Mr. Dragon Knight, the dragon girls are chasing you!
Chapter 28 Bandaging the Wound
Serafina put away the dragon scales and turned to walk into the depths of the palace.
On the other side, the moment Luo Ye passed through the barrier, it felt as if he was immersed in a cool curtain of water, and a fine, tingling sensation spread across his skin, which disappeared in an instant.
The view before me suddenly opened up.
The interior of the castle was more than twice as deep as its outline could be seen from the outside, clearly due to the presence of spatial magic.
All four walls are made of a single piece of obsidian, polished to a smooth surface that reflects a person's image. Inside the stone, dark purple magical veins meander and intertwine like blood vessels, gleaming with a cold light in the dim light.
The dome was ridiculously high, reaching tens of meters in height. The cracks in the stone were filled with tiny, shadowy crystals arranged in the shape of star trails, shimmering with a faint light, as if an entire night sky had been placed overhead.
In the very center of the main hall, a huge black dragon base sits.
The design depicts an ancient black dragon with its wings folded and body curled up in rest. The dragon's head faces the palace entrance, while its tail curves inward to form an arc-shaped reclining position.
Thick shadow elements gathered around the base into a jet-black mist, slowly churning and rising and falling as if they were alive.
Luo Ye was engrossed in watching when Eluvia flew off his shoulder, her mini-dragon wings flapping rapidly as she circled his head before landing in mid-air in front of him.
"What are you daydreaming about?" She tilted her head, her tone laced with barely concealed smugness.
"Never seen the proper palace of the Eternal Night Dragon King? Are you stunned?"
"I've never seen anything like it before." Luo Ye honestly scanned the area, his gaze sliding from the starry dome to the flowing light wall, and finally landing on the smooth, mirror-like ground beneath his feet.
"Your Majesty, this palace... is much larger than I expected."
"Of course," Eluvia huffed, her slender dragon tail held high. "My eternal night dragon nest was rebuilt by the elders over a thousand years; how could it not be magnificent?"
She raised her dragon head, pointing to the black dragon base in the center, and suddenly her tone became serious:
"Hey, see that bed? That's where I sleep, the core location of the most violent and concentrated shadow element in the entire dragon's nest."
"Whatever you do, don't lie down there—the shadow elements there are so dense they could turn a person to dust on the spot. You're a human, without dragon scales protecting you, and if you lie down there for half an hour, you won't even be left ashes."
Luo Ye's hand, which was about to touch the dragon throne to test its feel, stopped awkwardly in mid-air: "I'll just look, I won't touch it."
"This way." Seeing Luo Ye's embarrassed expression, Eluvia stopped teasing him and turned to fly towards the corridor on the left side of the main hall.
Luo Ye took a step and followed. Every few steps along both sides of the corridor, there was a dark purple magic lamp embedded in the wall. The light was constant and stable, casting long shadows of the man and the dragon on the stone wall, which changed slowly as they walked.
At the end of the corridor stands a heavy, solid obsidian door, its surface engraved with minimalist shadow anti-slip patterns, exuding a sense of weight and stability.
Eluvia landed lightly on the round metal handle of the stone door, and with a gentle push from her slender dragon tail, the stone door, in conjunction with the underground magic array, emitted a deep, heavy sound of stone rubbing together, and slowly and steadily opened inward.
"This will be your living quarters from now on."
Luo Ye peeked inside.
The room wasn't big, about 20 square meters, but it was enough to stay in. There was a stone bed against the wall, thickly covered with the fur of a Frostspine Beast, which looked very warm.
There was a stone table nearby, with a ceramic pot and cups on it. In the corner was an empty bookshelf, covered with a thin layer of dust.
The overall style of the room... how should I put it, it's very "dragon-like aesthetic"—rugged, practical, and with a sense of primal power.
"This is where I used to store miscellaneous items. I've temporarily tidied it up for you to live in." Eluvia floated in mid-air, her small face feigning indifference and aloofness, but the tip of her slender dragon tail swayed slightly uncontrollably.
"Don't overthink it. I just thought you were too dirty and didn't want you to soil the rest of my dragon's lair."
Luo Ye saw through her insincerity at a glance, but did not expose her awkward tenderness in public.
He stepped into the room, casually touched the edge of the stone table, and deliberately teased, "Was this really used to be a dumping ground for junk?"
Eluvia's tail tip stiffened abruptly, and she turned her head away, her gilded vertical pupils darting about, but her words remained firm: "It used to be used to store junk, but now it's empty and not needed anymore. What, you're not satisfied with your place?"
"Satisfied, extremely satisfied." Luo Ye suppressed a smile as he looked at her, who clearly had put a lot of effort into tidying up but stubbornly refused to admit it, and said earnestly.
"Thank you for your trouble, Your Majesty."
"...Hmph." Eluvia snorted softly, then turned away from the bedside, refusing to say another word.
Luo Ye silently added labels to the black dragon in front of him: Eluvia - stubborn but soft-hearted - tsundere and awkward - Wings of Eternal Night.
He is ruthless and aloof to outsiders, but clumsy and gentle to his own family, and stubbornly refuses to admit that he cares about others.
