Inside the post office, however, the scene was quite different.

This was thanks to the goodwill the three of them had built up over the course of the week.

Many pieces of furniture and everyday items require no effort from them.

Back when this small building had just been built.

Then some enthusiastic residents rushed in carrying "unused items from their homes".

Without a word, they pushed aside the somewhat embarrassed Xia and arranged the items one by one.

They said, "It's just sitting there anyway."

But every item was wiped clean and well preserved.

Shia's fingers gently traced the shape of an exquisitely carved elven-style round table, her eyes slightly warming.

"It's been too long..."

Her voice was very soft, almost like a sigh.

"It's been so long since anyone... has been this nice to me."

She spoke softly, her voice slightly choked.

Then, he glanced at Lin Gui beside him.

There was a hint of deliberate resentment in his eyes:

"Unlike someone else."

"I've been with him for so long, and he's never even given me a single gift."

Lin Gui reached out and gently stroked the edge of the table.

Hearing this, he smiled helplessly.

Eve watched his smile from the side.

She couldn't help but slightly curl the corners of her mouth into a smile.

Perhaps Shia didn't notice.

But Eve noticed.

Lin Gui's condition this week... is very different.

In any city-state outside, even the friendly city of Shield.

Lin Gui always carried a subtle sense of urgency and estrangement.

Like a perpetually alert nocturnal animal.

But here, in Avalon.

But he relaxed.

It felt like... returning to my hometown.

What Eve didn't know was...

For Lin Gui, this place truly felt like "home".

There was an atmosphere of equality, without the glaring divide between the rich and the poor.

There is no omnipresent calculation of interests or exploitation for survival.

That long-lost tranquility, belonging to "everyday life".

This allowed him to briefly... lower his guard.

However, this excessive enthusiasm made Lin Gui somewhat uncomfortable.

In other respects, it really felt like returning to my hometown.

It's not the New Testament City that crawled out of the garbage dump.

Rather, it's my memory... my home planet, Blue Star.

Who could have imagined the tranquility of my hometown, so ordinary it was almost boring?

In Akara, it became an Eden-like dream.

Is this some kind of otherworldly version of Shangri-La?

Lin Gui chuckled to himself.

Shea led him and Eve up to the second floor.

In the corridor, several wooden doors are lined up in a row.

A sign that read "Lin Gui" was hanging on a door.

Across the street is Shea's room.

To Shea's right is Eve's room.

What surprised Lin Gui the most was—

He actually saw the sign for "Elvia".

She seemed to notice his surprised gaze.

Shia coughed lightly, her gaze drifting elsewhere:

"I was thinking... just in case that cowardly princess comes to visit someday."

"It'll give her a place to rest."

Under Lin Gui's increasingly strange gaze.

Shia reached out and nudged his back, speaking rapidly:

"Well, let's see your room first!"

After saying that, she gently pushed Lin Gui inside the door.

He then leaned in halfway, raising his index finger:

"Eve and I have some girly secrets to talk about."

"Don't eavesdrop!"

Then, a soft "click" sounded.

The door was closed.

Lin Gui had no idea what "whispers" Xia and Eve were going to have.

But every time he wasn't paying attention, their relationship would mysteriously heat up.

He wasn't a girl, so he didn't understand the reason and wasn't particularly interested in investigating it.

Taking advantage of a moment of solitude, a thought stirred within him.

I took out all the items from the storage space one by one.

I started sorting and organizing in preparation for my upcoming departure.

Those belonging to Shia were set aside by him.

Several wooden crates contained some rather unusual items—

There are enough frozen and well-preserved meats to last for a while.

Stacks of romance novels with flashy covers, which were Xia's favorites.

There was also her secretly kept little treasure chest, filled with the "spoils" she had collected along the way.

Lin Gui planned to leave all of these to her.

Avalon is a wonderful place, but it's a small, isolated town.

Supplies... are extremely scarce.

This week of wandering around made him truly understand what Elvia had once said—

"Rich yet poor".

There is no shortage of food and vegetables, but entertainment is almost non-existent.

The economy has even degenerated to the stage of bartering.

This shows how limited the variety of supplies was.

He carefully placed Shia's things into the wooden box.

When it was their turn to receive their own items, they found that there weren't many.

All the replies awaiting delivery are stored in the city of Strong Shield.

All that was left around him were tents, sleeping bags, basic medicines, and dry rations necessary for wilderness survival.

They couldn't even fill one wooden crate.

Lin Gui straightened up and looked around the room that Xia had specially arranged for him.

It was clean and tidy, but it seemed... somewhat empty.

and so.

He doesn't have much to offer that makes him worth staying here.

Before long, when Morpheus and his men couldn't wait any longer and came looking for them...

He should say goodbye to Shia and get back on his way.

As Lin Gui was organizing supplies, a noisy commotion suddenly came from outside the window.

He got up, opened the window, and looked down.

The open space in front of the post office had been filled with people.

Men, women, young and old, of different races, all craned their necks to peer inside.

It seems the news has already spread.

He closed the window and turned to walk towards the door.

Just opened the door—

Directly opposite, the doors to Shea and Eve's rooms also happened to open.

The three of them met briefly.

Shea was clearly taken aback.

Immediately, a look of guilt flashed across his face.

Her eyes were unfocused, and the tips of her ears were slightly red.

She immediately fixed her sharp gaze on Lin Gui and spoke first:

"You...you didn't secretly come here to eavesdrop, did you?"

The question was laced with bluster.

Lin Gui was somewhat puzzled by her question:

"So what exactly were you whispering about?"

"What makes you so wary of me?"

Hearing his question, Shia seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.

He then snorted and turned his face away.

"This is a secret among beautiful girls."

Stop asking questions.

Lin Gui didn't bother to investigate further, rolled his eyes, and turned to walk towards the stairs.

Just took two steps—

A slight chill suddenly swept across the back of his neck.

It felt like being gently brushed by something invisible.

Lin Gui paused, then suddenly turned around.

His gaze pierced straight at Shia, who was still standing in the same spot.

Xia felt a chill run down her spine from his gaze, and cold sweat broke out on her scalp instantly.

"Cough, cough!"

She coughed a few times, her eyes darting around:

"Um... why are you looking at me like that?"

Lin Gui raised an eyebrow slightly.

He did indeed sense a fleeting "threat" from behind.

His gaze slowly moved down from Shia's slightly guilty face.

It fell onto her hands.

Shia suddenly put her hands behind her back.

At the same time, he tilted his head and whistled awkwardly.

Seeing the growing suspicion in Lin Gui's eyes.

Eve coughed lightly, interrupting him in a slightly stiff tone:

"Um... I see the residents outside have been waiting for a long time."

"Let's hurry down and open the door to welcome our guests."

Hia nodded repeatedly, feeling as if she had been granted a pardon.

He grabbed Lin Gui's shoulders with both hands and pushed him toward the stairs:

"Yes, yes, yes! Come downstairs quickly!"

"Don't keep the guests waiting."

"After you've collected Avalon's letter, aren't you going to send back all the letters you receive along the way?"

"Time is tight, the task is heavy, let's hurry!"

That's what I'm saying, but why does it sound so strange coming from you, Shia?

It was as if they wanted me to leave quickly.

Lin Gui felt strange, but Xia had always been his companion.

should.......

I hope they won't do anything to me...
