Hello, is this a letter addressed to Demon Fortress?
Chapter 462, Part 2: The Lord of Avalon
On the other side, to the west of the barren wasteland.
In a daze, Elvia woke up from her bed.
She felt like she had slept for a long time, her body felt light and airy, as if she were floating on water.
She closed her eyes and reached out to touch the sheets beneath her.
Silky, smooth, soft, with a faint smoky scent.
She gave a satisfied hum and rolled over.
Then, she opened her eyes.
In view, there was withered yellow grass, exposed rocks, and a gray sky.
The wind blew across her face, carrying the dryness and dusty smell unique to the wasteland.
Elvia paused for a moment.
She blinked, then blinked again.
The bed was still the same bed, with silk sheets, soft pillows, and a thick quilt.
But all around the bed was a wasteland.
Dead trees, rubble, a dried-up riverbed, stretching as far as the eye can see.
Elvia looked completely bewildered.
Just then, a sweet voice rang out from the side.
"Your Highness, please try this."
A slender hand handed over a wine glass.
The glass is made of transparent crystal and contains a dark red liquid that gleams with an amber luster in the sunlight.
Elvia instinctively took the wine glass.
She skillfully crossed her long legs, brought the wine glass to her lips, and took a small sip.
It's fruit juice.
It's cool, sweet and sour, with a hint of mint.
It tastes great.
Her brows relaxed, and she took another sip.
A cool breeze blew in from the side, brushing against her cheeks and neck, taking away some of the heat.
Another female voice rang out.
"Your Highness, how's the wind? Should we push it harder?"
The voice was soft, with a hint of cautious flattery.
Elvia squinted, enjoying the perfectly cool breeze.
"Push harder."
She said it casually.
The wind did indeed pick up a bit.
The withered grass was blown flat by the wind, and her golden hair fluttered in the breeze.
Elvia nodded in satisfaction.
Another female voice came from beside her feet.
"Would you like me to give you a foot massage?"
The voice carried a hint of shyness, but also a passionate desire to repay the favor.
"I worked as a masseur in Qianta for a while and gave massages to many nobles."
Elvia gave a soft hum and pulled her feet further under the covers.
"Need not."
Her voice was languid, carrying a sense of self-righteous arrogance.
"Only I can touch my precious, delicate, and tender skin."
She paused for a moment, then slightly lifted her eyelids.
"And that bastard."
"kindness?"
"What a scoundrel?"
A black-haired figure appeared in her mind.
Elvia's brows furrowed sharply.
wrong.
Isn't she following that scoundrel in recruiting half-demons?
It shouldn't be in Deadwood Town, so why is it here?
And it's been almost half a year since King Carter died, so why are people still calling her a princess?
Elvia suddenly opened her eyes.
Everything in my field of vision became completely clear.
She saw a bed being carried by four half-demon warriors.
Around the bed was a densely packed procession of half-demons—the elderly, children, women, and the wounded, numbering in the thousands, forming a long line as they slowly moved across the wasteland.
Before her, a half-demon girl knelt.
The girl looked to be about fifteen or sixteen years old. She was thin, with a pale face, but her eyes were very bright.
She held a crystal tray in her hands, on which were a wine glass and a plate of delicate pastries.
Beside the girl, two half-demon girls were kneeling.
A person was holding a fan woven from withered grass and fanning vigorously in the direction of Elvia.
In the other hand, he held a ceramic jar, steam rising from its mouth, its contents unknown.
The three girls were all dressed in coarse cloth clothes, patched up, but very clean.
Their faces bore an almost pious reverence.
Elvia was stunned.
She looked around.
Ahead, the ranks of half-demons stretched far into the distance, with no end in sight.
The same was true behind them; a dense mass of heads stretched out like a winding river.
She looked down at the bed beneath her.
Silk sheets, soft pillows, thick quilts.
The bed was carried steadily on the shoulders of four half-demon warriors, who were bare-chested with thick cloths on their shoulders, and their steps were in unison.
Elvia's lips twitched.
"Who the hell are you guys?"
Her voice rose several octaves, carrying an uncontrollable sense of absurdity and irritation.
"What the hell am I doing here?"
The half-demon girl carrying the tray quickly lowered her head and spoke softly.
"We are the half-demon warriors that the mage guy saved."
"This is the western side of the barren wasteland."
Elvia's brow furrowed even more.
"The west side? How did we end up on the west side?"
Before the girls could finish speaking, a familiar voice rang out from the side.
"It was Master Lin Gui who instructed us to go west."
Eileen walked over from the side of the group, her black hair fluttering in the wind.
Her face was still pale, but much better than before.
He held the simple staff in his hand, his robes covered in dust.
"Go west?"
Elvia was stunned.
Why?
Eileen remained silent for a moment.
"You'll have to ask him yourself. Just now, he returned with other legendary half-demons."
"They're up ahead, discussing the future of half-demons."
"He said, if you wake up, let me take you to him."