He casually placed his simple backpack on the stone table and was about to ask about the location of the indoor washing and bathing area when his gaze suddenly sharpened, fixing on the base of the left wing of the small black dragon floating in mid-air.
A thin, fresh wound appeared where the left wing root connected to the torso. The black scales at the edge of the wound curled up, revealing tender red flesh underneath.
The dragon's dark golden, warm blood slowly seeped down along the texture of its wing membranes, dripping onto the ground and striking the stone bricks with a clear, crisp pattering sound that was particularly eye-catching.
"Your Majesty, your wings are bleeding."
Eluvia glanced down and nonchalantly flapped her wings: "It's nothing, I aggravated an old wound while traveling. Dragons heal very quickly, it'll be fine in a bit."
"I heard it when you got grazed by the rock spikes just now; the sound of your scales breaking was very clear." Luo Ye had already stood up, his tone no longer casual, but unusually serious.
"Come over and lie down, or sit properly."
"What kind of tone is that? How dare a mere human command the Black Dragon King who rules the eternal night?" Eluvia instantly bristled her tiny dragon scales, her dragon wings slightly unfurled, striking a majestic pose as a dragon king.
Luo Ye quickly toned down his domineering attitude, softened his tone, and obediently admitted his mistake: "I said please. Please come and kneel down, Your Majesty, so I can examine your injuries."
Eluvia snorted, folded her wings sullenly, and muttered, "I just don't want to compete with you," but her body honestly landed on the thick, soft fur mat by the bed and lay down.
She turned her head towards the wall, leaving him with the back of her head that seemed to say, "I'm too lazy to move, that's why I let you touch me."
"Where is the medicine?" Luo Ye asked softly.
"What medicine?"
"Does Your Majesty have medicine in your palace? We need to apply medicine and bandages to prevent the wound from tearing and worsening."
"I said it's harmless, no need to apply medicine—"
"I know you have an extremely strong self-healing ability and won't die," Luo Ye said calmly, gently interrupting her boastful words.
"But when you raised your claw just now, your wing root snapped, clearly pulling on the tendon. If it's not stabilized, the next time you flap your wing, the tear will be bigger, and it will hurt even more."
Eluvia opened her mouth, wanting to refute, but found that he was absolutely right.
She did feel a faint stinging pain at the base of her left wing, as if something was pulling at that muscle.
She originally planned to deal with it herself after Luo Ye fell asleep, but he found out beforehand.
She turned her head away sullenly, lowering her voice, which carried a hint of unwilling compromise:
"In the private storage room on the right side of the main hall, on the third row of wooden shelves, there is a matte black ceramic jar containing healing ointment. Bandages are on the first shelf of the adjacent storage cabinet."
"Okay, wait for me here." Luo Ye instructed, then turned and quickly walked out of the guest room.
Following Elvia's guidance, Luo Ye successfully entered the constant-temperature storage room, which was dry and dark, and contained various dragon supplies organized into different categories.
The black earthenware jar was sealed tightly. When the lid was opened, a cool herbal scent wafted out, the same scent as the medicine she had applied to his skin last time.
He took a clean bandage from next door and hurried back.
When they returned to the room, Eluvia lay obediently on the thick fur.
When I returned to the room, Eluvia was still lying obediently on the fur mat, her left wing slightly open, revealing the still bleeding gash, but her head was stubbornly turned to the other side, as if to say, "I'm just too lazy to move."
Luo Ye did not expose her.
He sat down by the bed, opened the cap of the ointment, dabbed a little with his finger, and whispered instructions:
"It might hurt a little, just bear with it."
"I have lived for over four thousand two hundred years, bearing countless battle wounds, enduring blade wounds, rock cuts, and dragon breath burns. How could a mere small crack—"
Before she could finish speaking, Luo Ye's fingers had already gently pressed against the edge of the slit at the base of her wing.
The moment the ointment touched the wound, Eluvia's dragon body tensed up abruptly.
Her left wing twitched involuntarily, but she quickly forced herself to relax.
Luo Ye moved very gently.
He applied the ointment along the edge of the crack and slowly spread it, then gently pressed it into the cracks with his fingertips.
The warmth of the fingertips and the slightly cool ointment rubbed together, creating a delicate and soft sensation.
Eluvia lay on the cushion, always turning her head to the other side so he couldn't see her expression.
But her dragon tail betrayed her.
The long, thin black dragon tail dragged on the floor, its tip drawing chaotic arcs uncontrollably.
Every time Luo Ye touched the wound, the arc of the wound would draw faster, revealing her panic and helplessness.
As his fingertips inadvertently brushed against the intact scales at the base of his wing, the arc suddenly stopped, bounced sharply to the side, and then slowly retracted as if to appear natural.
At the same time, the black scale at the base of her neck gradually turned a light crimson color from its root, like ink seeping into water, spreading silently.
Luo Ye lowered his head, focusing on bandaging, but couldn't help but let a slight smile appear at the corner of his mouth.
"What are you laughing at!" Eluvia didn't turn around, but her voice was clearly tense.
"I wasn't laughing." Luo Ye immediately straightened his lips. "I was focused on bandaging my wound, I was very serious."
"Liar." Eluvia scoffed softly, lacking confidence and unable to refute.
