Miss Witch, even if we're poor, we can't sell ourselves!
Chapter 171 Bitter Fish and Void Moon
Miya opened her eyes.
The sky was no longer the clear, pale blue it had been in the afternoon.
Thick clouds suddenly appeared from all directions, blurring the entire sky into a hazy, gray sea, so low it seemed you could reach out and touch them.
Then a face peered upside down from directly above her field of vision, with short white jellyfish-shaped hair and pink eyes.
Le Nai squatted down beside her, tilting her head to stare at Mi Ye's face. Her eyes were a little wider than usual, her lips were slightly pursed, and her face was full of worry.
When Lena saw Miya open her eyes, her eyes lit up immediately, and she leaned forward even more. If Miya hadn't reached out and pressed down on her shoulder in time, this white-haired little witch probably would have pounced on her and licked her a few times.
"woke up."
Lena's tone remained soft and gentle, but her ahoge (cowlick) swayed, her happiness evident.
Mi Ye propped herself up on the stone platform, shook her head, and shook off the last trace of confusion.
The cat-ear hat was askew on the back of her head. She reached up to straighten it, then looked around and suddenly froze.
The clock tower garden was packed with people; a quick glance revealed at least a dozen, all little witches dressed in Star Orbit Academy uniforms.
Some people were standing on tiptoe to look this way, some were huddled together in twos and threes whispering to each other, and some were taking pictures with their phones.
"She's awake! She's awake!"
"So what exactly happened?"
"I heard from the white-haired man that he bumped into something in front of the flower bed."
"That flower is gone! Have you noticed that the red flower is missing?"
"Could it be poisoning? Should we call the principal?"
Miya listened to the chattering around her, somewhat speechless.
I only touched that flower, and it took me less than twenty minutes in my sea of consciousness to come out and find the whole garden surrounded by a vegetable market.
"Miya!"
Another voice came from the left, and the sound of a piano came from behind Lena, whose light pink hair was slightly messy in the wind.
She squatted down in front of Mi Ye, looked her up and down, and made sure that Mi Ye was alright except for being a little pale. Then she breathed a sigh of relief and reached out to help Mi Ye stand up.
After Miya regained her footing, she finally saw the two figures that Qinyin had been hiding behind her.
Two little witches who looked like they were not to be trifled with were talking on the other side of the flower bed. After hearing the commotion, they turned around almost at the same time and walked towards Miya one after the other.
The first one made Mi Ye involuntarily raise her gaze.
Her long white hair was loose, with light blue ends that reached her waist, and when the wind blew it up, it looked like dandelions spreading out.
He had a clean, youthful look in his eyes and brows. He wore no makeup and was dressed in a dark blue robe with a black ribbon tied around his waist. A long sword hung from the ribbon, slightly shorter than the katana that Asase carried.
The second one has a completely different art style.
Her light blue long hair wasn't tied up; it was casually draped over her shoulders and back, the ends slightly curled, swaying gently in the wind.
She wore a small black top hat, revealing her smooth forehead and smiling eyes beneath the brim.
She was wearing a black short dress, the hem of which just reached her knees. When she stood there, she looked somewhat like the stereotypical image of a magician that Mi Ye had in her previous life.
Then she warmly approached Mi Ye, bent down, put her hands behind her back, and spoke with a smile.
"How are you feeling? Is anything bothering you? Do you have a headache? Do you feel nauseous?"
The tone suggested genuine concern for Mi Ye's health, but as Mi Ye stared at the smiling face so close to hers, a chill inexplicably ran down her spine.
She leaned back instinctively, nodded somewhat awkwardly, and squeezed out a very soft "hmm" from her throat.
The little witch in the top hat seemed quite pleased with the reaction, and her smile deepened.
Another witch stepped forward and gently pushed her companion aside by half a step.
She looked down at Mi Ye, her eyes devoid of a smile, yet not exactly fierce either. Then, she pulled an identification document from the inside pocket of her robe and held it up in front of Mi Ye.
"My name is Kuyu, and this is Xuyue. We'd like to ask you some questions, if it's convenient for you."
Mi Ye stared blankly at the A-level certification on the certificate. She remembered that Corona Borealis had said that he was B-level, and she had also seen Corona Borealis showing off his string of mission records on the association's APP. Those records alone were enough to make her gasp.
The one in front of us is A-level, even stronger than Corona Borealis.
Even without revealing his credentials, Mi Ye could tell that the smiling Xu Yue beside her was definitely no less powerful than Ku Yu.
It's definitely not a good thing for someone to come looking for you in this situation.
