The road to the magic tower is heavily guarded.

He wore full silver armor with the emblem of the magic guild engraved on his chest.

He stood ramrod straight, his aura sharp and commanding.

But when they saw Freya, they all stepped aside.

Bow your head and pay your respects.

Their movements were synchronized and uniform.

Freya nodded slightly, without stopping.

Lin Gui followed behind her.

Just as they passed through the last corridor, a group of people came from the direction of the magic tower.

Freya raised her head.

When she saw the group of people clearly, her expression instantly turned serious.

She reached out and shielded Lin Gui behind her.

Step back to one side of the corridor, turn slightly to make way.

Lin Gui raised his head and his gaze fell on the group of people.

Four people.

Leading the way was an elderly man wearing a dark purple robe.

His beard and hair were all white, and his face was thin.

He wore the emblem of the Magic Guild on his chest, the star on the emblem edged with three gold stripes.

That's the mark of a legendary high-ranking mage.

He was followed by two men wearing dark leather armor.

He was thin and his footsteps were silent.

His aura was completely concealed, yet it still exuded a hint of coldness.

Legendary mid-rank assassin.

Among these three legends is a young man.

He looks to be in his early twenties.

He was wearing an exquisite dark-colored mage robe, made of excellent material and tailored to fit perfectly.

But there were no badges on his chest.

His strength is only at the lower level of the high rank.

Lin Gui's Netherworld Eyes silently activated.

Deep within the gray pupils, four flames of souls were reflected.

Two bulges, cold and sharp as knives; one bulge, deep and unfathomable as an abyss.

There was also a faint flame, like a candle.

His gaze fell on the young man's position.

Being sandwiched between three legends is not protection, but rather being surrounded.

The two legendary assassins were slightly behind by half a step.

Although the legendary old man who had risen to power was walking at the front, he would occasionally turn his head to the side, as if to check on the young man's condition.

Their posture, their eyes, and the rhythm of their steps all conveyed the same message.

This young man, who was in a high-ranking but low-ranking position, held a very high status.

The four people walked over from the magic tower and naturally saw Freya stepping aside to make way for them.

Although she gave way, Freya did not show humility or fear.

She stood ramrod straight, her gaze fixed on the group.

Her long, icy blue hair cascaded over her shoulders, and there was no hesitation in her deep blue eyes.

Those people also saw her, but only glanced at her briefly before looking away.

Their steps did not stop.

Just as the two groups were about to pass each other, the young man who was surrounded in the middle stopped in his tracks.

His gaze had initially been casually sweeping across both sides of the corridor.

His gaze swept over Freya, and then over the forest ghost behind her.

Then he stopped.

He turned his head and his gaze fell directly on Lin Gui.

I'm not here to see Freya, I'm here to see Lin Gui.

The young man's strange behavior surprised everyone.

The three legends also stopped and followed his gaze to the young man behind Freya.

He was dressed casually, with black hair and black eyes.

High-level magical fluctuations.

The young man stared at Lin Gui, his gaze lingering on his black hair for a moment before settling on his black eyes.

Then he spoke.

"You're...from the Ashley family?"

Lin Gui was taken aback.

The Ashley family, that magical family where everyone has black hair.

I remember that Elvia had him impersonate this family at the auction.

He didn't know what the other party meant by suddenly bringing this up.

Freya frowned and spoke first.

He is not.

"The Ashley family has been under your forced surveillance in the City of a Thousand Towers ever since that incident."

"He's just naturally black-haired and black-eyed."

Her voice was cold.

One of the legendary mid-ranking assassins curled his lips into a mocking smile.

"What if this is someone's illegitimate child born out of wedlock?"

His gaze swept over Lin Gui, carrying a condescending, predatory air.

"alright."

A deep voice rang out.

It was that legendary old man who rose to power.

His tone was calm, but carried an undeniable urgency.

"Time is of the essence, that thing is about to arrive."

He paused for a moment.

"If we fail to complete the mission, we'll all be in deep trouble."

The assassin shrugged and said to the old man.

"Lord Edwin, you are being too cautious."

Then he looked away.

"With Arthur here this time, what's there to be afraid of?"

He patted the young man on the shoulder, his tone relaxed, even slightly teasing.

"Right, Arthur?"

The young man named Arthur did not respond.

His gaze remained fixed on Lin Gui, as if he were identifying something, or confirming something.

After a few seconds, he looked away.

Then he turned around and followed the three legends as they continued walking out.

Their footsteps faded into the distance in the corridor until they disappeared completely at the end of the corridor.

Lin Gui looked in the direction they disappeared, then turned to look at Freya.

"Who are they?"

Freya remained silent.

Her expression was somewhat unpleasant, as if she had thought of something unforgettable and embarrassing.

It took her a long time to speak.

The voice was very soft, with a hint of barely perceptible stiffness.

Knowing too much won't do you any good.

"It could even lead to death."

She turned to look at Lin Gui, her deep blue eyes filled with a serious, warning expression.

"You can delve deeper into the study of magic."

"But for high-ranking mages..."

She paused for a moment.

"If you can stay away from it, then stay away from it."

After saying that, she turned around and continued walking towards the magic tower.

Lin Gui watched her retreating figure.

Her long, ice-blue hair gleamed coldly under the light of the magic stone.

Her pace quickened slightly, as if she were fleeing something.
