My absurd experiences in North America over the years
Chapter 71 Together
"Is everything resolved?" Lucy greeted Li Fu as he came downstairs; she had just seen the two FBI agents drive away.
"Yes," Li Fu nodded.
Lucy smiled upon hearing this, as if she were resolving her own problem.
Now she can finally put her mind at ease.
However, she still appeared relatively restrained.
The two traveled by car to a resort hotel located in the suburbs.
It was almost noon when they parked their car downstairs at the resort hotel.
Sunlight slanted in from the direction of the artificial lake, turning the gray-white exterior of the entire building into a warm gold.
The fountain's water jets shattered into countless tiny diamonds under the sunlight, making a soft, tinkling sound as they fell back onto the water's surface.
They walked side by side toward the side entrance of the hotel.
However, unlike in Los Angeles, they didn't walk hand in hand or shoulder to shoulder; there was an arm's length between them.
The elevator reached the sixth floor, and the doors opened.
The corridor remained quiet, the carpet absorbing all footsteps.
Lucy walked ahead, took out her room card from her coat pocket, swiped it to open the last room, but instead of going in first, she turned to the side, leaned against the door frame, and looked at Li Fu.
"Pack your things, I'll find you another place to stay."
The entire hotel was very quiet.
The balcony window was open, and the wind blew in, making the curtains billow.
Li Fu took out his backpack and began to pack it up.
He didn't have much luggage to begin with.
Lucy didn't help. She stood by the window, her back to him, her hands in her coat pockets, looking at the lake outside.
The sunlight shone on her golden hair, giving it a soft glow, like an oil painting that hadn't quite dried yet.
"Are you done tidying up?" She turned around when she heard the sound of a zipper being pulled up.
"Yeah, I didn't bring much with me."
Li Fu responded with a smile.
Their eyes met.
That one glance seemed to release all the emotions that the two of them had been deliberately suppressing for the past few days.
A gust of wind rushed in through the window, blowing Lucy's hair around.
She reached up and touched her forehead, her fingertips brushing across it to reveal a small section of her bright white forehead.
Her lips parted slightly, as if she wanted to say something, but no sound came out.
Li Fu had already walked up to her, and gently stroked her long hair with his fingers, reluctant to let go for a long time.
Lucy's eyes were slightly closed, and her breathing tightened.
"Li...we've finally met again..."
She had been holding these words in for many days, and had been very tense because she wanted to persuade her brother.
Ask him to help her lover solve external troubles.
Now she has no worries.
Li Fu bent down and kissed her forehead, then her red lips.
He kissed her lightly, unlike before when he would kiss her recklessly in the car. Instead, he carefully traced the shape of her lips, as if recognizing a beloved object he hadn't seen in a long time.
His large palms gently caressed her from her hair to her cheeks.
Lucy's fingers gripped the front of his suit jacket, her knuckles turning white. She seemed to be pushing him away, but in reality, she was pulling him closer.
Her long eyelashes trembled slightly, like a butterfly being blown by the wind.
This day... she had waited too long for.
While everyone thought she had let go, only she knew that she deserved every loss and recovery.
Because she was deeply affectionate and persistent.
No one knew better than her that even with her enviable background and glory, she would likely never meet someone willing to go through fire and water for her again in her long life ahead.
Moreover, that person was so compatible with me.
Therefore, she will never give up easily.
Li Fu's kiss was passionate and lingering.
At first, Lucy passively accepted it, but slowly she began to stand on tiptoe, wrap her arms around his neck, and respond passionately.
Once she begins to respond, all her emotions erupt instantly, like a flood breaking through a river dam.
Urgent, impatient, and unstoppable.
The wind continued to pour in from the balcony, blowing the curtains even higher.
The indoor light flickered with the rise and fall of the curtains, like an edited montage in an old movie, dancing and shimmering with the breeze, casting the shadows of the couple onto the wall not far away.
They were completely immersed in each other's world.
Forget everything that exists.
The curtains, like a giant sail, billowed in the wind and fluttered behind the two of them.
The girl was pinned against the wall by the window, her back pressed against the cold wall, while her front was covered by a burning body temperature.
Their breaths mingled in close proximity, one heavy, the other long, like two tides colliding from opposite directions, creating white waves.
His hand slid from her cheek to her shoulder, pulling her coat off her shoulders.
The coat fell to the ground, piling up at her feet with a soft thud, and her hand slid down his neck, her fingers clumsily unbuttoning his shirt.
However, because they were in such a hurry, after untying two of the beads, they couldn't untie the third one no matter what they tried.
