Although it was an apology gift, the woman showed no sign of humility.

Her last sentence was even more threatening.

Looking at the three generous gifts, Lin Gui had no reason to refuse.

He really didn't want to be enemies with Qianta.

At least, not right now.

He smiled and responded to the woman, accepting the gift and the wooden box that represented the end of the half-demon hunt.

After Lin Gui accepted, the woman smiled and placed a purple sound transmission stone on the table.

She said that anyone encountering any trouble in Qianta could contact her disciple.

They will help Lin Gui solve any trouble.

Then, she got up to say goodbye.

At the post office entrance, the afternoon sun slanted across the stone pavement, casting long shadows.

Lin Gui saw the woman out.

The handsome man in the dark gray uniform was already waiting outside the door, holding a light gray cloak in his hands.

He stepped forward and, with remarkable ease, draped the cloak over the woman's shoulders, his fingertips lightly brushing against her shoulders for a moment.

The woman turned her head and smiled at him. The smile was very faint, yet it carried an indescribable intimacy.

The handsome man's ears turned slightly red, and he took a half step back, standing with his hands at his sides.

The soul mage who was leading the way stood on the other side of the carriage, opening the door for the woman.

His fingers tapped lightly on the door frame twice, his gaze falling on the woman's face with a familiar tenderness.

The woman reached out and placed her hand on his forearm, using it to step onto the footboard. As her fingers fell, she gently pressed against his cuff.

The Soul Mage lowered his head slightly, his lips twitched, but he remained silent.

The two were separated by half a carriage's distance, yet it was as if an invisible thread connected them.

Elvia stood behind Lin Gui, taking in everything.

With just a few small gestures, she saw Wang Jie's shadow in the other person.

She raised an eyebrow slightly but remained silent.

The woman stood by the carriage door, but did not go in immediately.

She turned around, looked at Lin Gui, and suddenly tilted her head slightly.

"Captain, actually, from the very first time we met, I always felt a sense of familiarity with you."

"Have we met somewhere before?"

Her gaze fell on Lin Gui's face, with a cautious curiosity.

Lin Gui's eyes narrowed slightly, then he smiled and shook his head.

"Before I participated in the transport team selection, I was just a wandering mage in a remote place."

"The only possible connection with the lady is probably through the newspaper."

"The sense of familiarity that the woman perceives may be an illusion."

The woman laughed upon hearing this, her eyes crinkling into crescents.

"A hero's origins are irrelevant."

"I was also a wandering monk in my early days, born in a back alley and among the common people."

"It took a lot of hard work to climb to my current position."

She looked at Lin Gui, a cryptic light flickering in her eyes.

"It seems that we, who come from the same social class, will have a lot in common to talk about."

She paused, turned her head, and looked past Lin Gui to Elvia, her eyes filled with a hint of mockery.

"I wonder if Speaker Roland would mind if I invited your captain to dinner?"

"Such an outstanding man, even I am a little tempted."

Elvia clenched her fists behind her back, but a gentle smile bloomed on her face.

"Of course I don't mind. Actually, I've been wanting to find an opportunity to get to know you better."

The woman smiled and nodded, saying nothing more.

She bent down and climbed into the carriage, the hem of her deep purple robe flashing past the door.

The curtain fell, the wheels rolled over the stone slabs, and drove deeper into the street.

After seeing the woman off, Elvia's sly smile vanished instantly.

She turned her head and looked at Lin Gui with displeasure.

This guy not only praised another woman's looks in front of her, but also looked at that woman tenderly the whole time?

He's never done that to himself?

Just as she was about to interrogate her husband, Lin Gui stopped her.

The smile vanished from his face the moment he watched the woman leave.

He turned and went back into the post office that Qianta had given him.

As the Eye of the Netherworld silently opened, the Breeze Barrier also silently activated.

Before long, wind elements filled the entire post office.

He began to investigate the situation inside the post office.

living room.

basement.

Inside the wall.

Ceiling mezzanine.

The bottom of the guest table.

Every corner, every crevice, was scanned by his gray eyes, permeated by his magical perception and wind element.

Within the vision of the Eyes of the Underworld, the soul cannot be concealed.

Lin Gui's almost absurd mastery of wind magic allows him to sense the presence of any magic.

