The air in Beijing's elite private primary schools is filled not only with the fragrance of books, but also with various invisible identity labels and precocious little rivalries.

Our "protagonist," Zeng Linglong, calls himself the "boss" in this little world!

He is always surrounded by a few sycophantic "followers" from slightly less privileged backgrounds, forming a childish army called "Brother Long is Mighty".

During the break between classes that day, a piece of news, like a pebble dropped into water, stirred up ripples within the "Special Forces."

The news came from Chen Yifeng, the young prince of the Chen family, who was only a teenager but was known as an "elegant little madman".

Maintaining an invisible "gentlemanly demeanor," Chen Yifeng slowly remarked to Zeng Linglong with "admiration":

"Linglong, sigh, there's something I'm not sure if I should say..." He hesitated, his expression perfectly controlled, as if he truly had something difficult to say.

Zeng Linglong was most susceptible to this kind of behavior and immediately adopted a bossy attitude: "Tell me! Is there anything in Beijing that I can't handle?"

Chen Yifeng lowered his voice, as if sharing top-secret information:

"I think I just overheard your future brother-in-law, Yan Hai, saying something to someone over there..."

"He said he doesn't acknowledge you as his brother-in-law at all, and that you're just a..."

"Sigh, relying on the good-for-nothings who run rampant in their family, they're nothing without the Zeng family."

He paused, then "kindly" added, "Of course, it's also possible that I misheard."

These words were like a match precisely thrown into a powder keg, instantly igniting Zeng Linglong's anger.

He didn't hear the second half of the sentence, "maybe I misheard," his mind was filled with the words "disowns brother-in-law," "good-for-nothing," and "nothing without the Zeng family."

He immediately felt utterly humiliated, especially in front of his "underling".

That Yan Hai, usually he's like a taciturn person, I would avoid him whenever I see him and never play with him, I never expected that he would think this way behind my back!

"Good heavens! Yan Hai, that traitorous brat!" Zeng Linglong was so angry his nose almost twisted. "He dares to talk about me behind my back? I'll teach him a lesson!"

He didn't even consider verifying it or thinking about why Chen Yifeng "just happened" to hear it and "just happened" to tell him.

His brain's processing system has only a straight line between "anger" and "action," bypassing the complex CPU of "thinking."

So, after school, a surprise attack, which could be described as a "dimensional reduction attack," unfolded in the alley outside the school.

Zeng Linglong, along with his "left and right protectors," blocked Yan Hai, who was alone.

"Yan Hai! You've got some nerve! You dare to talk bad about me?" Zeng Linglong said aggressively, his opening remarks blunt and lacking any finesse.

Yan Hai was completely bewildered. He was a strong-willed person and not at all sensitive about his future brother-in-law.

"Are you crazy? When did I ever say that?"

"Still trying to argue! Chen Yifeng heard everything! Beat him up!" Zeng Linglong waved his hand, fully demonstrating the "fine" tradition of "the boss only talks, never acts".

Several lackeys, eager to show off, swarmed forward.

The scene was quite "intense" at one point—if one-sided pushing, snatching of schoolbags, and throwing someone's carefully organized homework into a nearby puddle can be considered intense.

Zeng Linglong stood by with his arms crossed, "supervising" from the side, occasionally giving instructions: "That's right! Get his pants dirty! Let him go home and get scolded!" (His thought process is quite unique).

Poor Yan Hai, no match for so many opponents, was quickly beaten up, his school uniform was dirty, his hair was messy, and his eyes were red, but he stubbornly refused to cry. He just glared angrily at Zeng Linglong.

Just as this "victory" was about to reach its climax, and Zeng Linglong was preparing to step forward for the final "judgment," a woman's voice, trembling with sobs and filled with anger, rang out:

"Zeng Linglong! What are you doing?!"

The person who arrived was Yan Rugo, who had rushed over upon hearing the news.

Looking at her younger brother's disheveled appearance, and then at the arrogant Zeng Linglong and his accomplices, the little girl trembled with anger.

