Hello, is this a letter addressed to Demon Fortress?
Chapter 357 Disparity
Lin Gui didn't wait long outside the guild.
Monica then came out with her group members.
Ada and old Tom were carrying several bulging bags filled with the corpses of the demon rats.
Lily walked at the very back, a smile on her face, but her eyes were red, as if she had just been crying.
Monica walked up to Lin Gui and took a deep breath.
"We can begin."
Lin Gui nodded and straightened up, leaning on his staff.
Monica raised her staff and began to chant.
The chanting took a very long time, a full five minutes, before blue light emanated from the staff.
Azure light gathered at the tip of the staff, and magical energy rippled through the air.
Advanced healing magic – hydrotherapy.
Pale blue water flowed from the tip of the staff, wrapping around the forest ghost.
Warm and gentle, like soaking in warm water.
Lin Gui could feel the water seeping into his skin, into his muscles, and into his broken bones.
The wound is itchy, and the bone is healing.
But the hydrotherapy treatment was soon stopped.
Monica put down her staff, her face pale and her forehead covered in sweat.
Her magic was depleted.
Lin Gui took out a bottle of magic recovery potion from his storage space and handed it to her.
Monica took it, hesitated for a moment, then opened it and took a sip.
That thing wasn't cheap; for Monica and the others, it was already considered an expensive consumable.
She rested for a while, then raised her staff again.
Monica cast the spell three times in one afternoon.
Each session was short-lived and far less effective than Eve's healing techniques.
Fortunately, Lin Gui's severed left arm and ribs have been reattached.
Although it still hurts and I can't exert myself, at least I don't have to use a cane to walk anymore.
It will take quite some time to fully recover.
Monica put away her staff and said, panting:
"I will continue to treat you over the next few days."
"Until the seventh day."
Lin Gui nodded.
Seven days later, she will leave with that golden adventure team.
Lin Gui glanced at Ada and Old Tom behind her.
Both of them had smiles on their faces, but beneath those smiles lay something indescribable.
Lily stood at the very back, head down, not saying a word.
Monica is leaving.
Even if she returns from her studies in the magical city, she will still join that golden adventurer group.
The Thousand Pagodas Guild will disband soon.
Lin Gui didn't say anything, just nodded, said "thank you," and turned to leave.
As dusk fell.
Lin Gui bid farewell to Monica and her group and, as Elvia had instructed, went to find the most luxurious inn in Dragonbone City.
It's said to be the most luxurious, but it's really just so-so.
A three-story stone building with a gilded sign hanging at the entrance that reads "Dragon Bone Inn".
The steps at the entrance were swept clean, and two magic stone lamps emitted a warm yellow light.
Pushing open the door, the interior decoration looked better than the outside.
The floor was covered with a dark red carpet, and several landscape paintings by unknown artists hung on the walls. Behind the counter stood a well-dressed servant.
Upon seeing Lin Gui enter, the servant sized him up.
That gaze swept over his tattered robes and the wounds all over his body.
But he quickly withdrew his smile and put on a professional one.
"Excuse me, are you Mr. Lin Gui?"
Clearly, Elvia had given him instructions beforehand.
Lin Gui nodded.
"Your room is on the top floor, please follow me."
The servant led Lin Gui up to the third floor and stopped in front of the innermost room, taking out a key to open the door.
The room wasn't big, but it was very clean.
The floor was covered with a thick carpet, which felt soft and fluffy underfoot.
Against the wall was a large bed with clean white bedding, neatly folded.
There were two bottles of water and a plate of fruit on the bedside table.
There was a desk in the corner with ink and a quill pen on it.
The window was large, almost taking up the entire wall, and with the curtains drawn, one could see the street outside and the distant Dragonbone Mountains.
What surprised Lin Gui the most was that there was a separate bathroom in the room.
He glanced inside and saw a large wooden tub with firewood piled up next to it, clearly for boiling water.
In a small place like Dragonbone City, this is already considered top-of-the-line.
Lin Gui's gaze swept across the room, finally landing on the balcony.
Elvia sat there.
She leaned back in her chair, crossed her legs, and gazed into the distance.
The moonlight shone on her, giving her golden hair a silvery-white glow.
She was still wearing that village woman's outfit.
The drab, coarse cloth clothes looked out of place in this fairly well-decorated room.
But her expression was quieter than anything else in the room.
She stared blankly into the distance, at Dragonbone City bathed in moonlight.
A faint trace of melancholy lingered on that exquisitely beautiful face.
Lin Gui walked over and sat down on the chair next to him.
He glanced at the clothes Elvia was wearing.
"Didn't you say you wanted to change your clothes?"
Elvia didn't turn around, her voice was indifferent.
"The room rate is too expensive."
Lin Gui was taken aback.
Elvia then turned her head to look at him, a hint of resentment on her face.
"I originally wanted to buy some clothes, but when I asked about the room rate, it was 2 gold coins a day."
"I only had five gold coins left, and after staying in a hotel for two days, I only have one left."
"Where would we get the money to buy clothes?"
Her tone was full of resentment.
"I wouldn't even glance at this wretched place if it were in the capital."
"Two gold coins a day? I think even two silver coins are too expensive."
Lin Gui couldn't help but laugh when he saw her like that.
Is this still the same seventh princess who casually throws money around in the capital?
He can buy clothes for tens of thousands of gold coins without batting an eye.
I'm really agonizing over the cost of a room that costs just two gold coins.
He couldn't help but speak:
"Seventh Princess, isn't this a huge drop in your expectations?"
"You used to spend tens of thousands of gold coins like it was nothing, but now you feel the pinch even for two gold coins?"
He thought Elvia would, as always, haughtily retort to him.
They say that people live to enjoy life.
The more money you spend, the higher your status is, and so on.
But Elvia did not.
She simply leaned back in her chair, gazing at the distant moonlight, and sighed softly.
"Yes, the difference is huge."
Her voice was very soft, as soft as the wind.
Lin Gui paused for a moment, then looked at her.
The moonlight shone on her face, on that exquisitely beautiful face.
There was no arrogance, no cunning, and no shrewdness to scheme.
She seemed very lonely.