She fainted after bumping into a flower on the back mountain of Star Orbit Academy. That flower was the unclaimed entrance to Jian Qiuluo's sea of consciousness, and Jian Qiuluo was a major wanted criminal with a bounty of 50 million Loren from the Witch Association.
Moreover, she currently carries a bottle of magic potion personally given to her by Jian Qiuluo. If these two guys in front of her are here to investigate Jian Qiuluo, will they find out about that bottle of magic potion, and will they consider her an accomplice of Jian Qiuluo?
Miya's mind was already replaying the scene of herself being dragged into the Witch Association's interrogation room, and a thin layer of sweat appeared on her palms.
"puff."
Xu Yue suddenly burst out laughing.
She tilted her head and stared at Mi Ye's expression for a while, then turned to Ku Yu, pouting and complaining.
"Look at you, you always have such a stern face when you do things, you scare people away."
Ku Yu turned to look at Xu Yue, raising an eyebrow slightly.
His indifferent face remained expressionless, but the words that came out of his mouth were anything but polite.
"Are you sure it's my problem? Why don't you look in the mirror and see what you look like when you smile?"
Xu Yue blinked, her smile remaining unchanged.
"I've taken a picture, it looks pretty good, at least cuter than you."
Miya was caught in the middle of their bickering, and she was a little confused.
Xu Yue was clearly too lazy to continue arguing with Ku Yu.
She waved her hand, turned back to Mi Ye, and took half a step forward.
"Okay, enough joking. We are indeed investigating some things, but it's not convenient to talk about them here right now."
"Simply put, we have a case on hand and we're short-staffed. We'd like to find someone to help. Are you interested?"
Mi Ye opened her mouth, but before she could answer, Xu Yue held up two fingers and added a sentence.
"After it's done, fifty thousand Loren."
Miya stopped halfway through opening her mouth, thought for a moment, and then began nodding frantically.
Seeing this reaction, Xu Yue's smile finally showed a hint of genuine happiness.
She took a step forward, generously put her arm around Mi Ye's shoulder, pulled her to her side, and then turned around and walked towards the steps.
"Let's not delay, let's go now!"
Miya was carried under her arm for a couple of steps, and her mind finally calmed down a little. Then she realized a very serious problem.
She still carried the bottle of magic potion that Jian Qiuluo had entrusted to her before she disappeared. Although these two A-rank witches seemed kind now, if they really came to investigate Jian Qiuluo, then this bottle on her would be irrefutable evidence.
"Please wait a moment!"
Mi Ye struggled to raise one hand under Xu Yue's arm, like a primary school student raising their hand to ask a question in class.
"I promised Qinyin I'd help her troupe perform today, and I received 5,000 Loren from them."
She turned her head and cast a pleading look at Qinyin and Lena beside her.
Qin Yin paused for a moment, then quickly took half a step forward, just about to speak up to explain for Mi Ye, but Xu Yue had already released Mi Ye and turned to walk in front of Qin Yin.
She bent down slightly, put her hands together in front of her chest, and wore that standard smiling expression on her face, speaking in a soft and gentle tone that couldn't be more deliberate.
"Does it really have to be today?"
Xu Yue's words are like a zongzi with taro and grape filling; it sounds soft and sticky on the surface, but the inside is all blood red.
Qin Yin immediately realized that there was something more to the other person's words, so she softened her tone.
"No, it's okay! We can handle it ourselves!"
She quickly waved her hand and took a step back.
Xu Yue nodded with satisfaction, then turned back and put her arm around Mi Ye's shoulder again.
"Okay, your employer said it's fine, let's go."
Seeing that there was no other way, Miya could only let herself be dragged away with a long face.
Meanwhile, Ku Yu, who was standing behind Qin Yin, walked up to her at some point, took out his phone from the inside pocket of his robe, opened the WW payment interface, and handed it to Qin Yin.
"I will pay the five thousand Loren for you. We do have some urgent business to attend to. Please forgive us for our rudeness earlier."
Before Qin Yin could refuse, her phone rang.
Ku Yu put away his phone, nodded slightly to Qin Yin, and then turned to follow Xu Yue.
As she passed by Xu Yue, she casually uttered a sentence at a volume just loud enough for Mi Ye to hear.
"The five thousand was deducted from your bank card."
"Hey! Why should I pay?"
"You're the one who abducted him."
Mi Ye was carried under Xu Yue's arm as they walked down the steps, followed by a helpless-looking Ku Yu. The students surrounding the garden automatically made way for them, their phone cameras following them as they went.
Miya subconsciously reached into her pocket, her fingertips touching the cool surface of the small glass bottle, then quickly withdrew, pretending to be just adjusting the hem of her clothes. But in her mind, she was already calculating how not to give herself away in front of the two A-rank witches.
