Chapter 118 The Ever-Crimson Young Moon

The principal's office light was still on late at night.

Andreas sat behind a desk piled high with documents, her long white hair cascading over her shoulders, her bloodshot eyes fixed on a thick stack of official documents in front of her.

The snow outside the window had stopped, and moonlight peeked through the gaps in the clouds, casting a faint silver glow on the pair of folded white wings on her back.

Beside her was a cup of black tea that had gone cold, with the words "The Most Beloved Principal" printed in gold on the rim. It was a gift from her students for Teacher's Day last year.

The secretary knocked on the door and came in, placing a stack of freshly compiled medical examination reports in front of her.

"The data from the new students' physical examinations have all been compiled. There are a few that you need to review in person, and they have been marked with labels."

Andreas nodded and gently tapped the top one with her fingertip.

Miya's medical examination form had a small two-inch photo pasted on the upper right corner of the cover. In the photo, a blonde girl was looking at the camera with slightly embarrassed eyes, her cute eyes shining brightly in the flash.

She opened the report, scanning line by line the marked numbers, pausing slightly when she saw the "vitality" column.

This child has grown quite a bit since the time in the Mirror World.

Then I turned to the last page.

In the supplementary notes section of the medical examiner, several lines of annotations circled in red pen stood out.

A black five-pointed star-shaped mark was found on the back of the subject's right hand, suspected to be the mark of the Flash of God.

[During the testing, it was found that the imprint caused mild cognitive interference to the observers. Several teachers responsible for the inspection stated that they had difficulty recalling the specific shape and location of the imprint after the inspection, and only remembered it when filling out the report. It is recommended that the principal's office follow up with a re-inspection.]

Andreas's fingertip hovered over the words "black pentagram" for a long time without moving.

He closed the report, stood up, walked to the window, and pulled back a corner of the curtain.

Moonlight fell on her closed eyelids, casting faint shadows on her eyelashes.

She remained silent for a long time, then turned and walked to the bookshelf in the corner. She took out a thick ancient book from the top shelf. There were no words on the cover, only a six-pointed star embroidered with silver thread.

This is a record of the divine lineage written by the legendary witch Tsuki Kyuya herself after divining with a crystal ball at the very beginning of the school's founding.

Centuries have passed, and the pages have yellowed and become brittle, but the writing on them remains clear. Each page is inscribed with the name of a deity and the corresponding divine mark in very neat handwriting.

Andreas turned to the title page and slid her finger down the table of contents line by line.

Ra, the Lawful Good, is marked with a golden sun.

Set, the chaotic good, is marked by a red sandstorm.

Hestia, the neutral and benevolent, is marked as the Eternal Flame.

The lawful and neutral Nemesis is marked as the Iron Scales.

Hecate, the one who is absolutely neutral, is marked as a bright torch.

Hades, the neutral being of chaos, is marked as Cerberus.

Satan, the lawful evil, is symbolized by an inverted cross.

Apophis, the neutral evil, is marked as the Moon-Eating Serpent.

The chaotic evil "@*?#!" is marked with scarlet petals.

And the goddess of magic, Isis, but there is no record of a corresponding divine flash.

She continued flipping through the pages.

The Flash of God does not only correspond to these eleven gods. In the appendix, Yue Jiuye wrote that there are many more unobserved and unnamed beings who will also leave their mark on the world. Some gods do not want to be recorded, some gods' existence is beyond the scope of astrological observation, and some may not be gods at all, but rather more ancient beings.

Andreas closed the ancient book and gently stroked the six-pointed star on the cover with her fingers.

The black star is not among the eleven known deities, nor has Yue Jiuye recorded this mark. Its image has never appeared in the crystal ball, and no document in the entire magical history of Bellavita mentions the black pentagram on the back of the hand.

There are only two possibilities: either the god watching Mi Ye is so powerful that no one has ever observed him, or Yue Jiu Ye observed him but didn't dare to write it into the book.

Neither possibility is good news.

She put the ancient books back on the bookshelf and sat back down at her desk. Her secretary pushed open the door and came in, carrying several documents that hadn't been filed yet.

Andreas arranged for some people to keep an eye on Miya, but then she remembered that Jian Qiuluo had been seen in Bellavita, so she sighed and decided to handle the matter herself.

She rubbed her temples, stood up, walked to the window, and pulled the curtains open completely.

The lights of Bellavita stretched quietly to the horizon in the snowy night, but the distant moonlight revealed a flowing crimson outline.