He scanned it again and again, not missing a single corner.

Ultimately, he discovered a few very small magical listening devices and alchemical creatures.

A tiny alchemical beetle, no bigger than a grain of rice, is affixed to the back of the chandelier base, its compound eyes gleaming with a faint red light.

A listening rune the size of a fingernail is embedded on the inside of the guest table leg, almost blending into the wood grain.

A silver centipede, as thin as a hair, was coiled in the crack of the window frame, its tentacles trembling slightly.

There were also two tiny listening insects, one hidden in the paint layer on the back of the mural, and the other lurking deep in the plush of the carpet edge.

These alchemical creatures have no independent consciousness and rely solely on magical fluctuations to maintain their operation.

All sounds within the room are converted into magical signals and transmitted to the caster through tiny sound transmission stones.

As Elvia watched Lin Gui unearth one by one the extremely tricky magical items, she thought it was over and was about to speak when Lin Gui stopped her again.

Lin Gui went up to the second floor, opened the window, and looked sideways at the exterior wall of the post office.

The exterior walls are made of dark gray granite, with fine mortar filling the gaps. The surface is polished smooth, and there is no sign of anything unusual.

But he reached out and ran his fingertips over several seemingly ordinary cracks in the stone.

With the levitation spell activated silently, two alchemical flies, each the size of a sesame seed, flew out from the gap and were pinched between his fingers.

He landed back on the windowsill and crushed the alchemical creature.

Elvia stared in disbelief at the scene.

She was not surprised at all that so many methods were used in the post office.

She often did the same thing when she was outwitting her older brothers and sisters in the Carter capital.

If Qianta hasn't done anything wrong, then she needs to be on guard.

To her surprise, Lin Gui had figured out all the methods in less than a few minutes.

Even if Elvia led her team to investigate these tiny alchemical creatures, listening spells, and magical items, it would take at least half a day.

This unintentional display of skill made Elvia forget her initial anger.

She couldn't help but ask.

"How did you do that?"

Lin Gui clapped his hands and replied calmly.

"Their methods weren't particularly sophisticated."

"I used my wind magic to sense them and I was able to detect the magical fluctuations they were emitting."

"These alchemical creatures and runes need to continuously absorb surrounding magic to maintain their operation, and my Breeze Barrier makes the flow of magic within the post office extremely sensitive."

"Any extra magic absorption point will leave a trace in the flow of the wind."

Elvia crouched down, picked up a crushed alchemical beetle from the ground, and examined it closely.

She rubbed the fragments between her fingers again, examining them for a while.

"A tiny alchemical beetle, the highest-end listening model on the market, sells for five thousand gold coins on the black market."

"And this rune patch, the way it's embedded in the wood grain, is something only a seasoned assassin specializing in assassination and stealth would do."

"The centipede in the window frame is thinner than a hair. It's hidden in the crack and you might not be able to find it even if you break open the wall."

She stood up, brushed the crumbs off her hands, and turned to look at Lin Gui.

The astonishment in his tone was undisguised.

"If it were my team, which was swallowed up by the Black Tide, it would take them several days to find these things."

"You're something else, you managed to find out everything in just a few minutes."

She paused, her golden eyes narrowing slightly, as if reassessing the person before her.

"Your perception abilities have probably surpassed those of Shia."

Lin Gui shook his head, his tone remaining calm and composed.

No.

"My perception is subtle, but Shia's perception is very broad."

"I can't do what she does, being able to spot a demon kilometers away just by looking at it."

He recalled the first time he met Shia.

With pure eyesight, the other party immediately spotted the pitiful adventurer being carried in the demon's mouth several kilometers away.

Thinking of this, Lin Gui couldn't help but sigh.

He snapped out of his reverie, looked up at the window, and gently waved his right hand.

The window closed silently, and the curtains were drawn.

Immediately afterwards, everyday items from the storage space appeared out of thin air.

The bed, cabinet, supply box, and clothes rack were placed on the floor in a neat and orderly fashion.

After doing all that, he turned and walked towards the stairwell.

"I'll go deliver the goods from the Silver Silk Merchant Guild first."

He paused at the top of the stairs and turned his head to the side.

"Could you set up the post office here?"

"Since Qianta has shown us such goodwill, we don't need to hide anything anymore."