She tried to tear it open, but found that the clothes she bought for him were of such high quality that they couldn't be torn apart.
Li Fu didn't help; he just kissed her forehead.
Lucy's breathing became rapid, and with a forceful tug, the button finally came off.
"Slow down..." Li Fu reminded her, afraid she would hurt her fingers. His voice was so low it seemed to be squeezed out of his chest, and it had a kind of magnetic quality that made people's scalps tingle.
"I can't wait... I want it right now."
Lucy's voice trembled slightly, and her fingers touched him with an almost reverent gesture.
They embraced and moved from the window to the bedside.
The large bed was soft and spacious. Li Fu slept on it for several days, but it probably only occupied about a third of the entire bed.
This incredibly comfortable bed seems to have been made just for this moment.
Lucy's fingers trembled as she unbuttoned her lover's last button. As his shirt slipped down, the scars on his chest were clearly visible.
Her fingertips gently traced the scars, and the moist touch made Li Fu let out a low groan.
It resembled both pain and trembling.
Li Fu tightened his grip on her waist suddenly, as if he wanted to meld her into his very bones.
The moment the two fell onto the bed, the curtains were lifted and then fell back down by the wind, and the light and shadow dappled and flowed on their overlapping figures, like broken moonlight dancing on their skin.
Lucy heard his rapid heartbeat in her ear, and the burning heat of his palms mingled with her skin. She clung to his neck, her golden hair scattered like golden fragments on the pillow, their breaths mingling with each other's.
The emotions at this moment are so intense that it seems as if they want to make up for all the tenderness that has been missed in the past few days.
The wind suddenly stopped, and the curtains fell silently, as if isolating the entire room into the last piece of pure land.
Li Fu lowered his head and kissed her red lips again.
A soft, tearful sound escaped Lucy's lips.
The sound was like the joy of finally being able to release something that had been trapped in the chest for too long, and also like a sob of lament for the twists and turns of fate.
Their kisses traveled from their lips to their earlobes, then to their necks, their bodies embracing each other, each feeling the other's slight trembling.
The atmosphere intensified further.
The girl's hands, which were resting on her lover's shoulders, suddenly tightened, her knuckles turning white, as if she wanted to etch this belated tenderness into her very bones.
Their intertwined figures rolled on the soft mattress, as if caught in a vortex of intertwined fates, unwilling to let go.
Li Fu's hand slid from Lucy's cheek to her shoulder, his fingertips deftly untying the last restraints on her body.
The girl in his arms was breathing rapidly, her heart pounding like a drum. She suddenly kissed his Adam's apple forcefully, the force not too light, not too heavy, but it made his whole body tense.
He groaned, and with a sudden twist of his arm around her waist, he pressed her deep into the bed.
The indoor light flickered with the rise and fall of the curtains, their shadows sometimes overlapping and sometimes separating, but always being reunited by new light.
Like the red thread of fate, no matter how much you struggle, it will eventually become tangled into a knot.
A wondrous melody began to play.
This was their most intense moment ever.
This is far superior to any previous one.
The storm raged on the bed like a ship adrift in the deep sea.
That state of mind seemed to suggest that even if it meant sinking into depravity, they were willing to go down into the abyss together.
Time seemed to slow down, flowing by gently.
They never tire, only thinking about expressing their love and feelings for each other.
I don't know how much time has passed...
Finally, the wind outside the window stopped.
The curtains stopped swaying.
The indoor lighting stabilized.
The ripples on the artificial lake outside the window shimmered with a silvery-white light in the afternoon sun.
Several wild ducks were strolling along the lake, and occasionally one of them would dive its head into the water, and when it raised its head again, it would have a small silver fish in its beak.
Lucy lay on her side on the edge of the bed, tucking her legs up and curling up on the edge of the bed.
A section of pale calves and ankles was visible under the bed sheet.
She felt utterly exhausted and powerless.
But deep down, I also felt a sense of satisfaction I had never experienced before.
Li Fu picked up a bottle of water from the table, unscrewed the cap, and took a few gulps. His breathing was still not steady.
Excessive exertion made his steps somewhat unsteady.
"What did Cole say to you today?"
Lucy's throat was hoarse.
It seems to be due to overuse, making it unbearable.
"He asked me what my plans were for the future!" Li Fu placed the water bottle on the bedside table and rested his hand on her soft back.
"What did you say?"
"I told them I wanted to start an investment company."
Lucy turned to look at him.
His profile looked beautiful in the afternoon sunlight, the line of his nose flowing down from between his eyebrows and slightly upturned at the tip.
The contours and curves are almost perfect.
