Mr. Dragon Knight, the dragon girls are chasing you!

Chapter 40 That Bastard Dragon Knight!

The midday sun streamed through the crystal skylight of the dragon's nest dome, causing shadow elements to surge and churn in the light, only to be pulled back by the dragon's domain power at the base, a constant back and forth, much like Luo Ye's current mood.

Time passed slowly, and it was already noon, the time when the dragons ate their usual meal, but Serafina still showed no intention of getting up to say goodbye.

She sat languidly on a black stone bench to the side, her back and waist gracefully extended, her silver-white robe draped over the stone surface, without the slightest hint of awkwardness or distance.

Even though this was the enemy's eternal night dragon's lair where she and the Black Dragon King Eluvia had been fighting each other for thousands of years, vying for resources and confronting each other in territories, she was relaxed and at ease, just as if she were in her own Silvermoon Temple's private reception room, calmly controlling the rhythm of the entire scene.

On the pedestal, Eluvia, in her mini black dragon form, had been holding back her anger for a long time.

In just half an hour, she glanced up and sideways, casting no fewer than ten direct and sharp glances at Luo Ye, each conveying the same meaning:

Hurry up and think of a way to get rid of this silver dragon woman who is deliberately refusing to leave.

Ke Luoye kept her eyes straight ahead, her gaze unfocused, deliberately avoiding any eye contact, pretending not to receive any signals from her gaze.

Would he dare to rush him?

On one side is the Silver Dragon King, who sees through all his cards and knows all his past scandals; on the other side is the Black Dragon King, who is bound to his soul and monitors his heartbeat and emotions in real time.

What if the Silver Dragon King explodes against me? Wouldn't I be doomed?

After repeated attempts to suppress her anger failed, Eluvia finally couldn't contain her frustration any longer. Her cold, vertical golden pupils locked onto Seraphina, her tone filled with impatience: "When are you leaving? Can't you see no one's paying attention to you?"

"What's the rush?" Serafina slowly swirled her teacup, her tone casual and relaxed.

"I rarely come all this way, don't you want to catch up with me a bit?"

"In no mood."

"How hurtful are those words to a dragon." Seraphina sighed softly, her tone feigning melancholy, but her face showed no sign of hurt from rejection; instead, her expression was even more amused.

"At least let me have lunch before I leave, right? I haven't even had breakfast yet."

Eluvia was about to refuse on her own, but Luo Ye was one step ahead.

To prevent the situation from spiraling out of control and to escape the suffocating atmosphere, Luo Ye broke the silence first, standing up to defuse the situation: "I'll go prepare some food."

Serafina turned her head at the sound of her voice, a hint of surprise flashing in her silver eyes: "You can cook now?"

"...I know a little." Luo Ye had already moved his feet quietly, quickly retreating towards the exit of the main hall. He only wanted to escape this place of trouble where he was being watched by two pairs of eyes and could cause trouble at any time. He wanted to get as far away from the two dragon kings as possible.

"Then I'll have to give it a good try." Serafina tilted her head slightly, a smile on her face.

"I'm curious to see what level of cooking a dragon knight can produce—I hope he won't disappoint me?"

Luo Ye didn't reply, and slipped out of the main hall as if the wind was blowing through her feet.

On the pedestal, Eluvia was originally planning how to throw Serafina out along with the chair when she heard the words "Now you can cook," and a certain string in her mind was suddenly plucked.

Now?

She tilted her head slightly, her gilded vertical pupils narrowing slightly.

Why say "now"? The word is used strangely—as if she knew before that Luo Ye couldn't cook.

No, that's not right.

Eluvia shook her head, banishing the thought.

I must have been overthinking it. That old woman Serafina was digging traps with every word she said today. Everything she said was loaded with hidden meaning. She was probably just making sarcastic remarks on the spur of the moment.

How could she possibly know Luo Ye? Luo Ye was someone she picked up from the Rift Valley battlefield; his background was perfectly clean, and he had absolutely no connection to the Silver Dragon Clan.

She shook her head and slapped her tail twice on the base stone, as if to completely dispel this unreliable idea.

Serafina's aloof and arrogant temperament meant she barely paid attention to even ordinary silver dragons, so how could she possibly know a human?

"What are you thinking about?" Serafina's voice drifted up from below, carrying just the right amount of curiosity, as if she saw through something but still wanted to ask.

"What's it to you?" Eluvia replied irritably, shifting her gaze to the palace gate and staring in the direction where Luo Ye had disappeared. Yet, a small part of her heart felt like it had been gently scratched by something, an itch she couldn't quite put her finger on.

She stared at the palace gate for three seconds, then forcefully suppressed that slight unease.

I must be overthinking it, I'm sure of it.

While Eluvia was still pondering those words, Luo Ye had already passed through the barrier and stepped into the back valley.

He breathed a sigh of relief, finally leaving behind the terrifying environment where the two dragon kings clashed across the air.

The valley was bathed in direct sunlight, the stream shimmered, and the rustling of wild rabbits darted through the bushes, all accompanied by the scent of earth and vegetation.

But this rare moment of relaxation lasted for less than a second.

Almost at the same moment he stepped out of the barrier, Eluvia's jealousy, which she had suppressed all morning, finally found an outlet, bombarding her with it all through their soul connection:

"You clearly told me before that your heart raced when you saw the Dragon King, and that it was just a normal nervous reaction of a subordinate towards royalty, filled with awe and reverence!"

"So if she just lightly touched the back of your hand, would your heart skip a beat and your heart rate completely go haywire? Huh? Say something!"

Luo Ye raised his hand and pierced the fat wild rabbit that darted out from the stream with a clean and swift motion, but the corner of his mouth twitched involuntarily as he began to consider whether to reply.

"Speak! You damned dragon knight!" On the other end of the soul link, he could almost picture Eluvia lying on the pedestal, her dragon wings slightly spread, her tail slapping against the stone slabs with a loud crackling sound.

"It's just a touch of the back of your hand, why is your heart pounding like it's in the middle of a battle?!"

Luo Ye crouched down to process the prey's fur, quickly organizing his words, doing everything in his power to salvage his crumbling credibility:

"Your Majesty, it's like this—sudden skin contact with a cold object triggers an autonomic nervous system stress response, and arrhythmia is an instinctive physiological phenomenon, which does not mean—"

"So you mean," Eluvia interrupted him, her voice turning colder.

"My body temperature is too high, isn't she cooler? You prefer cooler things?"

Luo Ye paused, his dagger still. Wait, what kind of brain circuit is this little black dragon?

"...Your Majesty," he sighed resignedly, his voice softening, "your body temperature is always just right; ten Silver Dragon Kings couldn't compare to one you."

There was a two-second silence on the other end of the soul link.

Then came a muffled, nasal hum, a short, strained hum that was hard to tell whether the anger had subsided or was just building up more resentment: "...humph."

Luo Ye breathed a sigh of relief and quickly processed the rabbit pelt, thinking about how to deal with the situation when they returned.

Inside the main hall, Eluvia huddled on the pedestal, her tail swishing slowly twice. Her gilded vertical pupils stared at her folded claws, feeling that something about what she had just said was a little off, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

"Is that damn dragon knight trying to harass me?"

She shook her head, dismissing the thought.

"Forget it, that idiot dragon knight isn't going anywhere anyway. I'll just ask him when he gets back."