After saying that, he stepped down the stairs.

However, just as he stepped onto two steps, he heard Elvia's voice behind him.

"stop."

The voice wasn't loud, but it carried a chilling heat.

Lin Gui suddenly stopped walking and slowly turned around.

Elvia stood at the top of the stairs, arms crossed, looking down at him.

His golden eyes narrowed into slits, and the corners of his mouth were pressed into a tight straight line.

He looked like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, his back tense up.

"You just now—"

Her voice was squeezed out one word at a time through her teeth.

"He was gentle, obsequious, and lecherous towards that woman, and even complimented her on her beauty—"

She spoke slowly and deliberately, raising her voice slightly with each word.

"So beautiful it makes you lose your composure?"

She took a deep breath, her chest heaving violently.

"You've never said that to me before!"

"Aren't you going to explain this?"

"The love I entrust my life to."

As she spoke, she started walking down the steps.

The stairs were made of wood, and each step her heel took produced a crisp knocking sound.

Each knock came closer and deeper than the last.

Lin Gui did not retreat.

He stood there, looking up at her.

Elvia walked up to him, so close that he could smell her faint body fragrance.

She didn't stop, but took another half step forward, forcing Lin Gui back against the wall.

She raised her right hand and slammed her palm against the wall next to Lin Gui's ear.

Her body pressed down on him, the forward curve clearly outlining the curves beneath her tight leather armor.

Those proud peaks were almost pressed against Lin Gui's chest, separated only by a thin layer of clothing.

She lowered her head slightly, her long golden hair falling from her shoulders, the ends brushing against Lin Gui's collarbone.

Golden eyes were close at hand, their pupils reflecting Lin Gui's calm black eyes.

She tilted her head, a dangerous smile playing on her lips.

"Is it my figure that's not attractive to you?"

She glanced down at her proud mountain peaks, then looked up, her gaze sharp as a knife.

"Or are you just tired of seeing my face, the kind that could punch elves and kick angels?"

"Is that why he showed such a fawning and gentle attitude towards a woman who was keeping multiple men?"

Her breath brushed against Lin Gui's face, carrying a hint of sweet coldness.

They were so close that if she moved just an inch closer, her lips would touch the tip of his nose.

Lin Gui was pinned against the wall by her, but he didn't panic at all.

He looked into Elvia's golden eyes, which were filled with anger and questioning, and suddenly gave a strange smile.

"I am indeed very interested in that woman."

"I was indeed very fascinated by her body."

Elvia's eyes suddenly turned cold, and her pupils contracted sharply.

Anger surged from her eyes like flames, and her hands, which were braced against the wall, trembled slightly.

However, Lin Gui did not give her the chance to retaliate.

He turned his head slightly, brought his lips close to her ear, and spoke in a very low voice, almost as a whisper.

"I'm obsessed with her head; I want to cut it off."

"I'm obsessed with her eyes; I want to gouge them out."

"I'm obsessed with her limbs and want to dismember her."

"And those damned souls."

Elvia's anger froze for a moment.

She remained motionless, pinning him against the wall.

The anger in his golden eyes had not yet subsided, but confusion and astonishment surged up like a tide.

She blinked.

He blinked again.

Then she uttered a very short syllable from her throat.

"Clam?"

That syllable carried a clear sense of confusion and astonishment.

It was like a ball of anger being suddenly doused with a bucket of ice water, hissing and steaming.

Lin Gui smiled, raised his hand, and patted her shoulder.

"If Shia were here, she wouldn't react like you."

"She will sympathize with that woman."

"Because she said that people who make me fawn over them and lower my pride usually don't end up well."

He said this in a very calm tone.

Even with a smile.

But in the pure blackness beneath her eyes, the murderous intent was so intense that Elvia's spine involuntarily tensed for a moment.

"It's a pity, though."

Lin Gui withdrew his hand, his voice so soft it was as if he were talking to himself.

"Killing her now will not benefit our subsequent plans."

"I can only endure it."

Elvia realized that Lin Gui knew that woman?!

"Do you know her?"

Lin Gui sneered.

"Qianta, who wouldn't recognize this person..."

"The Soul Tower Master who rose to power by stepping over the corpses of countless people, the Grey Widow, Luna Roslin."