"An investment company?" She frowned slightly. "You even know anything about finance?"
"I know a little bit."
Li Fu didn't know how to explain it.
He had some experience with stocks and foreign exchange in his previous life.
However, at that time it was just a superficial attempt.
Now, things are clearly different, because he knows the general economic trends.
This is an advantage that no one, not even financial giants like Buffett or Soros, can match.
Lucy didn't delve into it further. "It's worth a try. Maybe you're a genius in this area!"
She was too deeply in love and thought her lover was perfect in every way.
It's not that she lacked rationality, but that's how it's easy for couples in love to be blinded by their own limited perspective and fail to see the bigger picture.
Li Fu turned his head and looked into her eyes.
Those light blue eyes held the afternoon sunlight, and also his silhouette.
He reached out and tucked a strand of still-damp hair behind her ear, his fingertips touching her earlobe, which felt delicate and slightly cool.
"Don't worry, I will definitely help you make the Forrest name famous."
Lucy stared at him for two seconds, and her lips twitched slightly.
It's not the usual smile, but the sweetest smile in the whole world.
"Don't rush, just give it a try if you want to," she leaned into his arms, her face pressed against his chest. His chest muscles were firm, and she could vaguely hear his heartbeat, steady and powerful.
She never intended to rely on him to support her.
The Forrest family has the ability to propel her to great heights, provided she is willing to work hard.
The two of them snuggled together, whispering to each other.
Sunlight streamed in through the window, casting a square patch of light on the bedsheet in front of them.
The light spot moved slowly, from the foot of the bed to the head of the bed, from the head of the bed to the wall, and then disappeared.
The indoor lighting dimmed a bit.
Lucy lifted her head from his embrace. "What time is it?"
Li Fu glanced at the alarm clock on the bedside table. "It's almost five o'clock."
"We should go," Lucy said, sitting up. "You're staying too far from the city center. Let's go to a new place!"
"No rush," Li Fu said, putting his arm around her shoulder.
"Let's move there while it's still light!"
"It's okay if it's a little later."
Lucy glanced at him and bit her lip lightly.
"Then I'll go take a shower," she said, getting out of bed and taking two steps toward the bathroom.
Li Fu pulled her from behind, "Let's go together."
Lucy turned around and looked into his eyes.
The two stared at each other for a moment, and then the corners of her mouth finally turned up, revealing a faint smile with a hint of smugness, as if to say, "I knew you would do this."
The sound of water was coming from the direction of the bathroom.
However, it wasn't just the sound of water; there was also the melodious sound of a lark.
The sun slowly sank behind the western hills, turning the entire sky orange-red.
The sunset reflected on the surface of the artificial lake, like a shattered bronze mirror, broken into countless pieces of golden-red light.
On the distant horizon, a few stars have begun to twinkle.
Li Fu carried his bag downstairs, with Lucy following behind.
As the car drove out of the resort hotel and back along the same route, the security guard in the booth stood up again and pressed the button to open the gate when it passed the iron gate.
"Where is the new place?" Li Fu asked casually.
"It's closer to the city than here, a 20-minute drive from my family's estate," Lucy said. Since she couldn't bring Li Fu home, she could only try to stay as close as possible.
The car turned a corner on a road lined with streetlights, but the trees on both sides became increasingly dense.
Moonlight filtered through the gaps in the tree canopy, casting streaks of silvery light on the asphalt road.
At the end of the road is a residential area. The houses are not big, but they are spaced far apart and have plenty of natural light.
The lawn in the yard was neatly trimmed, and a large, shady tree was planted at the entrance.
This is the most popular type of housing among the well-off middle class.
Perhaps it can't compare to those luxury villas.
But it is still respectable enough, and the surrounding area is safe.
Lucy parked her car in front of a white house.
The house wasn't big; a warm yellow light shone on the porch on the first floor, like a winking eye in the night.
"We've arrived."
She took the keys out of her bag and handed them to Li Fu.
The night breeze blew through the trees, carrying the scent of grass and earth.
Li Fu opened the courtyard gate, but Lucy did not follow him in.
He turned his head and saw that the other person had already gotten into the driver's seat and was preparing to drive away.
Get some rest, I'll come see you again tomorrow.
Li Fu was slightly surprised; of course, he hoped Lucy could stay.
However, this is not Los Angeles.
Under the watchful eye of the family, some things cannot be done too excessively.
"OK, see you tomorrow then," he said with a relaxed expression, walking over to kiss her forehead through the car window.
Lucy kissed his cheek in return.
Knowing each other's feelings, the two parted with tender affection.