She rushed over to protect her younger brother, like a little lioness who had been provoked.

"You... what right do you have to hit Xiao Hai!" Yan Ruge's voice trembled, and after learning some of the reason, her eyes showed an unprecedented determination:

"He would never speak ill of anyone! You'd rather believe everyone without even asking? You've disappointed me so much!"

Zeng Linglong was caught red-handed, paused for a second, and then made a blatant attempt to justify himself:

"He deserved it! Who told him to talk bad about me behind my back! Chen Yifeng heard it with his own ears!"

"Chen Yifeng?" Yan Ruge was obviously aware of the young prince's reputation. Looking at Zeng Linglong's "I'm right, I'm in the right" attitude, a deep sense of powerlessness and disappointment welled up in her heart.

She took her brother's hand and looked at Zeng Linglong one last time. Her eyes were incredibly complex, filled with anger, sadness, and a hint of determination.

"Zeng Linglong," her voice calmed, yet struck like a hammer blow, "Don't ever contact me again. We... should never see each other again."

After saying that, she turned and left with her younger brother, leaving behind a resolute silhouette.

Zeng Linglong stood there, still not fully processing what "never see each other again" meant.

He felt that he was clearly on the "side of justice," so how did he suddenly seem to have become the bad guy?

The news flew back to both compounds as if it had grown wings.

The Yan family was naturally furious. Old Master Yan was so angry that his beard stood on end, and he was about to call Old Master Zeng on the spot to "have a word with him."

Yan Hai is the beloved grandson of his family, yet he was bullied like this by his future brother-in-law!

The atmosphere in the Zeng family's living room was so oppressive it could be squeezed out of you.

Grandpa Zeng's face was ashen, and he slammed his cane heavily on the ground.

"Tell me! Why did you fight again! And it was Yan Hai you beat up!"

Zeng Sheng's face turned ashen: "You bastard! Yan Hai is your future brother-in-law! How could you do this?!"

Zeng Linglong, his neck stiff with resentment, still felt wronged, believing himself to be even more unjustly accused than Dou E.

"I did nothing wrong! It was Yan Hai who spoke ill of me! Chen Yifeng heard it with his own ears! Chen Yifeng wouldn't lie to me!"

He logically and clearly (in his own opinion) repeated Chen Yifeng's words, as if he had grasped some supreme truth.

Upon hearing this, Grandpa Zeng and Zeng Sheng exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with helplessness, disappointment, and a sense of absurdity that "this kid is hopeless."

Grandpa Zeng took a deep breath, trying to make his tone sound less like he wanted to punch someone:

"Chen Yifeng? That kid from the Chen family? Can you believe what he says?"

"The Chen family has never gotten along with our Zeng and Yan families!"

"He's using you as a pawn! He wants you to offend the Yan family so he can laugh at us! Is your brain just for show?!"

Unfortunately, this introductory political lesson was too profound for Zeng Linglong.

He remained immersed in his own logic:

"Impossible! Chen Yifeng and I are good friends! He said I'm his buddy! He would never lie to me!"

His stubbornness, his willingness to be sold out while still happily helping the seller count the money, and his firm belief that the person who sold him out was an honest businessman completely extinguished Old Master Zeng's temper.

He waved wearily, too lazy to even fight anymore.

Zeng Sheng was so angry that his chest felt tight. He pointed at his son and, after a long pause, managed to utter:

"You...you really...paid a huge 'stupidity tax'!"

He Jing stood to the side, wanting to protect him but not daring to.

Looking at her son's foolish and oblivious expression.

Then I remembered Yan Rugo's disappointed and resolute eyes!

That stabbing sensation in my heart returned, more intense than ever before.

She had a vague feeling that something precious was about to be lost.

Zeng Linglong, however, was still feeling aggrieved:

"I was the one who was badmouthed, so how did it all end up being his fault?"

"Is there any reason left in this world?"

He felt he was the most wronged "brother-in-law" in history.