Eileen handed over Elvia's knight's boots.
Elvia took the boots, bent down, put them on, and tightened the laces.
The soles of my boots made a soft, rustling sound as they stepped on the dry grass.
She stood up and followed Eileen forward.
They passed through the densely packed ranks of half-demons, and through the grateful, curious, and awe-inspiring gazes directed their way.
Ahead, a group of powerful, high-ranking warriors formed a circle, like a human wall, separating the space inside from the outside world.
The soldiers wore tattered leather armor, weapons hung at their waists, and their blood-red eyes warily scanned their surroundings.
Their aura was sharp yet steady; each of them was a veteran who had experienced countless life-or-death battles.
Elvia walked up to them.
The superhuman warriors made way for Elvia when they saw her.
The crowd parted to both sides like water being split open, revealing the space inside.
Elvia stepped inside.
Then, she froze.
Several sharp gazes fell on her at the same time.
Those gazes were like knives, stabbing at her from different directions, scraping across her face, her neck, and her entire body.
A chill ran down her back, and the hairs on her back stood on end.
On the left, a female half-demon with gray hair leaned against a grain sack, staring at her with her eyes half-open.
On the right, a half-demon man covered in scars sat cross-legged on a wooden board, his hands resting on his knees, his left arm in a sling.
Directly ahead, a knight in tattered armor leaned against the edge of the raft, arms crossed, his gaze steady.
Their presence weighed on Elvia like a mountain.
Elvia felt a tightness in her chest and a dryness in her throat.
Her hands unconsciously clenched the hem of her clothes, her knuckles turning white.
Three legends.......
Do not......
It's 5 digits...
Elvia's gaze swept over the three faces, her heart pounding like a drum.
Then, she saw the fourth person in the corner.
It was an extremely inconspicuous half-demon, wearing drab gray leather armor, crouching in the shadow of the grain sack.
If he hadn't moved slightly, Elvia wouldn't have even noticed his presence.
He raised his head and glanced at Elvia with his blood-red eyes.
There was no hostility or scrutiny in those eyes; instead, they carried a faint hint of goodwill.
He nodded slightly, as if in greeting.
Then he lowered his head again and disappeared back into the shadows.
Legendary assassin.
Elvia felt a chill run down her spine.
Her gaze shifted to the person opposite Lin Gui.
Morgan sat there, her short, silvery-white hair fluttering slightly in the wind.
He saw Elvia, a slight smile playing on his lips, and nodded in return.
The smile was faint, but it carried the gentle warmth of an elder looking at a younger person.
Elvia's chest relaxed slightly.
She took a deep breath, suppressed the surging emotions in her chest, and strode towards Lin Gui.
The boots made a dull thud as they stepped on the wooden planks.
Her back was ramrod straight, her chin slightly raised, and her golden eyes calmly swept over everyone present.
Five steps.
Three steps.
step.
She walked over to Lin Gui and stood still.
Lin Gui raised his head and looked at her.
A hint of a smile played in his dark eyes.
Then he put down his charcoal pencil, stood up, and faced the legendary half-demons.
Let me introduce myself.
His voice wasn't loud, but every word was clear.
He raised his hand and pointed to the gray-haired female half-demon leaning against the grain sack on his left.
"Lia, a legendary low-ranking assassin."
Lia nodded slightly, her blood-red eyes sweeping over Elvia before looking away.
Lin Gui pointed to the half-demon man covered in scars on his right.
"Cedric, a legendary lower-ranking assassin."
Cedric looked at Elvia, remained silent for a moment, and then nodded.
Lin Gui pointed to the knight in tattered armor directly in front of him.
"Hewlett Grant, a legendary lower-ranking knight, formerly a member of the Silver Hand Knights of Dawn City."
Hewlett looked at Elvia with a steady gaze and nodded slightly.
Lin Gui pointed to the almost invisible figure in the corner.
"Freeman, a legendary low-ranking assassin."
The person in the shadows raised a hand as a greeting, then disappeared again.
Finally, Lin Gui pointed to the person opposite him.
"Morgan Adrian, a legendary mid-level mage and leader of half-demons."
Morgan stood up, bowed slightly to Elvia, and performed a mage's salute.
"Thanks to you for defeating Arthur, we now have the means to make a deal, Miss Elvia. Thank you."
Elvia nodded.
Lin Gui turned around and faced the legendary half-demons.
"As for her."
His voice was still not loud, but it carried a firm and unquestionable composure.
"She is my love."
Elvia's face turned red instantly.
The burning sensation started from the neck and continued down to the earlobes, then spread to the forehead.
Lin Gui continued.
"He is also the lord of the second Avalon that I am about to build, and his former leader."
Elvia's mind went blank.
She looked at Lin Gui's profile, at his calm, matter-of-fact expression.
The Second Avalon?
City Lord?
Leader?
What the hell was that before?
she?
Her lips twitched, and a voice squeezed out from her throat, carrying an uncontrollable absurdity.
"what?"
