After leaving the sewers, Lin Gui walked into the street.

The sun was shining brightly, and the crowds were dense.

He mingled in the crowd, walking at a moderate pace, just like the other pedestrians on their way.

His grey robes were washed white in the sunlight, and the brim of his hat covered most of his face.

A subtle fluctuation of magical energy emanated from within the robes.

He reached out and took out the communication stone, then infused it with magic.

He said a few words to the person opposite him, responded with an "um," gave a brief reply, stuffed the stone back into his pocket, and turned into a side street.

After several turns, he stopped in front of a quiet restaurant.

The storefront is small, and the signboard is a bit old.

Pushing open the door, the front hall was empty, with only one waiter dozing off behind the counter.

Lin Gui didn't stop. He walked through the front hall and turned into a private room at the end of the corridor.

Push open the door.

The two people in the private room had been waiting for a while.

Freya sat by the window, holding a cup of tea, but didn't drink it.

Sunlight streamed in through the window, casting a pale golden glow on her fair profile.

An elderly man with white hair was sitting opposite her.

The old man was wearing a dark robe with a circle of fine silver patterns embroidered on the cuffs.

He had a slender face and a calm, mature air about him.

Although those eyes were surrounded by wrinkles, their gaze remained clear.

Lin Gui took off his hat and said to Freya.

"Miss Freya, it's been a long time. May I ask what brings you here?"

Freya looked at him with a complicated expression.

Many things were churning in those deep blue eyes.

She was silent for a moment, then turned her head to look at the old man beside her.

"Please sit down."

"And this is—"

The old man waved his hand and took over the conversation himself.

"Old man, I'll do it myself."

He smiled, a warm smile.

"My name is Alec Griffith, the former headmaster of the Heart of Elements."

"But let's not talk about those empty titles, just call me Griffith."

Freya added from the side.

"Dean Griffith is a legendary mid-ranking mage who has taught at the Thousand Towers for over forty years."

"Many wandering mages born into poverty have received his help, and several of his students have now become legends."

"Including me."

Griffith waved his hand, his smile fading slightly.

"Let's not talk about things from when we were young."

He turned his head and looked at Lin Gui, his gaze carrying the gentleness of an elder looking at a junior.

"Little Freya mentioned you to me when we were in Silvermoon City."

She said how outstanding you are, and that if possible, she would like me to personally help you, rather than just being a figurehead.

Griffith paused for a moment, then his smile deepened.

"Now it seems she underestimated you."

"Truly, heroes emerge from among the young."

He stretched out his hand and handed it towards Lin Gui.

"However, I'm not really of any help this time."

Lin Gui quickly stood up, grasped the old man's hands with both of his, and bowed slightly.

"You flatter me, sir."

"I was just lucky."

"Mr. Morgan contributed the most to this selection process."

"If it weren't for his magic, that train would never have been able to complete the entire journey."

He wasn't lying.

If we're talking about credit, Morgan definitely deserves 90% of the credit.

To speed up the 10,000-ton train, Morgan had fainted once due to magic depletion along the way, and was subsequently forcibly awakened by Lin Gui.

After finally managing to unload the cargo at Dongteburg, they rested and recovered somewhat.

On the way back, Lin Gui drained him of almost all his magic power.

"Besides, the fact that the old gentleman came in person already shows me the greatest respect."

Griffith smiled but didn't reply.

But when Lin Gui mentioned the name "Morgan," the smile on his face faded slightly.

After a moment of silence, he looked at Lin Gui and lowered his voice.

"Morgan... he's the reason we came to you."

Lin Gui was stunned for a moment.

"Does the old gentleman know His Excellency Morgan?"

Griffiths did not answer immediately.

He picked up the teacup in front of him, took a sip, put it down, and looked out the window as if he were recalling something from a long time ago.

"We met a long time ago."

He turned his head and looked at Lin Gui again.

"Morgan Adrian, that young man is extremely talented."

"I have been teaching for over forty years and have seen countless geniuses, but those like him can be counted on one hand."

"His understanding of magic, his affinity for elements, and his precision in manipulating magic far surpass those of his peers."

"If it weren't for his half-demon identity, he would have become one of the youngest legendary mages in the Thousand Towers City, just like Freya."

Lin Gui listened quietly without interrupting.

Griffiths paused, as if considering what to say next.

"No matter how high a half-demon's talent is, without the accumulation of massive resources, it is impossible to reach the level of a legend."

"But he eventually became a legend nine years ago, becoming the only legendary mage of the half-demon race."

"There must be a very powerful force or person behind him supporting his cultivation."

"Do you know who this person is who supports a half-demon's ascension to legendary status?"

"It is the great sage, Merlin Ambrose."

Griffiths paused for a moment.

He turned his head and looked at Lin Gui, a hint of surprise flashing in his clear old eyes.

"You know?"

Lin Gui nodded.

"Mr. Morgan told me that."

Griffith and Freya exchanged a glance.

The expressions on their faces were somewhat subtle.

Griffiths was silent for a moment, then spoke, his voice a few decibels lower than before.

"Do you know why the great sage sponsored him?"

"Magic talent alone is not enough to attract that monster's attention."

"He himself is the most talented mage in Akara in a thousand years, and the only mage to achieve epic status."

Lin Gui did not hesitate.

"It's because of demonic energy."

"Lord Morgan's magical research has made it possible for humans to master the magical energy unique to demons."

He paused for a moment.

"This led to the Thousand Towers' hunt for half-demons."

In fact, Morgan was not initially aware that the theory would eventually lead to demonic energy.

He initially used his half-demon body for experiments in order to break through the limitations of resources on magic power enhancement.

But it turned out to be Pandora's box.

It was only when the Alliance Council issued the expulsion order that he discovered the person who had been quietly funding his cultivation and promoting his experiments was the Great Sage.

There was a moment of silence in the private room.

Griffith remained silent for a long time.

He looked at Lin Gui as if he were re-evaluating the young man before him.

"How do you know so much?"

His voice was a little hoarse.

"Morgan...why did you tell me everything?"

Lin Gui glanced at the old man helplessly.

He saved the half-demon city, killed all the hunting enemies, and even tricked and killed one of the hidden tower masters.

What else will Morgan keep from him?

However, judging from Griffith and Freya's expressions, he roughly knew why they had called him over.
