at the shocking red rashes.

"It seems a bit serious."

"The doctor said she is allergic to alcohol."

A deep, resonant voice came from behind. Wen Song turned around and saw Lu Zhiheng holding a bag of medicine. He was so tall that Wen Song, a small figure, was crouching next to Wen Miaomiao, almost completely enveloped by his figure.

His gaze was calm as he looked at Wen Miaomiao. "I remember ordering you snacks and drinks that were non-alcoholic. How did you end up drinking alcohol?"

Wen Song asked worriedly, "Miao Miao, before you left, I repeatedly told you not to drink anything in there."

Wen Miaomiao blinked, her doe-like eyes, just like Wen Song's, easily conveying a sense of pitifulness and weakness. "I didn't know it was wine. Sister Zheng Shuang said it was delicious, so I tried some."

"Zheng Shuang? She gave you this drink?"

Lu Zhiheng's expression immediately turned serious.

"Yes, she not only gave me that to drink, but she also kept asking me about you, Uncle."

Lu Zhiheng's expression froze for a moment, then he looked at Wen Song and said, "Come out with me for a moment, I have something to tell you."

Wen Song didn't know what Lu Zhiheng wanted to say to her. After comforting Wen Miaomiao, she followed Lu Zhiheng out of the infusion hall.

Lu Zhiheng stopped in his tracks by the window in the corridor, turned around, and faced Wen Song.

"What happened tonight was my responsibility; I failed to take good care of Wen Miaomiao for you."

Wen Song didn't expect Lu Zhiheng to take the blame on her right away, and hurriedly shook her head, "This has nothing to do with you, Uncle, you don't know she's allergic to alcohol."

Filled with remorse, she lowered her eyes and blamed herself, saying, "In the end, it was all my negligence. I knew her health condition perfectly well; I should have stayed by her side every moment."

Lu Zhiheng gazed quietly at the girl in front of him, feeling that her concern for Wen Miaomiao seemed to go beyond the entrustment between ordinary friends.

He pondered for a moment, then spoke again: "What exactly is your relationship with Wen Miaomiao?"

Wen Song was startled by Lu Zhiheng's sudden question, her heart tightening as she feared that Lu Zhiheng had discovered something. She even stammered, "She's my classmate's younger sister."

"Which student is it?"

Wen Song didn't dare to look Lu Zhiheng in the eye, her eyes darting around in a panic. "High school classmate, Uncle, you don't know me."

Lu Zhiheng took in Wen Song's evasive and flustered expression, and his doubts deepened. But he could also see that the girl was deliberately avoiding the question.

He softened his expression and said calmly, "Wen Song, I didn't mean to pry into your private affairs."

He tried to make his statement as concise and easy to understand as possible: "From what I've observed, Wen Miaomiao doesn't seem to be in school, right? At her age, she's at the height of her rebellion. You yourself are still a college student who hasn't graduated yet. Where would you get the financial resources and energy to take care of her long-term? Also, if this kind of unexpected situation were to happen again, and the situation were to become even more serious, how would you explain it to her family?"

Wen Song lowered her head, her fingers clenched tightly together, and for a moment she didn't know how to answer.

She understood Lu Zhiheng's meaning and knew his concerns. He was simply standing in her shoes and considering her feelings.

But she couldn't very well reveal all about Wen Miaomiao's relationship. She bit her lip and thought for a moment before reluctantly making up a reason, "Uncle, Miaomiao really isn't in school. Because of her parents' divorce, she's been a bit emotional, so her family arranged for her to take a break from school temporarily. She was awarded to her father by the court, but she doesn't get along with him. My classmate is worried that if she keeps arguing with her father, her personality will become more extreme, so she asked me to take care of her for a while."

After she finished speaking, she raised her eyes and looked earnestly at Lu Zhiheng with her dark eyes, "Uncle, my classmate helped me a lot in high school. She needs my help, and I can't just ignore her. Besides, Miaomiao is actually very well-behaved and I don't usually have to worry about her much."

Lu Zhiheng considered himself to have seen countless people, but he had never seen eyes as clear as the girl's before him. They were like a clear spring, so clear that one could see right to the bottom, yet deep within them lay a subtle attraction that firmly held one's heart.

Lu Zhiheng tried to calm himself down and finally looked away from the clear spring. "I'm just giving you a heads-up. I have no right to interfere with the final decision."

After he finished speaking, he noticed the girl's thin clothing and subtly moved closer to the wind. "Let's go inside, it's windy here."

Wen Song said "Oh," and suddenly breathed a sigh of relief. He turned and left like a lost soul. After taking a few steps, he suddenly remembered something and hurriedly turned back around.

She was distracted and didn't notice the man behind her. Caught off guard, she bumped into his arms, her forehead hitting a hard surface and her nose stinging. She cried out softly and staggered back a few steps, but fortunately, a strong hand caught her back, allowing her to regain her balance.

"I'm so sorry, Uncle!"

Beneath Lu Zhiheng's palm lay the girl's thin yet prominent shoulder blades, and the sweet scent of cream emanating from her body filled his nostrils. His breath hitched, and his mind became somewhat unsettled.

"It's okay, just be careful when you walk."

He quickly withdrew his hand and took a step back, widening the distance between them.

"Is there anything else you haven't said?"

Wen Song hummed in agreement, rubbing her nose, which ached so much she felt like she was about to cry, with annoyance. "Today at the company cafeteria, I secretly took a few photos of you, but later I deleted them and absolutely, positively, did not share them with anyone."

She blinked her eyes, which were blurred with tears. "I'm sorry, Uncle. I apologize for my behavior and promise that nothing like this will ever happen again."

If Wen Song hadn't mentioned it, Lu Zhiheng would have almost forgotten about it, when his steady voice rang out above her head.

"Did your colleague ask you to take this picture?"

Sure enough, nothing can be hidden from the man in front of her.

Wen Song pursed her lips. "She didn't mean any harm. She just... just thought you were good-looking."

She spoke softer and softer as she spoke the last few words. Although she was trying to clarify things for her colleague, it made her feel like she was offending an elder.

"I understand, I won't cause her any trouble."

Lu Zhiheng's dangling fingertips twitched gently, unaware that his tone of voice carried a hint of coaxing, "Wipe away your tears, or if someone sees them, they'll think I bullied you."

"Okay, sure."

Wen Song quickly raised the back of her hand to wipe away the tears from the corners of her eyes, and then, afraid of upsetting Lu Zhiheng, she added, "Uncle, I wasn't crying, it was just physiological tears. My nose hurt so much from hitting it just now."
